Chapter Seventy-Five – Attempted
Dominic drove the twins to the company, it was a holiday and the third day since they began living with him.
Jake and Lucas were enrolled in a swimming class but the twins weren't interested. Dominic hurried into his office for the last meeting for the day.
There were sending fifty more cars into the transport services. It's been blooming and that meant they needed more drivers. Which also meant more payroll.
"Lucian, you and your brother should play in the room. You don't need to come to daddy's office okay?" he said as he was about walking in.
Timely, he noticed Dorian about to follow him inside so he walked out back. "Dorian, you agreed with daddy. Okay?"
The boy pouted looking down. "What if I get hungry?"
Dominic looked to the heaven. This one had eaten a plate for three before they left the house. Still, Brielle promised to drop by with more food if he needed.
"I'm sure you won't." Dominic forced a smile. "Your stomach is strong so it won't become hungry suddenly."
Dorian looked up, with beaming eyes, then he nodded. "Yes, my stomach is strong! I'm not hungry, daddy!"
Dominic wasn't sure if he should convince the child that hunger was a weakness but it was for the time being.
Still, while having the meeting, his mind was out there, watching for when Dorian or Lucian would knock to ask for something. After the meeting, he rushed to their room.
"No way! He was lying?!"
Dominic slowed his steps as he head Lucian yell in surprise. It's definitely not Dorian he was with. He opened the door to meet Selene and Bethany.
That was rare for both of them to be at one place. "Ah, I told you he'd come here immediately after the meeting!" Bethany smirked. "His kids are here after all."
Where they waiting for him? Dominic walked in, but his Dorian dived to his legs immediately. He hugged him back, wearing a curious expression.
For these two to be here, then maybe there's finally info on Mrs. Jones. It's been so long and no further information that it made him scared that they lost the woman.
Selene patted Lucian. "Yes, yes. It was a lie. As a lawyer you need to make the suspect spill the tea. It's a cool job."
Lucian smiled. "Alright! I'd be a lawyer when I'm older!"
Bethany raised his hand for a high five. "For someone like you that likes calling out people's shit, a lawyer is best!"
"Yes!" Lucian clapped his hand.
Dominic sighed, raising Dorian to his shoulders to help him walk better. "Is there information of Mrs. Jones?"
Selene left where she sat. "Yes. She made one mistake. I think she's after someone at India. Someone that might be related to this case."
After someone? Dominic sat down with Dorian. "Do you know anything else?"
Bethany exhaled. "I don't want to give false hope but this person might be related to the accident of you know who's parents." He glanced at Lucian.
Dominic smiled. Lucian was smart so if he heard Lucas' name, he'd become interested in the conversation. And a person related to the accident?
The driver? The driver was killed on the spot as well as the parents. It made Dominic really curious on who it was. And wasn't it only Mr. Allen related to the case?
Mrs. Jones shouldn't be involved in it, unless she was helping the old man clean his dirty tracks. "What was the mistake she made?"
"Well, I narrowed down her location by the information Casimir gave me. She's around New Delhi so I checked their logs. She attempted murder on a lady recently. It was a car accident but she's not that careless."
A lady? Murder? Lucian looked at Selene on hearing 'murder', then initiatively closed his ears.
Bethany pulled him close and rubbed his head. "Yeah, close your ears. We are saying scary things." Dorian was already asleep on his father's body.
"I don't know the information of the lady but I think she flew out of the country to hide. I have no idea anymore." Selene's shoulder slumped.
They had to get to that lady first! Before Mrs. Jones goes after her again. They had Tadashi to witness against Mrs. Jones but they needed more to get Mr. Allen down too.
"Do you have any idea where this lady left to?" Dominic asked, quite haughty. "We need to speak to her-"
"If she knew where she went to, then Mrs. Jones would know. I'm sure the lady was being really careful." Bethany interrupted.
Dominic nodded. That made sense. "Then, what are we going to do? Target the next country Mrs. Jones go to the beat her to meeting the woman?"
"That'd make sense too. But tracking Mrs. Jones is more difficult than before since the accident. She'd know that she was being tracked now." Selene said.
This was a dilemma. Fighting Mrs. Jones in a country she was used to, while trying to catch their only witness that could successfully nail both Mrs. Jones and Mr. Allen.
"What are our odds? Maybe I should send someone to India to track Mrs. Jones?" Bethany asked, rubbing the sleepy Lucian. "I don't think she'd leave India soon."
"I think she would." Selene countered. "If she can't kill that witness, then she could return for you, Dominic. All in all, it's better she's here than there."
It definitely was. Dominic heard his phone beep and he peeked into the screen. It was Silas. He had sent a message.
He closed the screen and looked at Selene. "You know Silas, right? He's currently at India and know a lot about the place, do you think we can use him to-"
"He's a civilian. No need to put him in danger." Selene interjected. "He might be willing to help but I don't advise."
Bethany agreed with a nod. "If you're interested in sending someone to India, best be my men honestly."
A sigh left Dominic as he opened the message Silas sent. "On my way back with my girlfriend. Yayy!" Dominic closed the screen again, wearing a scowl.
