CHAPTER SIXTY THREE

CHAPTER SIXTY THREE
Aria's POV

We all looked to the machine to see whether what he was saying was true or not.

The machine beeps red and it showed that all he had said was a lie.

I couldn't believe that Ethan would dare to lie or fake up something like that.

“What are you hiding?” I asked him, shaking my head in sheer disbelief that he would betray me like that.

Ethan scoffed. “What am I hiding? Everyone has things they are hiding, don't start to act like you're some saint. You've been gullible for a long time. It had nothing to do with me. I was just helping you.”

“Helping me with what? In what way? By stealing money from my company? The same company you kept on encouraging me to do my best at to ensure it gets to a larger height? You! You, Ethan, watched me as I worked so hard to ensure that I did my best to keep the company running. Receiving no salary or benefits from the company so I could pay the staffs and you still did that to me?”

“Oh please! You were stupid for doing that! Women are always stupid and too emotional when they are running a company. You were going to run yourself down because you wanted to build this company and keep a good reputation that you owed to nobody in this world. I couldn't let you run us down financially.”

I could not believe the words that flew out from Ethan's mouth. I just couldn't believe it.

He seemed to have a very believable but selfish reason for his deeds.

He didn't have a bit of remorse on him about what he did. Instead he boasted about how much of a fool I was that he was taking from me all these years and I never found out until Kael did.

“You failed your company. Not me. You think I was just the only one who was taking our share from you? You think foolishly!” He laughed. “You're too soft hearted for all this and I'm glad to agree that selling the company to him.was indeed the best thing you could have ever done.”

Tears flowed down my cheeks upon hearing that. I couldn't even believe that Ethan would come that clean with me but his expected clear sheet will feel so heavy because of how much mud I will find in it.

“You should never have done any of this to me. You shouldn't!” I placed the engagement ring he gave to me on the table and I stood up to leave.

“Hey, Aria! Aria! You can't just leave me like this. No, you can't!” Ethan stood up after me but he was chained so he wasn't able to move and I was very glad about that.

I had never felt so hurt as much as I was by all that I heard Ethan say in the investigation room. The way he even spoke to me. He wasn't like the Ethan I knew him to be.

Never in my life would I have thought he would be the one to betray me in such a way. I just couldn't explain how I felt after he said all of that.

I cleaned my eyes before walking out of the station. I wasn't bothered by anything anyone had to say again since I knew the truth myself and I knew things were about to go down for Ethan.

I was watching ahead when someone tapped me on the shoulder.

“You were brave there.” Kael's familiar voice filled my ears. I didn't have to look at him to know he was the one.

I took a deep breath in and out.

“Perhaps, it's what I get for being unfaithful to him too. Karma is a bitch.” I said, looking up into the white sky.

“Trust me, you've not known anything about Ethan. You don't know who he really is and it's not your fault. He knows how to hide his identity alot. He is always about keeping his name and getting as much as he needs from people. This time around, he will pay a large price for it.”

I turned to look Kael in the eyes.

“What would that price be?” I.asked him. becauss knowing Ethan, he might get away with.all.that he has done, unscathed. I wasn't bothered about that tho. More than that, I was happy I didn't have to feel miserable for thinking I was the first person to break the foundation of trust we had in ourselves while in the relationship.

“You," Kael said assuredly. “You're the price he has greatly lost and what a large loss on his path.”

I didn't know how to feel with what Kael said. I was supposed to feel important after that but I genuinely just felt angered.

Angered that Ethan would love to lose me after all the promises we made to each other. After all the times that I struggled so much and he watched me but still decided to hurt me.

I couldn't express how betrayed I felt but it was still nothing compared to how free I was so I sulked all the pain in.

There was no point hurting myself for someone who never considered me after all.

“It's just sad that I had so much hope in us. Left to me, I tried my best.” I said and walked over to let myself into Kael's car.

I didn't even wait for him to open the door for me. I didn't want anything that would seem like I wanted to be treated like a princess or whatsoever.

I just wanted to go back to being a stern girl.

Kael was walking towards the car as well when he was met with Thalyn, his ex.

She burst out of nowhere with two body guards behind her as though she wasn't going to get to the station.

I knew the day was about to get longer when she turned to look into the car and she found me seated in the front seat.
