Chapter 49 High Temptation
Chapter 49 High Temptation
Corran
The sound of April’s giggle echoing in the room wakes me from my sleep. Her back is tightly against my front, and my arm is tightly around her.
“Why are you giggling?” I ask tiredly and confused.
“Um, your morning excitement is getting a little too friendly.”
“Shit, sorry,” I reply and put a little distance between us.
April rolls over to face me, smiling. “It is okay.”
I can’t control it right after waking up. I gently brush the hair from her eyes. As she closes her eyes and leans into my touch, she sighs. I feel the temptation to lean in and kiss her, knowing we're only a few inches apart, my lips just a breath away from hers. But I resist because that's not what she wants.
Hesitant, I draw my hand away. Her eyes flicker open, meeting mine again. No words pass between us. We stare at one another, the tension thick in the air as always. My lips dance between her eyes and her lips. She mirrors my movements.
“I will go make some coffee,” I say and climb out of bed.
The temptation was becoming overwhelming, especially with how April was gazing at me. She sits up, looking confused by my sudden urge to leave the bed. Her brows furrow, but before she can speak, I smile and turn away, walking out of her bedroom. It’s difficult, but I believe it’s for the best. April has made it clear that nothing can happen. I don’t want to seem like I’m pushing her.
I groan and walk to her kitchen, start brewing fresh coffee, and stand by the window, looking out. Lost in thought, I wonder if walking away was the right decision. I can’t shake the feeling that she might have wanted to kiss me as well. What if she was waiting for me to take the initiative? Did I just ruin my opportunity?
I turn, considering returning, but then I hear her footsteps approaching the kitchen. Is she angry? I hope not. I was just respecting her wishes. I quickly turn away, pretending I wasn’t just watching the door. April enters the kitchen.
“I thought we were past running away from each other?” she asks softly.
Sighing, I turn to face her and rest against the counter. “I wasn’t running away. I thought some coffee was needed.” I lie, hoping she would believe the words coming from my lips.
April approaches and stops just in front of me, crossing her arms. “Yes, you did. You ran away because you wanted to kiss me, but then changed your mind. Why?”
Damn it! I hoped she wouldn’t have caught onto that.
I glance at the ground and rub the back of my neck. “I was respecting your wishes, April. You made it clear that nothing can happen between us again. I respect that. I am not the sort of guy who would ignore it.”
“Corran, look at me,” she commands.
“Yes?”
I do as she asks, and when I do, April steps even closer to me and rests her hand on my chest. I swallow hard and shudder under her touch. “But you wanted to?”
I nod without even needing to think about it. “Yes, but I think you know that, April. You don’t need me to answer the question for you.”
Any space between us becomes non-existent as she presses her body to mine, trapping me between that and the counter. “I do.”
“W-w-what are you doing?”
My heart starts to beat harder in my chest, and I struggle to catch my breath.
“A girl can change her mind, can she not?”
“Change her mind about what?”
I know what she means, but I want her to confirm it before I jump to the wrong conclusion.
April doesn’t answer me straightaway. She doesn’t give me a chance to talk again, either, before she reaches up and crashes her lips to mine. It is a heated, rough kiss. I am taken aback, so it takes a moment for me to start kissing back.
Gripping her hips in my hands, I make sure to keep her close to me, deepening the kiss. My morning excitement is coming back to life. Our kiss was enough to make it throb in my joggers. April entangles her fingers in my hair, tugging it as things become heated between us. More heated than before, which is saying something considering the chemistry that seems to be between us. I make sure to savour every moment because she could pull away and change her mind at any time. I hope she doesn’t, but it is a possibility.
I flip us around, pushing her back to the counter. She doesn’t fight against it or try to force me away. I run my hands down her body and onto her thighs, gripping them in my hands. I am so turned on. Every part of my body craves her. I lift her, setting her on the counter and take my place between her legs. I massage her thighs as our lips move perfectly.
April slips her legs around me tightly, not parting from the kiss, not even once. I have no idea where this is going, but I plan to find out. I eventually stop the kiss, but only because I need to catch my breath and let the air back into my lungs. The kitchen soon fills with our pants, our eyes meeting again.
“April, what are we doing?”
A smirk curls on her lips. “What does it seem like we are doing?”
She grasps the bottom of my hoodie in her hands and yanks it over my head, tossing it aside. She trails her fingers over my bare chest. My every muscle tenses beneath her soft fingertips, and the throbbing in my dick intensifies.
A deep growl rumbles in my throat. “April, are you sure this is what you want?”
“Yes, positive. I don’t want to do other things. I don’t want to stop or for one of us to run away. I want you to take me. I mean, fully take me.”
Who am I not to give her what she wants?
