Chapter 22 Her delusional thoughts
CHAPTER 22.
\-ALPHA DAMIAN-
I know she has a lot going on in her head. Quite a lot because I can read her thoughts.
She still isn't aware of that fact.
I know what she has felt the past two days… Acting like it's all on her.
She has become more reserved, That the Lilith I know. she wouldn't even look at me and it's all because of what happened.
“Lilith?..”
She turned around slowly, her head lowered to the ground.
“Yes?..”
“Why don't you say what you have in mind rather than keeping everything locked up in your head. C'mon, say it”
It was more like a challenge put forward to her.
I know what she wants to say to me.
I dare her to say it to my face if she has the guts to.
“Reject me, Alpha Damian”
I smirked inwardly… Stood up and began walking towards her.
My arms were folded to the back while I took slow and steady steps closer.
I expected her to move back as I approached just the way she always does but she stood her ground firmly, staring directly into my eyes.
I covered the distance and stood right in front of her.
“Repeat what you just said”
“Reject me, Alpha Damian. I am of no use to you. Why would we keep being mates? Cut all connections with me”
Her eyes.. Her mind and body keeps betraying her while she tries to be confident.
“Never!”
Her eyes narrowed at me.
“Never?”
“Never!.. I won't reject you, Lilith. Not now.. not ever”
“I am just a slave. You said it yourself.. so why don't you just let be go”
“You are stuck with me, Lilith. You are my mate and there's nothing changing that. Get that idea off your head. If you have nothing else to say, Leave Lilith”
I turned and walked back to my seat.
She stood for a while.. Obviously glaring daggers at me right now but I ignored and continued going over an encyclopedia.
Rejection? She dare ask for rejection? That's never going to happen. Not even in her dreams.

I sent for Beta Lucien when I couldn't get Lilith out of my head.
Behind the scared look, I could see the pain in her eyes.
How deeply she wanted to have something to hold on to buy I crushed that hope before it even existed.
I wonder what has broken her so much. I said just a few words, and she let it break her fragile heart.
I didn't speak to Beta Lucien about her.. As an Alpha, I think it's better not speaking about my private life to anyone.
I think it's like a culture that I find interesting.
We talked about the pack while taking a walk through some neighbouring areas around the royal house.
We moved alongside my guards and Lilith. Being my personal maid, she was to come with me when I took a walk.
I might need a few things in the process or perhaps, just her presence.
After taking a walk and observing the royal farm.. seeing how green and enriching it is, I'm impressed by the hard work put forward by the farm staff.
We returned to the palace afterwards but as soon as we reached the entrance, Princess Rivera showed up.
“I'm glad you are back, Alpha Damian. But I wish you speak with you, in private”
I signaled to Beta Lucien to leave and when he was gone, I faced her.
“Tell me”
“Why don't we take a walk.. Enjoy the beauty of the royal house and talk”
I glanced slightly at Lilith.. She pretended to be looking elsewhere but it was already too late, I caught her staring.
I moved past Princess Rivera and she followed behind.
We walked a few distance and there weren't any words from her, then I stopped walking.
“Thus feels like a good spot to talk, don't you agree?... I love the full view of the Royal house from here”
“Straight to the point, Princess Rivera”
She smiled while I kept a straight face.
“I have been here for days Alpha Damian and you haven't come to see me”
“I have no business with you” I responded, dryly.
“Right… We used to be friends, until things turned sour. We suddenly didn't have common interests and our dislikes grew. I will be honest with you.. I don't like you to the extent of becoming your queen, that's not what I want”
I raised a brow, certainly not surprised.
“Anyone would kill to be my queen”
“Not I.. Princess Rivera. I have great taste and I'm so sorry, but you're not my type”
I was forced to chuckle but I held back myself.
“If I'm not your type, why are you here? Why did you agree to the engagement?”
She laughed.. a short laugh.
“I never agreed to the engagement. Your mother and my father made this arrangement. And being here, I was forced…”
She paused and took a step closer.
“You know, I'm going to be honest with you… I have a mate and I'm so in love with him. We've been meeting secretly because my Dad would have my head if he finds out. He's my Dad's major general. You know how this things works, I'm a princess, I have to get married to an Alpha King”
“What are you trying to say, Princess Rivera?”
“We can't get engaged. I have a mate and you have a mate. I love mine and you want yours… why don't we call this off and explain to our parents what we both want?”
“You know I have a mate?”
“Of course, I know she's that maid over there..” She gestured at Lilith. “I had my doubts the day I slapped her… the way you reacted, it's so much for someone who's an Alpha. Plus, I kinda overhead you two earlier today. You won't let her go”
I didn't say a word. I'm actually surprised at how easy things are becoming. I thought Rivera is the major problem.
Now I realize we are both the same.
“I can imagine how our mates would feel if we get engaged. Why don't we stand by what we want Alpha Damian regardless of what everyone thinks. Get your mate and I get mine and we will both be happy”
“For the first time, I agree with you Princess Rivera. If we both get engaged, it's going to be a disaster…”
She nodded, giving me a thumbs up.
“I'm really sorry for how I acted towards your mate. I didn't mean to hit her. I just wanted your mother to think that I'm not fit to become a queen. But that obviously was a failed attempt”
I smiled.
“You will return to the Shadowmoon pack at dawn. I'd accompany and speak to your father. I'm sure he would listen to me and let you be with your mate”
“I'd appreciate that. If you want, I can speak to the queen about yours” She suggested.
“No.. I'll handle that when I return”
I feel more at ease now that we have both come to a reasonable conclusion.
I let my mind wander to Lilith's mind and listened to her thoughts.
And what I heard was enough to make me burst into a fit of laughter but I had to hold myself back.
She's so wild with her thoughts, yet standing so innocently.
