The Lady
Chapter Seventy-Four – The Lady
Dominic slowed down as he got to a stop. They were at the airport. And he had a full car of cackling children.
His best friend stepped down, and posed in front of the car, making the kids cheer. Dominic rolled his eyes. "Hurry up or you'd miss your flight, dumbass!"
Silas has been intent on leaving for India for a mysterious lady. Dominic tried keeping him close while delaying the details of the receptionist he wanted but it wasn't enough.
It got to the point Dominic suspected that something else was going on. Why did his friend so intently want to leave to India? The same India that Mrs. Jones left to?
Could there be something drawing him there? Though, he wasn't aware Mrs. Jones left to India before he became intent of leaving. So Dominic could only be patient and wait for whatever surprise he'd return with.
Silas finally left with his light baggage, it made Dominic confirm that since he was travelling light, he'd be back soon. He had no base in India anyway.
The kids stopped cheering when Silas was out of earshot. Dominic drove off but the car fell dead silent. Was he so boring that none could start a conversation when Silas wasn't in?
He stopped at a restaurant, when his hunger pangs started. It was his usual place. "Anyone need a snack?"
Dorian stood up, checking the restaurant. "You have taken us here before, Daddy?"
Was he supposed to take them to a new restaurant every time? Dominic left the driver's seat, and Lucas followed him from the passenger's seat.
"This restaurant is the best, children friendly, and also gives it's regular customers discounts. We are hoping to be regulars to earn good discounts." Lucas recited.
He always spoke like he was narrating some business, or making an advertisement. Dominic patted his nephew's head as they all walked into the restaurant.
The place was strangely filled with people. Dominic held unto Dorian and Lucian so they wouldn't get lost. "Lucas, hold unto Jake…" he trailed off when he saw her.
The gods must hate him if he had to see that bitch thrice in one year. And she wasn't with her boyfriend.
Dominic carried the twins to his shoulders. "Lucas, you and Jake should unto each other. Find a table, I'd get us a meal. Okay?" the two nodded.
"Is there anything specific you want?" he asked Lucas. He was the only that had visited the restaurant often to be able to have something in mind. But the boy shook his head in the negative. Dominic left the them.
The place will be diffused back to it's emptiness in no time, the restaurant must be having a huge sale for many to come in at once.
"Daddy, look! I want that!" Dorian pointed at an oddly shaped snack. His father went towards it, pushing through the crowd. "Look at that. It looks disgusting!"
Dominic paused, shaking Lucian. "That's not nice." But he agreed, not all foods look edible but it could taste better.
After buying what Dorian wanted, Dominic tried to find Lucas and Jake and the table they found. There was a lady leaning towards them, authoritatively.
Dominic's blood began to boil as he marched towards them. That lady just had to find his family first. It was like she was attracted to the smell of his blood.
When he got close, he slowed down to hear what she's saying. "You are Dominic's nephew, right? I saw you on the internet with Norman and now his restaurant fell."
It was a confirmation from what Bethany told him few days ago. Dominic leaned towards her. "And if you dare to annoy him, he could make your shaky career fall too."
She snapped her head back then jumped back. Her eyes went to the twin boys looking at her curiously. They were the Allens grandchildren, she knew that much.
"I can't believe Lady Brielle let you touch her precious children." The lady hissed. "You must feel smug."
A tired sigh left Dominic, he shouldn't act rough in front of his kids. He'd like to give a good example. He placed the twins down and handed the snacks he bought to the kids.
He turned to the lady. "Want to take this outside?" he balled his fists and showed her. She immediately knew what he meant and backed away further.
He hoped she'd buzz off as the fly she was but she stayed around, glaring at any of his kids that looked at her direction. They were obviously uncomfortable.
He hurriedly finished his food, preparing to shoo her off by force or by words, but Lucian slid his chair back as he got up, then marched to the lady.
Dominic stood up but didn't follow him. What's he about to do now? The lady stared down at him. "What is it?"
"Miss troublemaker, could you leave?" Lucian's eyebrows furrowed. "You made my younger brother scared."
His words shocked the lady and Dominic.
Dominic looked at Dorian and he was really the most uncomfortable but then he said. "I'm not your younger brother. We're twins."
"Close your mouth." Lucian said to him, his eyes still on the lady.
"You little thing can't speak to me like that..?"
"Even if he's the Allens grandchild?" Lucas asked her, looking at them. "I might be able to damage Norman's business but it won't take this three year old anything to destroy your image. Just a call to his granddaddy."
The lady stepped back. Indeed, Master Allen was one person she wouldn't dare offend. And their mother, Lady Brielle, she was a mix of crazy and calm.
She cleared her throat. "Still, that's no way to talk…"
"Just get out!" Dominic snapped, heading some turned heads. "Stop bullying children and leave already."
Hearing 'bullying children', more people turned to the lady. She shook her head. "I wasn't bullying anyone." She frowned at Dominic who had a hidden smirk.
Glaring lastly at Lucian, she walked out in a huff. The boy returned to his seat and patted Dorian's head. Dominic smiled at them.
It were things like this that confirmed they were his kids.
