Chapter 56 By His Side

Chapter 56 By His Side
At the party where all of them were about to gather, although it was not her concern yet for a certain miserable man, Peach Harrison, came to London on her private jet.

“Shit. Never thought I would come to that stupid party,” She muttered, arriving at the location with a frown plastered on her beautiful features.

Arriving in her uttermost grace, wearing a pink mermaid dress, fitting her curves and dropping elegance, she entered.

Catching attention, everyone smirked when she asserted her presence with the color she announced that belongs to hers.

Pink.

“My, pink again?”

“Well, it ‘is’ her color.”

“She will never get tired of this color,”

Stopping in her tracks, she glared at them but decided to not cause a drama today. Her purpose to arrive was something else.

Eyes searching for a certain man.

“My, my, Peach? Fancy seeing you at a party,” Mr. Jed, the host, greeted her happily.

Checking the heart throbbing woman out who kept a deadpan expression, eyes bewitchingly moving across the place.

“You invited me, no?”

Replying in her prideful voice, she flipped her hair behind, a tempting smirk adorning her face.

He chuckled nervously, “Ah, right, right,”

“Unless you didn’t want me to come in the first place, Jed,”

“Hey, don’t be that cold now,”

“Thanks for the invitation, I will help myself,”

Humming, she waved her hand in the air gracefully, causing everyone to stare at her as she walked by.

They were taken aback to find her at a party and out of her business context which she couldn’t care less about.

Holding her head high to conceal her anxiousness towards Luke, she was searching for him and he was nowhere to be found, enhancing her distress.

‘Where are you? Don’t do anything stupid, dammit,’ She thought worriedly.

Shaking her knee with stress until she received a call from her father who sounded displeased at her absence.

“Yes, Papa?”

“What the hell is wrong with you, Peach? I just got to know you went to London, and for what? What are you doing at the party?” He growled at her.

Sighing, she knew it wasn’t like her nor she preferred her presence here.

In fact, why she was here, she didn’t know either so she gave a befitting reply.

“I had some personal errands, Papa, I will be back by Monday,”

“I thought nothing could prioritize your work life. What happened to following my steps to become successful like me?”

She sighed, “Yes, yes, but I have run into a small problem, Papa, it won’t be long. I will be with you soon,”

“Okay, if you are saying,”

After cutting the call, she rushed upstairs, looking for the man who had mindlessly came here searching for his heart breaker and finally found him.

“Now, where are you? Where are-”

Dressed handsomely in an all black attire with a waistcoat revealing his toned body and no tie, undoubtedly looking enchanting.

Two buttons were opened and slightly messy hair that displayed he came in haste, only with the urge to find his beloved.

An unforeseen compassion evoked on her side, loosening her shoulders, she stared at the dejected man for the next few seconds.

But recalling her purpose of arrival, she waved her hand and rushed to his side.

“Luke!”

His eyes widened, to find her at a party she always resented was questionable.

His eyes perused the lady from bottom to top, stopping at her eyes before asking.

“Peach? What are you doing here? I thought you hated Jed’s parties,”

“What the fuck are you doing here? What is wrong with you? Why are you here?” She growled, hitting his chest slightly before gripping his shirt between those slender fingers.

He was taken aback, holding her wrist to gently remove them for his, enhancing her heartbeats at his grip which soon faded.

“Why do you care? Why does it matter to you?”

Folding his arms at his chest, he ended up glaring at her, not believing her presence could be for his smoothness.

He rejected the premise that she would help him.

“Oh, are you here to enjoy the show of my misery? That would be most satisfactory for you, right?”

To his growling, she retreated a step and narrowed her eyes, calling him hopelessly.

“Luke…”

His harshness changed instantly at the breaking of her resonance and turned away.

“I have zero energy to deal with your shenanigans, Peach, don’t bother me. Enjoy the show if you are here for it,” He attempted to whisper as calmly as usual.

Curling his hand in a powerless fist where all his emotions were slipping and nothing in his life was right.

“I am the man you resent after all-”

Upon the show of his unsteady state coated with a poison purloining his senses drop by drop, she couldn’t help but to ask with pity.

“Who did this to you?”

He blinked, “What?”

“I still cannot believe that man who used to be an asshole, a carefree playboy, is now utterly heartbroken for a woman.”

Her voice went lower, “For a woman who left you, who broke you, who changed you entirely,”

She closed the distance, lips quivering at his pain. Placing her hand gradually over his chest and setting the uneven collar, the scattered hair.

His throat dried, staring at the aesthetic woman before, fixing his devastated posture.

Her gaze was unable to part from his empty hazel ones. Though this question reached his ears as mockery and made his jaw clenched.

“That is the main question, dammit. You can’t get it because emotions are your ignorance.”

Grabbing her arms without a warning, he pressed her body into his to ensure she wouldn't shatter the intense eye contact.

“Have you ever been heartbroken? Been in love?”

His reddish eyes began to collect tears followed by hefty breaths, hovering over her, earning a flinch from the Lady at the sudden grasp.

“Can you understand how madly my heart is beating just to know what I did that made her leave me and run to William…?”

And loosening his grip, a tear rolled down his cheek that sent a shiver down her spine. Staring at the miserable man with unknown agony knocks at her hollow chest as well.

“Or was she never loyal to me in all these two years?”

With his tone crackling, he eventually let her go and pulled his hair, growling under his breaths, expressing his heartbreak.

“This is making me lose my mind, Peach-”

“Ah, William, finally you are here with your bride!”
