Chapter 42 What the Night Conceals - Chapter 6
The candlelight danced on the bedroom walls, casting shifting shadows over the intertwined bodies. Alyssa lay on the black sheets, her golden skin a stark contrast against the dark fabric, while Kaio and Samuel observed her from opposite ends of the bed. The air was thick with the scent of sex and longing, a heady blend that quickened Alyssa's heartbeat.
"Where do you want us to begin?" Kaio asked, his fingers tracing slow circles on Alyssa's inner thigh, sending shivers through her.
She turned her gaze to Samuel, who stood as still as a statue, his dark eyes ablaze with an intensity that was almost frightening.
"Samuel," she whispered, extending her hand towards him. "Come here."
For a moment, he hesitated. Then, in a swift move, he bridged the gap between them, claiming her lips in a kiss that was more of a declaration than a request. His large hands enveloped her breasts, squeezing them with a pressure that bordered on pain, but only served to heighten Alyssa's arousal.
Kaio wasn't left out for long. His mouth found Alyssa's nape, his teeth grazing the sensitive skin while his hands roamed her body, exploring every curve.
"Damn, she's flawless," Kaio grumbled, his voice rough with longing.
Samuel didn't reply, too engrossed in exploring Alyssa's mouth, but his gaze met Kaio's over her shoulder, and an unspoken understanding passed between them.
It was Kaio who broke the contact first, sliding down Alyssa's body and parting her legs with his hands.
"Let me show you something," he whispered, before burying his face between her thighs.
Alyssa cried out, her fingers tangling in Samuel's hair as Kaio pleasured her with a skill that made her see stars. Samuel watched, captivated, before joining in, his mouth finding her breasts, suckling a nipple until it was hard and sensitive.
The night morphed into a haze of sensations—hands, mouths, bodies moving in perfect harmony. One moment, Alyssa was straddling Kaio, her breasts swaying with each movement, while Samuel kissed her from behind. The next, she was on her knees, alternating between the two men, her body slick with sweat and marked by their touch and bites.
It was when Samuel finally entered her from behind, with Kaio positioned in front of her, that Alyssa experienced the most intense climax of her life. Her body arched, sandwiched between the two men, as they drove her to the brink repeatedly, until she could no longer discern where one ended and the other began.
Alyssa woke up with the sun's rays warming her face, her body aching but gratified. She reached out, seeking Samuel's warmth, but found only the vacant space in the bed.
Sitting upright, she noticed Kaio sound asleep on the other side of the bed, his bare torso etched with scratches she knew were her own handiwork. But Samuel was conspicuously absent.
She discovered him on the balcony, clad only in jeans, puffing on a cigarette while gazing at the horizon. His back was taut, his shoulders as rigid as stone.
"Samuel," she called out, stepping onto the balcony to join him.
He didn't pivot to face her immediately, but when he did, his eyes were icy and aloof.
"It shouldn't have happened," he stated, his voice rough yet steady.
A chill coursed through Alyssa's stomach.
"You didn't desire it?"
He shut his eyes for a moment, as though battling with himself.
"It's not a matter of desire. It's a matter of what's right."
"And our feelings aren't right?" she challenged, her voice louder than she had intended.
Samuel finally met her gaze, and what she saw there made her recoil.
"We can't keep going on like this, Alyssa."
Before she could respond, he walked past her, heading back into the house.
Kaio woke up as Alyssa entered the room, his face still etched with disappointment.
"Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," he joked, before noticing her expression. "Ah. Samuel."
Alyssa sat on the bed, her fingers tracing the rumpled sheets where the three of them had slept.
"He's remorseful."
Kaio let out a sigh, settling down next to her.
"He's always remorseful. It's his nature."
"What does that imply?"
Kaio pivoted his face towards hers, his eyes reflecting a seriousness she had never witnessed before.
That implies he's never going to confess, Alyssa. Are you ready for that?
She gazed at him, feeling a knot forming in her throat.
And what if I'm not?
Kaio gave a smile, but there was no happiness in it.
Then maybe it's better you take off while you still have the chance.
Alyssa stayed seated on the edge of the bed, her fingers woven into the still warm sheets where Samuel had been. His scent still lingered in the fabric - a blend of sweat, sex, and that woodsy cologne that always drove her wild.
Kaio observed her intently, his sharp gaze capturing every microexpression that crossed her face.
He's always been like this," Kaio broke the silence, stretching his arms above his head. "After the first time we shared the same woman, he didn't speak to me for a week.
Alyssa looked up.
Has this happened before?
Kaio let out a dry laugh.
"Darling, you're not the first woman to unite us. Just the first one that truly matters." His fingers toyed with a strand of her hair. "And that's exactly why he's terrified."
The sound of the front door slamming resonated throughout the house. Alyssa rushed to the window just in time to see Samuel getting into the car with abrupt movements.
"He's leaving," she whispered, feeling a knot in her stomach.
Kaio appeared behind her, his warm presence pressing against her exposed back.
"Give him time. Samuel always comes back." His hands glided down her arms. "In the meantime..."
Suddenly, Alyssa pulled away.
"No. It's not just that." She picked up the silk robe from the floor and draped it around herself like a shield. "You act as if it's simply a matter of waiting for him to get over his moralistic stance, but it's not."
Kaio tilted his head, looking at her with newfound curiosity.
Then enlighten me, princess.
She drew a deep breath, the truth feeling like a knife lodged between her ribs.
"Yes, he does want me. But he's never truly going to choose me." Her fingers clenched the fabric of her robe. "And you know that as much as I do."
The ensuing silence was more telling than any reply.
Kaio slowly closed the distance, approaching like one would a skittish animal. When he spoke, his voice was unexpectedly gentle.
"And what are you planning to do now?"
Alyssa stared at the vacant road where Samuel's car had vanished. Something within her — something warm yet dangerous — began to crystallize.
"I'm going to force him to make a choice."
Kaio let out a low, impressed whistle.
"That's either brave or suicidal."
She pivoted to face him, her expression resolute.
"Will you assist me?"
Kaio studied her intently for a drawn-out moment before replying. When he did, his smile was a dangerous and seductive mix.
"Darling, you can't even begin to understand how much I adore a good drama."
Outside, the wind started to whip up, stirring the trees ominously. Alyssa felt her heart pounding, not from fear, but from anticipation.
Samuel could make a run for it now. But night was still falling. And with it, the moment of reckoning.
