Chapter 136 The Curse of The Golden Conjunction

Chapter 136 The Curse of The Golden Conjunction
Kayne's POV
"Okay," I said. "First, it's important for you to know who your master is. For that, if you can get a spell name, we can tell you who the master is."
"Spell name?" Roffe said, surprised.
"So, are you saying you all have different spells?" Ivalio asked.
"Well, the normal doctor type cold and flu," I said. "Yes, every witch knows how change a dog into a frog. But complex ones, traveling from one place to another, reviving dead to life, curing an ailment, that is all hereditary."
"But," Dylan said. "Even if you're a hereditary witch, being able to do what, depends on how much you can learn from your family, and how much you're blessed with."
"Blessed with?" Ivalio said, confused.
"Yes," Carlos said. "What dad meant is, witchcraft does pass on from one generation to another, but how much, depends on you. How perfect or imperfect it will be, depends on the soul. Like, I can take two people with me and take you anywhere within a hundred miles area. Whereas, Zenith, Drake's wife, can take five people in a five hundred mile area."
"So much difference?" Roffe said, surprised.
"The reason is," Zenith said, smiling. "I began to practice when I was three. Brother Carlos began when he was thirteen."
"Oh," Ivalio said. "But with Pilan it must be different. After all, she must have met her master when she was an adult."
"Likely," Lux said. "As you said, she's a Lycan. So, definitely. If she was a human and knew her master before, say in her teens, it's possible to learn from then on as well."
"Now," Grace said. "regarding the Golden Conjunction. If Pilan is waiting for it, then she's up to no good."
"Yes," Lux said. "The Golden Conjunction is the rare alignment of Mars, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, and Juptier. The conjunction is called the Golden Age as it symbolizes spirituality and rebirth."
"So," Grace said. "Pilan probably wants to consume the immortal herbs and become immortal then."
"But," Ivalio said. "She's already eighty. She said, 'She wants the immortal herbs so she can live to see the Golden--"
"She already is," Dylan said. "But she's not able to maintain it, so--"
"Ivalio," Roffe said. "Could she be the sh--"
"Roffe," Ivalio stopped him.
"Looks like you know more and can't tell." I said. "You can come with your Alpha's then."
"Sir--"
"Ivalio," I said. "We understand. You have your limits and cannot disclose every detail. But to help you, we need all the details. You know another side of Pilan. Unless we don't know about that, we can't pinpoint the master."
"It's a shadow." Ivalio said.
"You trust us?" Dalia said surprised.
"Yes," Ivalio said. "We wolves have a trait. Scent. We can smell fear, anger, happiness, sadness in any living soul. You all are relaxed and not hiding anything from us. Apart from you all, there are exactly five others on that side."
"Wow!" Ophelia said shocked. "That's where our kitchen is! Can you tell who? I mean male-female."
"Sorry," Ivalio said. "Gender doesn't have a specific smell, Breeds or species do. They are humans, not witches."
"Wow!" Ophelia said. "Three cooks and two maids, and yes they're pure humans."
"So," Grace said. "What do you mean by saying shadow?"
"Oh, that." Ivalio said. "A shadow stole the immortal herbs, and as I said, it's a shadow. It looks like a shadow, but has a body mass, and one of our's saw her. The description is of a more than four hundred year old woman who looks young at times, and aged at times. The reason we thought it's not Pilan is, cause the shadow already stole the herbs, and Pilan said in return for the herbs, she can help catch the shadow."
"A shadow?" I said. "Dyaln do you think..."
"The Serenity Witches?" Dylan said. "Most likely."
"And who are they?" Ivalio asked.
"The Serenity Witches," Carlos said. "is a coven well known for doing all that is forbidden in the witch world."
"They've helped a lot of humans in reviving their dead." Ophlia said. "They help control minds so the controller can do as well."
"And," Serphina said. "They think the more apprentices they have, the more famous they'll get."
"And," Grace said. "I heard they had an apprentice who stole a rare stone from them. Maybe that apprentice might be Pilan."
"But Pilan said she was kicked out because a spell went bad." Roffe said.
"I don't think Pilan will tell she stole a rare stone and still ask you to trust her." Grace said.
"If so," Roffe said. "Could that stone be the reason she can turn into a shadow?"
"The stone that she stole," I said. "is a healing stone. It can treat ailments like cancer. But turning into a shadow? No, but the Serenity Witch coven we just told you about, can. As said, they do all that forbidden by witches."
"But the fact," Dylan said. "That the shadow already stole the herbs, and Pilan says, she can help you catch it, points to two facts. One, she's telling the truth. Two, she's getting your trust to do more."
"And," Grace said. "From what we heard, especially if she's an apprentice of the Serenity Witches, it's second."
"If she is the shadow, then she already has the herbs." Ivalio said. "Then what else could she want?"
"Maybe," Serphina said. "She didn't."
"No," Roffe said. "That's confirmed cause a guardian already saw her or it stealing them, and Lady Julia confirmed not a single piece was left. Or else, we could have known."
"You mean if she held and let go or it fell?" Dylan said.
"Yes," Ivalio said. "Her scent would have been on the herb."
"Can we come over at your Ashstone Forest?" I asked. "I think if we can cast a spell-bind, we might be able to pinpoint exactly who the shadow is."
"Yes," Drake said smiling. "We also have some traits, but our proximity has to be at face distance."
"Well," Ivalio said. "Our alpha leaders will be delighted, but I still want to let them know in advance before you can come. Is that okay?"
"Of course," Dyaln summons an owl. "His name is Murphy. Call for him and he'll bring your message to us."
"Murphy," Dyaln said. "From now on you shall listen to the Ashstone Forest beings."
Murphy hooted.
"Okay," Ivalio and Roffe got up and took their leave.
"Uncle Kayne," Drake said. "Do you really believe what they said? I mean after seeing what that Roffe turned into."
"Drake," I said. "What he did was real. There was no magic attached. And, we cannot deny there are beings we still are to meet. Wolves are one of them."
"We've seen--"
"Ever seen a wolf and a human merge into a huge wolf?" Drake said. Seeing the other's shocked face, he says, "Exactly. I saw it, those two are that."
"The traits they know," Grace said. "Are also natural, not magical."
"Okay, let's wait now for them." I said.
