Chapter 10 she had a panic attack
Oscar’s P.O.V. (Continued)

“I don’t know what happened to her. I…. I just strangled her a bit, a…. and she fainted.” I tried to speak but stammered hard in panic.
Galvin hurriedly squatted down and put his finger under her nose.
“She is breathing.” I yelled at Galvin angrily, glaring at him in the process.
“Then what should I do?” he yelled back at me.
“Strangle a bit? Look at the bruises, bro.” Fred yelled in panic this time.
I glared at him but couldn’t say a word because those blackish-purple bruises had covered her whole neck.
What have I done?
Galvin immediately unscrewed the water bottle that he brought with him and took some water on his hand.
“Go outside, and bring everything from here, and Easton, take care of the surveillance. Delete everything related to my presence in the corridor.” I instructed both Fred and Easton hurriedly.
Easton was a hacker, and it worked in our favor sometimes.
“Damn, bro. You will put me in grave danger one day.” Easton grumbled angrily but ran towards the chairs.
Galvin splashed some water on Madelyn’s face. She gasped aloud before opening her eyes.
“Mom.” She screamed at the top of her lungs, startling all of us in the process.
Galvin fell backward on his butt. I tightened my grip on Madelyn’s body.
“Don’t leave me, Mom. Don’t leave me. Please come back…… Mom…. Mom.” She thrashed her body so hard as if she were trying to run, trying to hold something in the air; her wide eyes were filled with terror.
I recognized this terror….
Terror of losing someone dear to you.
“Mom…. Don’t leave me. I beg you… please don’t leave me.” She continued screaming at the top of her lungs, but the agony in her voice felt like a sharp stab of a knife in my heart.
My whole body trembled so hard that I couldn’t do anything else but tighten my grip on her.
“Maddie….. Maddie. Calm down. She is not leaving.” I tried to grab her hands, but she slapped my hands away. She was thrashing her body so hard that I almost lost my balance on us.
“Mom…. Mom.” She continued screaming as if she were in a trance, but I panicked when I noticed how flushed her face had become.
She was now hyperventilating, trying to breathe, but couldn’t breathe. Her hands and legs were moving recklessly.
“Maddie. Maddie.” I yelled at her, trying to hold her tightly against my chest.
“Mom…. Don’t leave me.” She wailed aloud while punching my chest.
And boy….
She really had good strength. The punches hurt my chest like hell, but her condition was something that shook me to the core.
I didn’t know about Galvin and Easton, but I was completely shaken by her condition.
“She is having a panic attack, Oscar. What did you do to her?” Galvin yelled at me in panic.
I pressed her hard against my chest, ignoring Galvin.
“Hey, hey…. Baby… I am here. I am here.” I coaxed her while rocking her body lightly. I didn’t know what I was saying or doing right now.
I only wanted her to calm down. If anything happens to her, I will be doomed for life, but what made me unsettled was the agony and terror in her voice.
Those feelings were so raw in her voice that I stopped breathing for a few seconds.
I knew that her mother abandoned her when she was only 8, leaving Madelyn with her father’s mother.
Madelyn must have run behind her mother back then when her mother was leaving home.
How could a heartless woman like her mother give birth to a sensible girl like Madelyn?
I always wondered how wonderful it would be to see Madelyn cry.
But listening to her wailing in pain was so painful that I felt breathless.
“Here… let her drink some water.” Galvin asked me in panic, bringing the bottle to us.
“What happened? Why is she crying so badly?” Fred asked in panic while entering the room.
“Close the door.” Galvin yelled at him.
“Hey, Maddie. Listen to me, love. Listen to me. Drink some water. Drink some water. You will feel better.” I coaxed her gently while rocking her body, holding her tightly.
“Why did you leave me, Mom? Why did you leave me?” She continued wailing, but her cries were now muffled. I put my chin at the top of her head, feeling helpless.
I have never felt this helpless ever, not even when I was beaten by my father.
Not even when my mother didn’t pay attention to me and let my father do whatever he wanted to do in a fit of rage.
She continued crying but stopped thrashing her body. “Drink some water, Maddie. You will feel better.” I coaxed her in a low voice.
Her previous statement about craving a family rang in my ears.
My parents didn’t have much attachment with me, and my grandparents always cared about appearance in front of the world.
She was right. I still have those people as my family. I am not called an orphan. Whatever reasons my parents have to call me when I don’t go back on time, I still have someone to call me and ask me about my whereabouts.
I felt torn but didn’t let this come to my face.
“I called Stella. The school is about to end, and we can’t leave her in this state.” Galvin told me and I glared at him.
“Are you nuts? Stella will call the teachers immediately, and we all will be doomed.” Fred yelled at him angrily.
Maddie flinched harder, making me tighten my grip on her body.
“You guys go.” She spoke in a low, tired, and hoarse voice.
“What?” I asked her in confusion.
“You guys go. I am okay.” She replied to me in the same tone. Her face was still pressed on my chest.
“We can’t leave you alone in this state, Maddie. You just had a panic attack.” Galvin refused in a stern voice.
“You said that Stella is coming. Go. She will be here soon.” She replied to him in the same state.
I looked at Fred and Easton. They also had a troubled expression, but they nodded in agreement.
Fred put everything behind me. I was reluctant to leave her alone, but I can’t let anyone catch me here.
I then realized that she was still on my lap.
I slowly put her on the platform, and she immediately moved in the other direction, her back in our direction.
“Th… thanks for help, guys. But you should go now," she whispered in a hoarse and cracked voice.
Galvin put the bottle beside her and stood up.
He signaled me to get up too. I looked at her back blankly, torn between staying with her and leaving her alone.
In the end, I stood up, and we all walked out of the room.
At the same time, the bell rang, ending the school.
“Let’s hide at the corner. We will leave after Stella takes her away.” I suggested it, and they all nodded in agreement.
