Chapter 5
I’d known about Owen Pierce’s affair for a long time.
After weathering so many storms together, it’s an eternal truth that people’s hearts change.
Divorce was secondary–the property division was what really mattered.
The divorce papers he hadn’t even bothered to look at all demanded he walk away with nothing.
As the company’s second–largest shareholder who’d fought alongside him to get where we were, my contributions were no less than his.
And everything I’d earned was naturally going to my son.
Same with his share.
That’s why I reacted so strongly to Ivy Wells‘ pregnancy.
Even illegitimate children have inheritance rights.
Some mistress’s kid thinking it could compete with my son?
If Owen thought I’d just let him walk all over me because I stepped back for our son’s sake, he was being naive.
Out of consideration for our son, I’d given him dignity.
But if he thought he could just throw some money at me and be done with it, then I wouldn’t hold back either.
“Call Mr. Gross and Mr. White. Tell them I’d like to meet for coffee.”
I gave the order casually.
Mason let me hold his hand as we walked.
“Is Daddy not wanting us anymore?”
He was just a child after all–seeing his father leave with someone else still hurt.
I crouched down to wipe his tears.
“We’re the ones who don’t want him anymore.”
“Mason, everything that belongs to you, Mommy won’t let anyone else have. No one.”
I didn’t sign the divorce papers, and Owen didn’t seem to care. Maybe he thought I had no choice but to accept my fate.
He was busy planning his wedding with Ivy.
I heard Ivy was the one pushing for it–she wanted to feel secure.
Ivy somehow got hold of my phone number and called to gloat.
“The position of Mrs. Pierce that you’re so proud of will be mine soon. I suggest you sign those papers quickly. Fighting a losing battle is pointless.”
She even sent me photos of the wedding preparations.
It was night and day compared to when Owen and I got married–we didn’t even have a proper wedding or decent rings.

Our wedding banquet was just a bowl of noodles.

While marveling at how Owen had lost his mind over his little mistress, I sent out some messages.
I didn’t like seeing people get too cocky, so I crashed Owen Pierce and Ivy Wells‘ wedding.
“You really can’t let go.”
Owen slipped the ring onto Ivy’s finger.
“You bear full responsibility for us getting to the point of divorce.”
He blamed the affair on me.
Like a madwoman, I slapped him, and before he could react, I slapped Ivy too.
“Get this lunatic out of…”
Owen’s voice cut off abruptly.
I was crying.
Ever since I was almost assaulted all those years ago, no matter what I faced, I’d never cried again.
“Owen Pierce, I’m the one who fought alongside you for decades. I’m the one who suffered through all the hardships with you. How, how can you treat me like this?”
“You’re abandoning me for this mistress, and you don’t even want your son anymore?”
Owen’s face seemed to soften.
But Ivy pulled him back.
She laughed brazenly.
“When you’re old and worn out, you need to step aside.”
“Between me and you, Owen will always choose me.”
“He owes me this.”
She was triumphant, kissing Owen right in front of me,
The two of them kissed passionately.
“Mr. Pierce, are you marrying your mistress right now?”
“Mr. Pierce, do you know you’re breaking the law?”
“Mr. Pierce, what made you cheat and abandon the wife who stood by you for years?”
“Mr. Pierce…”
A crowd of reporters with equipment frantically photographed the couple locked in their passionate kiss.
Question after question left Owen dizzy.
All I had to do was cry, and have my son call out “Daddy” a few times–that was enough.
