Chapter 24

When Kayla had left the house, Daisy and Jake talked about the whole marriage stuff.

"Now Kayla is married and she quit her job at the bar, Jake can you help me get a job? I have been searching online but it's futile," Daisy asked.

"Yes. I have been on it for a while now, I'm trying to get you into an office setting because you have the experience and qualifications" Jake replied.

"How long have you known about Xavier's marriage with Kayla?" Daisy asked again.

"Well..she told me after the whole moving process,"Jake answered.

"What else is she hiding from me?"

Daisy questioned again.

*Why would you ask me that?" Jake teased.

"Why did you know about the marriage before me?" Daisy fired back.

"Kayla just brought it up so suddenly," Jake said In his defense.

"If there's something I need to know you'll tell me right?.." Daisy replied.

"Of course, why not," Jake said as he left the room.

The next morning, Daisy and Jake left for the hospital together, Jake stopped by to buy takeouts for Daisy and Kayla because he knew she was going to be at the hospital later on.

The doctors came in for a regular check-up and notified Daisy of the significant improvement in their father's health.

Daisy decided to check her father's Medical bills, she saw that everything was paid for and an advance payment for three months.

Daisy then called Kayla as she wasn't able to reach her last night, Kayla then told her she was coming to the hospital.

Daisy was at the entrance of the hospital when Kayla arrived, she saw Kayla step out of a black Porsche and the driver drove off.

"Sis, you look lovely" Daisy complimented as she hugged Kayla.

"Thank you, sis," Kayla said in return.

Daisy chuckled as they both went upstairs to meet Jake who was already eating.

"You didn't even wait for us Jake" Kayla stated.

"I did but I got tired of waiting." Jake said in return, "So how was your night?" Did any action take place?"

"Shut it, Jake," Kayla said,

Daisy burst into laughter.

"Rate his overall performance please" Jake went on.

"There is nothing to rate, nothing happened last night," Kayla said.

"oh...that's why you are so cranking today, just tell Xavier you need to get laid" Jake went on.

"Please let Kayla be," Daisy interfered.

"Thank you, sis"

Jake chuckled and the trio talked for a while, Kayla got a call that she could move her things back to the house.

So the trio left the hospital to daisy things from Jake's house back to Kayla's apartment.

Kayla decided to stop at a mall and shop.

Kayla helped Daisy select a few dresses and shoes and also had Jake pick out some shoes.

After the shopping spree, Kayla and Daisy headed to Jake's place to pack all their stuff and move back to Kayla's apartment.

Kayla helped Daisy clean up the whole space before she left for Xavier's house.

Using a cab it was easy to locate Xavier's penthouse, when she got home she met Xavier set the dining table.

Scented candles and petals were scattered all over the table, a bottle of wine stood tall at the center of the table, with two plates set opposite each other and cutleries.

"What's going on"? Kayla asked.

"Fine evening to you too" Xavier replied sarcastically.

"Sorry… welcome back, when did you get back?"

"A long time ago, I decided to make dinner for us so that we can spend some more time together," Xavier replied.

"Go shower and get changed so we can eat," Xavier added.

"Alright," Kayla went to her room to change.

When she got back, Xavier pulled out the chair and she sat down.

immediately she started eating.

"Did you make this"? Kayla asked.

"Unfortunately no, I hired a chef for it

I am glad you like it" Xavier replied.

"Did I say so?" Kayla asked again.

"No, but your reaction says it all" Xavier responded.

They both ate their meal silently, after the first course Xavier presented a cake for them to snack on.

"What's your favorite color?" Kayla asked.

" Grey obviously, yours?" Xavier asked.

"All shades of Red," Kayla replied.

They kept on throwing questions back and forth asking the basic questions.

Kayla finished the cake and downed the last drop of wine.

Xavier and Kayla talked more for a while until Kayla decided to retreat for the night.

"Thank you for tonight," Kayla said.

"Thank you for keeping me company," Xavier said in return.

"Have a good night's rest"

"You too"

A week passed and Kayla got a call from Daisy, she had been busy attending gatherings with Xavier.

"I have great news Kayla" Daisy screamed over the phone,

"What is it, Sis"? Kayla asked.

"I got a job!" Daisy screamed.

"Oh my God" Kayla and Daisy screamed at the same time.

Tell me more about it" Kayla demanded.

Daisy went on to tell her about how she had been searching for a job with the help of Jake and finally, she got a call from a company today that she was offered the position.

Kayla decided to meet up to celebrate this great news.

Later that evening, Kayla met up with Daisy and Jake at a bar and they celebrated Daisy's new job.

They drank and celebrated for a while Until Daisy got drunk and Jake offered to take her home, Kayla booked two rides for Daisy and Jake the other for herself.

When she got home, Xavier was already home waiting for her, it had become a custom to have dinner together.

Kayla apologized for coming late and shared the good news with Xavier. They both had dinner together although Kayla could not eat as much as usual.

They chatted for a while and dispersed to their various rooms.
