Chapter 29

Kayla picked up her bag from the stairs outside where Xavier threw it out.

She called Jake but his number wasn't connecting, she tried calling Daisy but she couldn't reach her either.

Kayla picked up her bag and started walking, she had no idea where she was heading too. Kayla cried so hard that she couldn't cry anymore.

Soon the clouds gathered and it began to rain, it rained heavily and Kayla had nowhere to go. Her phone died immediately after she left Xavier's house.

Kayla hastened her steps and luckily she was able to find a shed at the corner of the road.

Although she was already drenched, Kayla remained under the shed, the rain was quite heavy and it rained throughout the night.

Gradually, it stopped raining, Kayla then picked her bag up and started moving. It was the early hours of the day and Kayla hoped to find a place to power her phone.

Kayla walked for a while, her legs were hurting. Kayla scanned her surroundings and noticed a Tea cafe at the end of the road, it was quite a distance from where she kept on walking.

When she got to the Cafe, Before she could open the door she heard someone call out her name.

"Skylar"

Kayla didn't respond at first, but then the voice was familiar. She remembered only people from the bar where she worked previously could call her that.

When she turned she saw Mia, Mia approached her with a hug and Kayla felt embarrassed, she looked like a mess from head to toe and her protruding stomach made everything look worse.

But Mia on the other hand was very happy to see her, She then noticed she was drenched and her stomach.

"Ow," Mia whined,

"Congratulations..you are going to be a mum! Is that the reason why you stopped working at the bar, you should have told us but you just disappeared" Mia Said with a huge grin plastered on her face as she rubbed Kayla's tummy,

Kayla was shocked beyond words because she didn't expect Mia to react that way, she became emotional and broke down into tears again.

"Oh my God! What have I done?" Mia exclaimed.

"No…no you have done nothing," Kayla said as she tried to clean her tears.

"Can you please help me, Mia?" Ok need to power my phone for a little bit, cause I have to make an urgent call" Kayla begged.

"Sure," Mia said, Mia then helped Kayla Into the cafe and ordered hot tea for both of them. She begged the attendant to help charge Kayla's phone while they chatted.

Mia kept on Addressing Kayla as Skyla and Kayla felt bad. Immediately after she was done with the first round she immediately collected the phone from the attendant.

She thanked Mia for her help and promised to call her very soon.

Kayla immediately rushed out of the cafe and hid by another store, when Mia came out looking for her.

Kayla called Jake and asked him to come pick her up. Although Kayla wasn't sure of her exact location, she told Jake about the important landmarks she could see and Jake was able to identify the place.

In less than thirty minutes, Jake arrived in a cab and Kayla got in immediately with her bag.

Kayla was already shivering as it seemed the cold had already gotten into her.

Immediately Kayla got into the car Jake started bombarding her with questions.

"What are you doing out here?"

"Why is everything on you drenched?"

"You are carrying a bag?, Don't tell me that mother fucker threw you out the house" Jake guessed.

Kayla pressed her forehead as she listened to Jake ask questions one after the other, she could feel her consciousness gradually slipping and then she fainted.

Jake ordered the cab driver to take them to the closest hospital he could locate using the GPS.

Immediately they got to the hospital Kayla was admitted, Jake put a call to Daisy and asked her to get to the hospital immediately.

Daisy rushed out of her office after seeking permission from her boss for the second time and got to the hospital.

When she arrived at the hospital she met Jake at the entrance and he narrated everything to her, how Kayla had just called him this morning to come pick her up and how she had fainted in the car.

The doctors reported that Kayla had suffered from a slight pneumonia, but luckily the baby wasn't affected by this.

"Is she going to be okay doctor?" Daisy asked.

"Yes..she is sleeping now and soon she will be awake, rest assured that she will be fine" Doctor replied.

Daisy walked around the hospital anxiously waiting for Kayla to wake up, Even Jake couldn't calm her down and decided to let her be.

After waiting for a while, a nurse then walked up to Daisy to inform her that Kayla was finally awake.

Jake and Daisy rushed into the room and they both hugged Kayla.

Daisy was crying as well as Kayla, Jake tried to be the big guy and comforted them.

Eventually, Kayla and Daisy calmed down and Daisy asked her what exactly she was going under the rain for a long time.

Kayla looked at Jake and that confirmed Jake's suspicions.

Kayla then started to explain " Xavier returned from work really angry last night and decided to throw me out of the house, I tried calling either of you but it wasn't connecting and my phone died. I had no money or cash on me when it started to rain so I could only use a little shed, this morning I walked a while and saw Mia who helped me charge my phone a bit and bought me tea, that's how I was able to reach Jake, then what happened afterward we already know"

Hearing everything Kayla said and how badly Xavier treated her made Jake angry and Daisy started crying again.

"I'm so sorry sis, that I couldn't be there for you," Daisy said.
