Chapter Ninety-Five

***Kautious ***

The display at the front of the nursery store is absolutely phenomenal. It had two wolf statues holding up a set of 5 shelves. On the shelves sat little music boxes, sound boxes, little light boxes that displayed the night sky, and a few stuffed animals. One in particular caught my eye. It was a family of wolves lying in a cave entrance, all looking outward. You can see the little light at the top of the cave and when you press the bottom, the night sky is displayed across the ceiling to make it look as if the wolves are watching the stars. I pick it up carefully and turn to my alphas before speaking shyly, “I would really like this if that’s okay.” Hadrian approached me, kissing my head gently, “Of course, love. You can get it. Get anything you want.” I nod and carefully set it in the cart we got, towards the top so that it wouldn’t get damaged. Even if I don’t put it in the nursery, it would be nice for my nesting room. I absolutely love the night sky. It relaxes me. Maybe one day we can do a nighttime date and run under the moon or something.

I am snapped out of my thoughts by Faye nudging me gently, “Look at this!” In her hands, she held a black baby blanket that had little wolves on it in grays. She smiles happily and lays it against her belly before looking up at me again, “Do you think the pup would like it?” I smile softly at my sweet little mate before nodding, “I think they’ll love it. They would love anything chosen by a loving mother like you.” He pulls me into a tight hug, “You will be a great mother too, Kautious. You will be greatly loved by all our pups.” We pull apart and share a small smile before we walk further into the store. I head to the section with baby blankets and other small room decorations while Faye heads over to the cribs. I find a soft blanket that’s a nice navy blue color with little glow in the dark stars on it, and I am immediately in love with it. I drape it over my arm and see there are a few decorations that would match a space theme. They have glow-in-the-dark planets and stars. They also have a planet mobile that you can hang from a crib or the ceiling in the middle of the room. I grab the mobile and a few glow-in-the-dark star packets and bring them over to Scorpius, who has the basket with my wolf den decoration in it. I gently place my items down, and he smiles at me before speaking softly, “Finding things okay?” I nod my head and sigh, “Yes, I am finding things okay, but I don’t think I’ll get more than this today. Just in case.”

He gives me a sad smile and walks around the cart to hold my hand, “Kautious, things will be okay this time. We’ll make sure of it.” I nod and stand by the cart, waiting on Faye and Hadrian as Scorpius and I make small talk about the items I chose. Once Hadrian and Faye were done, they met us at the front of the store to check out, and we made our way back home. I was so excited to put the little wolf’s den in my nesting room and get it set up again. It’s been literal months since I’ve been in there or touched it. Once inside, I make my way up the stairs and head for my nesting room, the item in hand, before Scorpius stops me outside the door. I look up at him curiously and raise an eyebrow, waiting for him to speak. He smiles, looking slightly nervous, “I know it’s been a while since you’ve been in here, but I have a surprise for you.” I tilt my head, “A surprise?” He nods and takes my hand, “I’ve done some work in there for you. I hope you like it and it makes you feel better about everything.” I bite my lip and nod, Scorpius taking this as a sign to open the door. Slowly, we walk inside, and I can’t help but gasp as tears reach my eyes.

On the wall across from the door, there in the center, is an enlarged picture of my ultrasound of our lost pup. Around it are pictures of my mates, Imani, Rollie, Brad and Tristan, and Jack. All the people I love and cherish. There’s also a new charcoal gray fluffy rug across the majority of the floor. A new recliner in the corner that looks like it would be good for naps with a wolf stuffed animal on it. My windows also have better blackout curtains. I turn to Scorpius with tears rolling down my face, “You did all this for me?” He nods and rubs his hands together, “Do you like it?” I fling myself at him, my arms wrapping around his neck and my legs around his hips as he catches me, “I absolutely love it, Scorp. It is amazing! Thank you so much! Especially for the pictures! They’re my favorite part!” Scorpius gives me a big smile and kisses my cheek, “I’m so glad you like it. I was nervous it would upset you. I also restored you a side table to go next to the recliner if you would like to set up your wolf den thing on it.” I nod my head vigorously, and he sets me down. I pick up the wolf den from where I dropped it on the fluffy carpet and set it on the side table. Pressing the button and the ceiling instantly fills with the color of the night sky and millions of little stars. I let out a content sigh and just glanced at the ceiling, looking for constellations to see how accurate it is.

I hear my door accidentally hit the wall, jogging me from my thoughts. Hadrian is standing there sheepishly with my newer bean bag mattress I got since I destroyed the old one with blood and other stuff in my fit of tearing the room apart. I smile at him and gesture to where I want it. Scorpius helps him grab it, and they bring it over to the wall that has the pictures on it, and I can’t help but smile. It will be nice to be able to lay in bed and look up at the photos of people I love when I need comfort, even our little angel pup. As they are finished adjusting the mattress, Faye walks into the room and gasps, “This is beautiful! Kautious, you did amazing!” I blush and smile shyly, “Scorpius did it for me, actually. He’s apparently been working on this surprise for a while.” Faye walks up to me and hugs me, “You deserve this beautiful space to be all yours, love.” I smile and bring her over to the bean bag bed and collapse on it with her, the alphas joining us shortly after, smiling and laughing to our heart’s content. Everything right now feels great, and I hope things stay this way for a while!
