Chapter 609 Got Rich!
Chapter 609 Got Rich!
His voice was filled with surprise and tension, and beads of sweat began to form on his forehead.
Seeing this, Emily's face turned pale.
Despite all her precautions, she never expected Lisa to upload Linda's photo to social media.
If Arthur saw this photo, it would be a disaster.
She had guarded this secret for twenty years and couldn't let anyone discover Linda's identity.
Her hand gripped the tablet tightly, her knuckles turning pale from the pressure, her eyes filled with anger and urgency.
Emily slapped the tablet with one hand and sternly said to Nick, "Quick, take down the trending topic and block Lisa's account. Make sure no one sees this photo. Freeze all accounts that have shared it."
Her voice trembled slightly with anger and urgency, each word carrying a powerful force.
"Yes, Ms. Watson." Nick, intimidated by Emily's presence, quickly responded and began working on the screen with swift and practiced movements. Sweat dripped from his forehead onto the screen.
Curtis, who was a step behind, heard Emily's orders and quickly pulled out his phone, calling the Watson Group's PR department.
He knew the seriousness of the situation and that they needed to issue a statement immediately. They had to use the Watson Group's live-streaming app to create the illusion of account maintenance, or else public opinion would spiral out of control.
His voice was urgent and tense as he relayed various tasks to the person on the other end of the line.
Meanwhile, Arthur was sitting in a rundown apartment, massaging his sore leg and idly scrolling through his phone.
On a headline that hadn't yet gained much traction, he suddenly saw a few words: #The Watson Group's Heiress, So Beautiful.#
A flicker of curiosity crossed his eyes, and he instinctively clicked on the image.
As he enlarged the photo to get a better look, it suddenly disappeared.
Determined, Arthur reopened his social media app and searched for "The Watson Group Heiress," but found nothing.
This was too strange, he thought.
If he wasn't mistaken, the woman in the photo looked just like Zoey—the woman he had once kidnapped, the one who had given him twelve daughters.
But how could she be the Watson Group's heiress?
His brow furrowed deeply as he pondered the possibilities.
Arthur's mind raced, considering various scenarios.
He thought of the most plausible explanation, 'Could it be that Joe Watson has adopted Emily because she resembles his daughter? Or is the woman in the photo Zoey's twin sister?'
But that didn't make sense. He had never heard of Zoey having a sister, and the Watson Group only had one daughter. What was going on?
Arthur's eyes were filled with confusion and bewilderment, like someone lost in the dark, unable to find their way.
Leroy, sitting next to him, noticed Arthur staring at his phone and gave him a nudge with his foot. "What are you doing? Acting all weird. I told you, don't be a coward. With me backing you up, just go live and ruin Emily's reputation. Make her life miserable."
Leroy was a tough character, his words carrying a menacing edge. His eyes gleamed with a ruthless light, as if he wanted to tear Emily apart.
Arthur quickly interrupted, "Wait, listen to me."
His voice carried a hint of urgency, trying to stop Leroy's impulsiveness.
"Listen to what? I feed you and take care of you, and you won't do anything? Are you scared of her?" Leroy said impatiently.
"I've already checked. Paul is in Lumina now. He has no influence here. What can she do to us?"
"This is a society governed by law. Everything has to be reasonable, right?"
"Besides, you just want your daughter to take care of you in your old age. Is that wrong? Use public opinion to criticize her."
His voice grew louder and more agitated, as if declaring his determination to the world.
Arthur, holding his phone, turned to Leroy and said, "I think I just saw Zoey."
His eyes were filled with confusion and unease, like a child who had done something wrong.
"Zoey? Who?" Leroy scratched his head, rubbed his feet, and looked up at Arthur in confusion. "Your dead wife?"
His face showed surprise and puzzlement, not understanding why Arthur would suddenly mention Zoey.
"Yes. And no." Arthur stammered, his voice trembling, unsure how to explain his discovery to Leroy.
"What do you mean, yes and no? Speak clearly." Leroy urged, his eyes filled with impatience, eager to know the truth.
Arthur quickly summarized his suspicions.
Leroy frowned, considering a possibility that was different from Arthur's but closer to the truth.
A sly smile spread across Leroy's face. He poked his finger, adjusted his pants, stood up, and patted Arthur on the shoulder. "Arthur. Your luck is incredible. Come on, let's go eat."
His smile was filled with calculation, as if planning a bigger scheme.
Arthur stood up, bewildered, and asked, "What's going on?"
His eyes were filled with confusion, not understanding why Leroy suddenly said that.
Leroy slapped Arthur on the head and cursed, "Fuck you, we're going to get rich, that's what's going on."
His voice carried a hint of excitement and pride, as if he could already see the dawn of success.
"But, Leroy, the photo is gone," Arthur said timidly.
His voice was filled with disappointment and fear, worried that his plan would fall apart.
