Chapter 23 Nerida won't stop
CHAPTER 23.

I watched them from where I stood - Alpha Damian and Princess Rivera.
I felt a little bit weird, just watching them talk. I have no idea but I didn't like the view.
What was I thinking? That he isn't going to agree to get engaged to her?
Without trying to deny it, they both look so good together.. Same royal blood, same status.
They are both the perfect match.
What was I thinking? That I can walk side by side with Alpha Damian as his mate? Nothing clicks between the both of us.
That's why I asked him to reject me so I can be free from this whole connection. He bluntly refused.
If he's agreeing to get married to Princess Rivera, why is he refusing to let me go?
But then, I'm so curious to know what they are both discussing. Why does it look like Alpha Damian is pleased with whatever she was telling him?
I know since I have been marked, I can hear his thoughts.
But I don't want to. First, I'm scared because he's the Alpha.. And second, maybe I don't have the right to do that.
Since I've had enough of staring at the both of them, I lowered my head to the ground and began drawing some meaningless things on the ground with my foot.
I returned back to the slave quarters after Aloha Damian and Princess Rivera were done talking.
But, I was awfully sad.. jealous and angry.
I guess my feelings have grown out of control now that I've been marked. I can't get over the damn feeling and it's killing me.
We stood in line, waiting to get our meal.
Becky stood behind me and I didn't realize she had been calling out to me, not until I was tapped on my shoulder.
“Yes?..” I turned to her.
“Right in front of you Lilith”
At first, I was a bit confused.. But when I looked at my front, I realized I had to move.
I took three steps and covered the space.
“Are you okay?.. You looked disturbed” She asked.
“I am”
“Is it something that has to do with Alpha Damian?” She asked in a whisper but I was scared others might hear it.
I quickly clamped my hands over her lips. She chuckled.
“Careful.. Becky”
I took my hands off.
“Don't worry, Lilith… No one heard me”
I rolled my eyes and turned.
It's finally my turn to get my meal.. I stretched out my plate to Nerida who served the dishes.
I watched her keenly.. She scooped some into the spoon and rather than putting it in my plate, she let it fall to the ground.
She did all that on purpose. Nothing is a mistake on Nerida's part. She does everything on purpose when it comes to me.
“What did you just do, Nerida?”
I stared at the littered food on the floor, then back at her.
She had a devilish smirk plastered on her face.
“Oops!.. Sorry” She said dramatically and her minions laughed.
“You did that on purpose right?” My looks turned into a glare.
I frowned deeply, biting my lower lips.
“What do you mean by I did that on purpose? Do you always want to prove sharp mouthed, Lilith?”
I didn't say a word and I didn't move either.
“Do you want another food? You can eat the ones on the floor.. that's where dogs like you eat from, am I right?”
She asked her minions and they all laughed like this was some kind of comedy play.
I wonder why she always derives joy by hurting others.
“What? Are you going to have me report to Alpha Damian?”
I still didn't say a word.
“What you are doing is unfair, Nerida… this is totally wrong” Becky shouted from behind.
Nerida's face contoured into a deep frown.
“Seems like someone wants to go hungry tonight”
“That's okay, Becky. Get your food and let's leave”
I was never away from the line and Neruda gave Becky's portion to her. I waited because I thought she's still going to do the same thing to Becky as well.
Becky and I returned back to our room. I settled down on my usual spot.. Beside the wall with knees raised up.
She sat beside me, placing her food in between us.
“C'mon.. let's eat, Lilith”
I looked at the food, then back at her.
“What food?”
She gestured at her plate.
I laughed.
“Your food is barely enough to satisfy you, Becky and you want to share it with me?”
“I don't mind. We eat just once, Lilith.. You have had anything to eat since last night and I can't let you go to bed on an empty stomach”
“I'm okay, Becky”
“Don't lie to me. you are starving and I know that..”
As if to prove her point, my tummy made a loud sound, agreeing to get words.
I wrapped my hands around my tummy and looked away.
“That wasn't me” I denied.
“Right. It's the wall behind you. Well, if you aren't going to eat, then I'm not eating. We can just leave the food right here for geckos to come have a taste of it”
She pushed the food aside.
“Eww!” I was irritated.
“Eww!” She mimicked. “It's all your fault if geckos start crawling up to it”
Left with no other option, I pulled the plates back and grabbed a spoon.
“Let's eat, Becky”
She smiled and we both began to eat.
“About Alpha Damian.. Do you think he's going to get engaged to Princess Rivera?”
I stopped eating and looked at her.. The question stung me really deep. I recalled how quietly they spoke to each other and from the look of things, they seem to be on the same page.
I shrugged.
“I have no idea”
“You're jealous, Lilith”
“What?... I'm not” I denied.
“Yes you are. it's written all over your eyes. You are definitely jealous”
“I'm not” I denied.
“Okay.. if you say so”
I went back to eating.
But that's ridiculous.. How can I be jealous? I have no right to be jealous, right?
Two consecutive times, I had hope from two men. I thought they would both want to accept me.. or at least one of them.
Twice, I've been called an Omega and treated like a piece of trash.
To the first one, he simply wants me to be his fling.. To the second… Perhaps, I'm just a tool to quench his desires.
“Stop thinking and concentrate on the food, else I'm going to start teasing you again”
Becky broke into my thoughts.. I simply rolled my eyes at her.
“You're so annoying”
