Chapter 169 - Wanted by the Alpha Brothers
We were stopped in the middle of the highway with three vampires on the road blocking our path and we saw more figures emerging from the woods surrounding us.
I squeezed Noah's hand really tight and I saw Ivy and Asher in the front seat and besides looking at each other, they barely flinched.
"Stay in the car." Asher told us. And we weren't planning on going anywhere. Asher and Ivy both got out of the car casually and looked at the men in front of them and the ones around us. They didn't seem fazed by these vampires at all. I couldn't believe it. How could they just be standing there so calm.
The vampires started closing in and then there was a thunderous growl from all around us, in synchronicity and wolves started emerging from the woods behind the vampires. Suddenly I heard tearing and bones breaking and Asher and Ivy both shifted into their wolves.
They looked at each other in that form and because they were on different sides of the car, they nodded to each other and then ran to their sides of the forest with their warriors. But I soon realized that there were more warriors than there were last night.
There were more people fighting. I didn't understand that. And those vampires were getting torn apart. They didn't stand a chance. No matter how fast or strong they were. The werewolves could match them move for move. It was incredible.
I was pressed right up to the window watching the whole fight unfolding and Noah tried to pull me back but I needed to watch what was happening. This was all happening because of me. But I was knocked backwards when someone hit the side of the car and smashed the window that I was looking out. Noah pulled me back towards his seat and I was practically sitting on his lap after that.
"Don't watch this Regan. You're not ready." Noah said, trying to shield my eyes.
When we finally heard the fighting come to an end I looked out and all I saw were werewolves. They were starting to shift back into their human forms and the back of the car lifted up.
The door then opened and Asher was standing there wearing a pair of shorts.
"Are you two alright?" Asher asked.
"Yeah. How did you guys handle so many men?" Noah asked.
"We had help." Asher said moving away and we saw Noah's brother standing there wearing a pair of shorts as well.
"Our Alpha knew that Alpha Asher and Luna Ivy were in town. He sent us to protect them. Make sure that nothing happens to them. We didn't know that we'd be coming up against a bunch of vampires though." James says behind Asher.
"We're going to spend the night in your pack. The Alpha has extended an invitation. And we'll hit the road tomorrow morning." Asher told us.
Once we arrived at the packhouse of Noah's pack, I never realized how big it was. I've been to Noah's house but he lived in a little community outside of town. I never imagined that it was a werewolf pack. And the packhouse was huge.
We got out of the car and we were greeted by Alpha Jacob and Luna Grace. They greeted us very warmly and when we went inside James and Noah's parents were both there as well.
"So, we hear you've had an interesting afternoon." Alpha Jacob says as we all took a seat in the living room.
"I guess you could say that. Unless you're used to being attacked by vampires." Asher says.
"No. There hasn't been a vampire around these parts in decades. We don't know why they're here now." Luna Grace says.
"Unfortunately, they are after Noah's mate Regan. Her father is a vampire. And not a typical one. A pretty bad one as far as vampires go." Ivy explained.
"Oh lord. And do you have a plan?" Alpha Jacob asked.
"We're taking Regan back to Louisiana." Asher says.
"And I'm going with her." Noah says.
"We know. That's why we've already packed a bag for you. Noah, this is extremely dangerous." Noah's father says.
"I know. But I'm not leaving Regan. I can't do that." Noah says.
"I know. Which is why we're not opposing it. Not since we found out that you are her mate." Noah's mother says.
"Thank you." Noah says.
"And I would like to thank you for your hospitality tonight." Ivy says.
"Don't mention it. We would never turn away Alpha Asher and Luna Ivy." Luna Grace says.
After dinner we were shown around the packhouse and shown to the rooms that we were staying at. And I was surprised that we were staying in the packhouse as well. They gave Noah and me a room to ourselves instead of staying at Noah's parents house. Because they weren't related to the Alpha at all. I guess it was because we were with Asher and Ivy. That's why we were being given special privileges. Because we were with werewolf royalty.
As soon as we were alone I looked out the window and I could see the whole pack village from there with the forest surrounding it.
"I can't believe how beautiful this place is. I never really noticed it before." I say.
"That's because you can't see the beauty from my parents' crappy little cabin way down in the village." Noah says lying on the bed. So I turned to look at him.
"Where does your family rank in the pack order?" I asked.
"We're just working class. This is the first time I've been to the packhouse myself. Inside it anyway. They've had functions here, but they're always held outside." Noah says.
"Are you serious? I can't believe that. So, this is all really weird for you too." I say.
"Yeah. It kind of is." He says. And I sat down on the bed next to him.
"The last two days don't feel real to me at all." I say. And Noah sat up and tucked my hair behind my ears.
"Believe me, they're real. Your mother should have told you who you were right from the start." He says.
"I know. But are you surprised that she didn't?" I asked. And he chuckles.
"No. Of course not." He says.
"What do you think is going to happen to us now?" I asked.
"Well, I think Alpha Asher and Luna Ivy have every intention of taking us back to their pack and letting us join them. I will trust them with my life." Noah says, leaning forward and kissing my neck.
"Are you trying to distract me?" I asked.
"Absolutely." He murmured out.
"Well, it's definitely working." I said turning my head and I kissed him right on the lips.
