A month passed, and Kayla lived in harmony with Xavier, they attended necessary gatherings together.

Every morning they will go their separate ways, and at night they will have dinner together.

Since Daisy started her new job, Kayla has always been in the hospital taking care of her father, Jake had an emergency hence he had to travel.

Everything was peaceful and Calm, Kayla was gradually accepting Xavier and looking forward to dinner every night.

All thoughts of Bryan had disappeared from her mind, Xavier was nice to her, Sometimes when she refused to use the card he had given her he would buy her little gifts, sometimes it was perfumes and other times it was shoes or jewelry,

Kayla had this point and could say she was living the life.

Xavier on the other hand, Although was treating her well, refused to let his heart fall in love with Kayla, he still wasn't settled with the fact that she lived with a guy,

The investigation report came in and there was nothing fishy about Jake, but the report missed the fact that he was Gay.

Xavier liked Kayla's company and also looked forward to dinner with her.

On the other hand, Daisy was getting used to her job and the requirements. Her boss Noah was patient and kind towards her.

Every night she will head back to the hospital to see her dad and Kayla before heading home.

Daisy loved her Job and was finally getting over Coman.

Both sisters were happy as things were gradually going well for them.

One Faithful evening, Xavier returned and saw Kayla on the couch, half asleep, her face looking really pale.

Immediately Xavier touched her forehead trying to wake her up he realized that she was burning up, Kayla had a high temperature.

He rushed her to the nearest hospital immediately as he was worried.

Kayla had woken up that morning feeling dizzy and nauseous, she kept on throwing up and had a terrible headache, she took some painkillers but she didn't feel better.

Kayla didn't want to call Daisy as she didn't want her to start taking off on her new job, So she laid on the couch and slept off. That was where Xavier met her and took her to the hospital.

Xavier had the best doctor to attend to Kayla. After an hour of waiting, the doctor came out of the room where Kayla was admitted, with a smile on his face.

Xavier was confused as to why the doctor was smiling,

"Mr Woods, there's nothing to be worried about, this is a common condition amongst pregnant women during their first trimester," the doctor said,

" What"Xavier shouted.

"Pregnant? doctor I don't understand what you are saying?" Xavier asked, confused . At this point all the wheels in his brain were spinning.

" Mr Woods your wife is pregnant, she is already a month and a few weeks gone, and her sensitivity towards things this period…." The doctor was still talking when Xavier walked past him straight into Kayla's room.

He opened the door and saw the nurse was about to leave, gathered her things, put them on a tray, and left the room.

"Thank you Xavier for bringing me here," Kayla said weakly as she was still unaware of her condition.

"How long have you known about it?"

Xavier asked.

"Know about what?" Kayla asked confused.

"For God's sake don't play dumb with me," Xavier shouted.

Kayla tried to sit up as she was really confused

" You are pregnant for fuck sake Kayla, so tell me how long you have known about your pregnancy" Xavier shouted.

Kayla stilled immediately she heard what Xavier said, images from that night she had spent with Bryan flooded her brain, she hadn't used protection with Bryan that night.

"Why are you quiet? say something for fuck sake?" Xavier screamed as he kicked the dustbin beside Kayla's bed.

Kayla flinched back, she was petrified, she had never seen Xavier this way and she didn't know what to say.

"You agreed to marry me despite knowing the fact that you are carrying another man's child" Xavier stated angrily.

"Xavier… I'm as surprised as you right now…." Kayla started.

"Kayla right now I am anything but surprised?" Xavier shouted.

"How long have you been with the man who got you pregnant? did you leave him because he suddenly had no more money or what?" Xavier questioned.

This statement hurt Kayla as tears streamed down her eyes "Believe me, Xavier ... .if I had known that I was pregnant I wouldn't have agreed to your proposal Kayla said.

Xavier looked at Kayla and instant regret filled his heart.

"Please please doctor check me again...I truly cannot be pregnant" Kayla said as more tears rolled from her eyes.

Xavier left the ward to get the doctor.

"Ma'am it's already confirmed that you are pregnant but if you want me to carry out another test then so be it" The doctor explained.

"Yes doctor please check me again", Kayla said.

The doctor then drew out blood from and into a tube, he then headed out to the lab to carry out the test.

Xavier waited patiently without saying a word, while Kayla thought about all the signs she had ignored, She had missed her period twice but felt like it was because of the stress, her increased appetite, and constant fatigue, Kayla didn't want to admit the truth but she already knew it her heart that she was doomed.
