Chapter Ninety-Six

After a while of laying in Kautious’ nesting room, laughing and making small talk with my mates, I decided it was time to get up and make dinner. It’s been a long day and I’m sure we are all hungry, especially our 2 omegas. I still can’t believe they’re both pregnant at the same time. It is absolutely amazing, but I know it’ll be a lot of work once all the pups are here. I’m ready though because I have all of my mates and my mom and all of our friends. We have an amazing support system. As I’m standing at the counter cutting more fruit, I start to think about a few things. First off, I need to talk to the omegas about who they want the godparents to be of the pups, just incase the event something awful happens to all of us for some reason. Second, I need to ask Kautious when his next doctor’s appointment is. Third, I think Scorpius needs to invite his family and us to do a big family dinner with everyone one day soon so we can announce Kautious’ pregnancy, as well as Faye’s, to those who don’t know already. I start to plan things out in my head as I make us steak and some baked potatoes to go with it. I have the sliced fruit and some grilled veggies done already. I think I’ll make some banana pudding for dessert.
I’m just starting on the dessert when I hear footsteps in the kitchen. I look over my shoulder to see Scorpius just entering the kitchen. I give him a smile and go back to what I’m doing. He approaches the counter next to me, leaning on it with his arms crossed, before speaking, “Thank you for cooking dinner. I know today has been exhausting. You could have asked me to help.” I shake my head, “It’s fine, babe. You’ve been just as busy. It’s the least I can do. But hey, I wanted to talk to you about something.” He tilts his head at me, “Yeah, what’s up? Everything okay?” I nod, “Everything is okay. I was just thinking you should invite your dad, Kai, and Miranda soon so that we can tell them the news about both Faye and Kautious being pregnant. It’s been a while since we’ve seen them anyway. It would be nice. We can have a big dinner with everyone we care about.” Scorpius bites his lip and nods, “Yeah, I can do that. When would you like them here, though?” I finish the banana pudding and bring everything to the table for us to eat. Scorpius helping grab and bring things as well. Once I set the steak down I look at him, “Let’s see when Kautious’ next doctor appointment is, then we can set it for then or the day after if that works. That way, he may have ultrasound photos for those who ask.” Scorpius nods, and before he can speak again, I interrupt him, “Can you go get them so we can eat and talk about it? Because we need to talk about the godparents of the pups as well.”
As Scorpius goes to get the omegas for dinner, I go to the fridge and get a pitcher of water and sweet tea, bringing them back to the table with 4 cups. When I reach the table again, everyone is seated. I see Faye squirming excitedly to eat, and I can’t help but chuckle, “Dig in, loves. You guys don’t need to wait on me.” Everyone fixes their plates, Kautious fixing mine for me. I pour everyone what they want to drink, and then I sit down, thanking Kautious for the plate of food, to which he gives a shy nod as he blushes. I take a bite before bringing up our dinner topics, “Okay, first topic. Kautious, when is your next doctor’s appointment to check on the pup?” Kautious looks thoughtful for a moment, “2 days from now. The doctor wants me to go often to avoid complications. I should be able to get an ultrasound at this appointment to see the pup, too, even if it’s a little bean.” I nod, “That’s what I wanted to hear. I’m glad they’re being cautious due to the last time. I was telling Scorpius he should invite his family, and we should invite everyone we are close to and care about to dinner to tell them the news about both of you being pregnant if they don’t already know. How about the evening of your doctor’s appointment?” He nods his approval, but Faye speaks up before he can, “Can we invite Brad and Tristan too?” I nod, “Yes. I want to have my mom, Brad, Tristan, Rollie, Jack, Akamu, Kai, and Miranda. Am I missing anyone?” Scorpius looks thoughtful, “I don’t think so. Not off the top of my head anyway.” Faye shrugs, “I think that’s all.” Kautious bites his lip, “That’s all for me.” I smile, “Okay, then on to my next thing. I would like to discuss who will be the godparents for the pups on the odd chance that something does happen to all of us. Do you 2 have any ideas so far? I know it’s a bit early.” Faye nods eagerly, “Yes. Yes, I think I’d like Brad and Tristan if that’s okay!” I tilt my head and look at everyone else, “Is that okay with everyone?” Scorpius nods and looks at Kautious. Kautious smiles before speaking, “I think that would be lovely, and they’d be happy. As for me, if it’s okay with everyone, I’d like for the godparents to be Kai and Rollie. I know it’s normally a couple or one of them is in a female-type role, but if something happened to us, they are who I would trust most with my pup.”
Scorpius stands up and hugs Kautious tightly, but not tight enough to harm him, “I think they would be absolutely honored, baby, especially Kai.” I stare at Kautious, slightly starstruck, “The fact that you could have chosen anyone, absolutely anyone YOU wanted to, says a lot about you choosing Kai alongside Rollie. Especially because we don’t see Kai as often as we should. That says a lot about the trust you have in him and how strong your bond is.” I turn to Faye, “And you as well, Faye. Brad and Tristan aren’t blood family, they only just joined our pack. But the fact of how you all helped each other survive that nasty old pack of yours says a lot about the trust you put in each other. I am proud of both of your choices and I think they will all feel honored.” Faye beams at me, “Thank you! I can’t wait to tell them!” Kautious looks thoughtful, “Why not make them each a small gift to give to them at dinner, asking them to be the godparents?” She squeals, “I LOVE THAT IDEA!” I smile at my mates, “Do you know how you’ll announce your pregnancy to everyone, Kautious? No one knows except us and the doctor, so do you have anything in mind to announce it?” He nods, “I think I’ll do small gifts like I told Faye to do, but I’ll do special handmade ones for the godparents.” I nod and take a sip of my water, “That’s great love. I can’t wait till dinner. Scorpius, don’t forget to call your father after this since he finally got a phone.” I watch my mates happily eat and chatter. I can’t wait until dinner for everyone to be together.
