Chapter 6
The reporters came and left just as quickly.
When Owen’s bodyguards tried to confiscate the reporters‘ equipment, my people blocked them.
All the reporters left safely.
I stopped crying too.
The scene was a complete mess, and Ivy was furious enough to lose her mind.
Owen’s expression was unreadable.
“What do you want?”
“I don’t like seeing you two all happy, so I came to ruin your day.”
I kicked a chair on the floor.
Ivy couldn’t stand seeing me act so arrogant–she wanted to see me crying and broken.
“Owen hasn’t wanted to touch you for years, you know that?”
Owen and I did have very little intimacy as husband and wife.
After all, we were both busy.
Ivy continued, “Owen’s leg got messed up because of you. You must feel pretty proud of that, huh?”
I looked at Owen Pierce’s left leg.
He’d lost the use of that leg when someone took revenge on him for protecting me.
If he walked slowly, you couldn’t tell, but the moment he picked up pace, it was obvious something was wrong.
Because of that leg, I felt incredibly guilty toward him.
So when he wanted me to focus on family life, I gave up the power I held and devoted myself entirely to taking care of our child and him.
“But Owen really regrets it.”
Ivy stared into my eyes, speaking slowly and deliberately, “He told me he regrets going in to save you that day.”
“The way you looked all groped and naked was really disgusting.”
Ten years ago, my boss had lured me into his office under the pretense of work.
The moment the door closed, he pounced on me and started tearing at my clothes. My desperate struggle just turned him on more.
When my clothes were completely torn off, Owen burst through the door.
The situation was chaotic. I took the chance to call the police, and Owen kicked the guy in the balls, completely destroying him.
The man was arrested for attempted rape, and Owen was cleared on grounds of justified defense.
But getting revenge on someone was all too easy,
Owen’s leg was broken in retaliation.

To avoid being bullied anymore, he and I clawed our way to the top, which is how we achieved what we have today.
Ivy’s words were essentially negating all our past bonds.
“Owen, what did you tell me again? Oh right–‘Who knows if that man didn’t do more than just grope her.“”
She shook Owen’s hand coquettishly.
Owen didn’t deny it.
He looked at me deeply and said, “When I went to save you, you had nothing on, and he was pressed up against you completely naked.”
“When I questioned him, he said you tasted really good too.”
So our rift had started the moment he came to rescue me.
He regretted losing the use of his leg to save an unclean woman.
I’d become his shame.
I straightened my back, not wanting anyone to see my vulnerability.
“I was going to leave you with some dignity.”
Owen Pierce closed his eyes.
“But you shouldn’t have disrupted my wedding with Ivy.”
He spoke cruelly, “Every time you said you were going to talk business with men, you were really sleeping with them, weren’t you? Otherwise, why could you close deals I couldn’t? It was all pillow talk, wasn’t it?”
“Nora Blake, you’re disgusting.”
I staggered back a few steps.
My already wounded heart was stabbed again.
“Owen Pierce, do you have any conscience saying that!”
When we were starting our business, he was too proud and often wouldn’t swallow his pride.
I was the one who drank glass after glass at business dinners to secure those deals, creating his current status.
Burning bridges and turning his back on people–he’d learned that really well.
I straightened up again.
Ivy was smiling strangely, like she had some big secret she couldn’t wait to spill.
“Nora Blake, do you know who I am?”
Owen suddenly snapped at her, “Shut up!”
But she ignored him completely.
“My last name is Wells.”
