Chapter 28
Jake immediately dropped the spoon he was using to stir the pot and he rushed towards Kayla.
"What's the matter?" Jake asked as he helped Kayla up from the ground.
"I'm so doomed Jake...I don't know what I'm going to do next" Kayla cried out.
Jake comforted Kayla and allowed her to cry out, she cried for a while and eventually, she calmed down.
"Have some water, I will get you something to eat" Jake said as he handed Kayla a glass of water and went to the kitchen to get some food.
Kayla with trembling hands collected the glass from Jake.
After Kayla had eaten, Jake allowed her to rest a bit.
"I am pregnant Jake," Kayla stated.
"That doesn't sound like good news Kayla" Jake said.
Kayla then explained to Jake everything that had happened since he traveled, how Xavier took her to the hospital and they found out about the pregnancy, she also revealed to Jake that the baby wasn't for Xavier but Bryan the man she had a one-night stand with.
Jake was quiet, he moved closer to Kayla and hugged her.
Kayla then told Jake about the option Xavier had given her last night and her decision.
"I support your decision, Kayla, I always will," Jake said comforting Kayla.
After a while, Jake decided to put in their favorite show and while they were watching it Kayla fell asleep.
Daisy got out of work and she called Kayla but Jake answered the call instead and told Daisy that Kayla was in his apartment.
Daisy then came over to Jake's apartment but Kayla was still asleep.
After Daisy settled down for a while she started interrogating Jake.
"How long have you known?" Daisy asked.
Jake became uncomfortable when Daisy asked but he remained quiet.
"I asked you before, right? If there was something I needed to know, why didn't you just tell me" Daisy questioned.
"Honestly it wasn't in my position to do so, and I never thought it would lead to this" Jake said in his defense.
"You should have said something at least I deserved to know, it's all my fault that she had to do something like that," Daisy said.
Jake felt guilty so he apologized to Daisy "I am sorry but I already promised Kayla that I wouldn't say a word to you and I felt it was right for you to hear it from her yourself"
"Yes sister…I made him promise not to say anything" Kayla said weakly as she sat up.
"How long have you been awake?" Daisy asked as she moved to the couch where Kayla was and she hugged her.
"Since, you walked right in, but I was too weak to do anything that's why I kept quiet until you started blaming Jake" Kayla explained.
"Defending your best friend I see, you guys always make me feel left out all the time" Daisy Complained.
" It's not that way sister, you know I love love love you," Kayla said as she hugged her sister.
Jake served Daisy food and they all chatted for a while. When it was nine, Kayla decided to go home.
"Are you sure you want to return to that house?" Daisy asked.
"Yes Daisy, I cannot just run away. I still have some things to talk about with Xavier, I know you are worried but rest assured I will be alright" Kayla convinced Daisy so she could go back home.
Jake booked a ride for Kayla and Daisy and they left his apartment.
When Kayla got home she met Xavier in the kitchen,
"Where have you been?" Xavier asked.
"Jake got back in town and I decided to visit him," Kayla replied calmly.
"Whatever suits you," Xavier said and left the kitchen.
Kayla was left alone again, she ate some fruits and headed back to her room
Months passed and Kayla had a new routine, she would leave the house as early as possible and stay at the hospital till night.
Every Evening, Daisy will leave the office to accompany Kayla and from there they will both go their separate ways.
Sometimes the two sisters slept over in the hospital and sometimes Jake accompanied them.
By now, Kayla's pregnancy was already protruding and Daisy took care of her, from healthy meals to ensuring she never missed her checkups, Daisy took very good care of Kayla.
One Evening Kayla was feeling down and she decided to rest a bit at Xavier's penthouse.
When she got there he wasn't at home so she slept off on the couch in the sitting room.
Late at night when Xavier returned home, he saw Kayla lying on the couch. Xavier couldn't get over his anger towards Kayla and he was still irritated whenever he saw her.
The fact that she chose her baby over him when she couldn't even find the one responsible for her condition.
Xavier returned home that night and he was drunk, seeing Kayla raise all the emotions he tried to keep in check.
Xavier enters Kayla's room and starts packing all her things, he is fed up with seeing her and can't tolerate it anymore.
He packed her clothes and other kinds of stuff she had into a box and he flung it across the living room.
The noise woke Kayla up as she jumped up in fear.
She saw Xavier standing across her and her box was right beside her.
"What's going on Xavier?" Kayla asked confused as she sat up
"I need you to leave my house this instant" Xavier shouted.
"Xa..vier, please.." Kayla begged.
"I can't stand you anymore Kayla, you have to leave this house this instant" Xavier insisted.
"I can leave tomorrow Xavier…it's already very late... you can't possibly throw me out please" Kayla begged.
While Kayla was still begging Xavier, Xavier picked up her bag and threw it outside the door, Holding the door open "Kayla leave, I don't want to touch you because of your condition" Xavier insisted.
Kayla picked up herself and carried her phone, she looked around the house one more time and left the house.
Immediately she passed through the door, and Xavier banged the door loudly.
