Calm
Chapter Eighty – Calm
Dominic calmed down as he listened. Bethany? Mafia? There should be way no way Bethany's Mafia was the one that helped kill Butler Saunders.
Tadashi definitely had no idea. Dominic watched Jamie's reaction, he knew he and Bethany had been closer, with his older sister too.
This will surely cause a rift in their teamwork.
But Jamie was calm. Then suddenly a kick was sent to Tadashi's face and the man fell on his back.
Silas rubbed his neck nervously. "And I thought he was calm." Perhaps he was the only levelheaded one in the prison with the poor criminal.
Jamie picked up Tadashi, not caring that the man was bleeding from the nose. "Is it okay to rough him up? My sister plans to take the case to court officially."
She did? Dominic hadn't heard of that. It must be the activities she was running while he had CEO duties and family. "That's okay. Sooner the better."
"Don't worry, I'd do my best to spread the case to the news when the time comes!" Silas cheered.
Jamie dropped Tadashi, staring down at him like he was trash. "And I didn't ask you about any mafia. I asked about who kill my father. If you had no idea, just say it."
Tadashi covered his face with his hands, in hopes that he wouldn't be assaulted again. "Th-That's what I said, sir. It's a mafia boss, but he was directed by Mr. Allen-"
"That'd what I needed to know. That it's Mr. Allen." Jamie dropped the man abruptly.
He understood that Bethany might've taken the job, without investigation, or Bethany might not have seen it at all and it was done by his boys.
There was no use making a fuss about the dead when his father couldn't be brought back. Avenging the one with the intention to kill was the only way to take the case.
"Do you have proof that can support us? Call logs? If you help us, it'd lighten your sentence." Jamie further asked.
Dominic and Silas had been watching him in admiration, surprised how he could still be calm. It even made the young master slightly ashamed that he lost his temper.
When they were done, they quickly left the prison.
Tadashi had given the location of where he dropped his call logs to threaten his clients if things go sideways. Silas knew the location so left to get it.
"Are you really okay, Jamie?" Dominic asked as he drove himself and Jamie back. "I mean, with Bethany?"
The young man was silent, before exhaling. "When I heard he was mafia, I subconsciously prepared myself for any wrong thing he'd have done that will come back to us."
Dominic glanced at him, then back at the road. "Oh…"
"Though, of course, I wasn't expecting his connection with this case but it's probable. He's been a good help to us, so I'd try not to bother about it." Jamie added.
Truly, with the help Bethany has been, it's easier to understand that he knew nothing about Butler Saunders death being sent to his boys.
"Mafias are hired helpers but Mr. Allen gave the order." Jamie finalized, looking outside the window. "It will be best if Bethany and my sister don't know about this too."
Dominic nodded in agreement. The car went silent.
They reached the company and Selene had returned. She informed them of her intentions to start the pretrial.
Selene summarized. "So we have Bethany's video of proof that Tadashi caused the accident. We'd need more evidences to attach it to Mrs. Jones and Mr. Allen though."
"Silas left to get it, Tadashi had some in case Mr. Allen tried coming after him." Jamie explained.
"Whoa. I didn't he'd be so cautious." Bethany scoffed, looking into Selene's laptop.
Jamie's eyes tarried on him before looking away. "Right, Bethany, do you have evidence to prove that it was Mr. Allen that asked you to crash Dominic's car that time?"
Bethany raised his head up. "Hmm. That case wasn't sent to me. Just my boys. I happened to have seen it by mere chance and then I recognized the name, that's all."
It was as Jamie thought, Bethany barely overlooked the case. His boys just did whatever job came their way.
It made Jamie feel better that Bethany had no idea about his father's death whatsoever. "You should ask those boys then. It will be important, you know."
Bethany was already calling. "Yeah, I'm on it."
Selene smiled. "Those evidence will be plenty help. Then," she turned to Pamela. "We will be giving you grand entrance only on the court day. Brace yourself."
Pamela smiled at her choice of words.
Finally. Dominic exhaled. Finally, this decade long case was coming to an end. And with them as victors, hopefully.
"Aunt Pamela, come with me please." He headed to his office. "It's about time I gave you your the employment."
The lady's eyes narrowed curiously but she followed.
Silas returned with call logs, emails and texts evidence. Selene felt like jumping and hugging him as he knew to print them out in many copies.
She left to the court as soon as a delivery came for Bethany, the video evidence of Tadashi crashing on Lucas' parents' car and mail print of Mr. Allen asking the mafia to crash Dominic's car.
"I think I'd return to the station and make it known that the wristwatch belonged to Mr. Allen of Allen group. That way, he'd be seen as a suspicious individual before the court case starts." Silas said his thoughts out loud.
Jamie patted his shoulders. "That's mischievously convenient for us. Do it. The more his tail is out there, the better for us at winning the case and people's heart."
If Thales family win this case, it will also be a way to make the masses know that the empire deserved a second chance at being the top again.
The supporters will rise and the ones that got disappointed by the sudden fall will be interested in watching its rise again. Everything will be to their benefit.
