Both men jumped a bit as they saw Mrs Richard staring at them with narrowed eyes. If she could take them out, trust him she would.
" So, what do you want him to do? Make your suggestions. Maybe we can learn so much from you who do not have any penny to your name. Your marriage is a sham and you're grasping onto it with both hands because you can feel it slipping away from you. Tell me what you wanted to say."
Mark groaned angrily, there she went again with making fun of his net worth, " I'm sure that I'm better than the guys your daughter met, that was why she married me, so let her be and allow us to enjoy our lives."
Mrs. Richard raised a mocking brow, as she clapped her hands slowly, " Wow, i never knew that you were such a dreamer. When will you wake up to reality? Incase you do not know, my daughter told me how you pestered her, sent people to help you woo her until she finally decided to marry which I blame eh for any way."
" It's enough, Stacey, you've gone on and on about his broke status as if you have never been broke. When I met you, what did you have? You were also a waitress. If the couple wants to divorce based on their personal issues, let them be and stop being the pest that you accused him of being to our daughter." Mr. Richard snapped, he had enough of her molestation and intimidation of the poor young man.
Mrs. Richard stared at him in wonder. Her husband had never spoken to her in such a manner and she pointed at Mark.
" You've fed my husband with various lies and now you can hear the way he's talking to me." She grinned evilly which bore a promise of retaliation.
At this point, Mark didn't bother to think about her threats, he had Mr. Richard on his side and most importantly, he had become very confident so whatever she
said it was none of his business.
" Mrs. Richard, I beg that you don't allow us to go back and forth arguing about the same thing all the time. I know that you think I am the worst person on earth for being poor but I assure you that very soon, I will be rich and turn things around. It's just for a short period." He promised.
She smiled at him obviously thinking that he was lying or trying to make himself look good in front of her
" You've been singing this same song for how many hours now? You know it. So forgive me if I don't believe you too much, I don't think that's too much to ask is it?" She inquired while staring at them wondering why they hadn't said anything.
Mark refused to speak, " I think I'll just go to my room and allow you to talk."
" No, you don't get to talk smack behind my back and now claim to be righteous and holy like who does that? I certainly hope not you because I can be angry when I want to be." She stopped him.
Mark maintained his composure. This woman was about to make him lose it but for the respect she had for the older man who was unfortunately facing more than he could ever imagine, he shut up and quietly walked away.
" One thing was evident, she was never going to change and it would be a miracle to expect her to do that.
He walked up to his room and he heard another beep on his phone without further Ado, he replied Amelia's text.
" Hey, I'm sorry to bother you tonight but I read somewhere that seeing other pictures can help in making sure that creatives get ideas. It's lovely and I think you'd love it." She said,
" Can I call you?"
" Yes, sure." Before he finished typing his phone buzzed and he picked up instantly. " Hi, what do you think of those pieces? I think they are very lovely. Who thought that the artist was going to come up with such an idea?" She rattled off excitedly.
He would have preferred to lecture her on manners. It was one thing for someone to admit you to text him but calling a married man at night was not in any way polite. But he passed it off as she being excited.
" I know right?" He replied as he took a turn to the alcove and left the conversation hanging.
" I don't know what I was looking for when I stumbled upon it. It's the most beautiful thing ever. I'm sorry for calling this late, I just wanted to show you. I can't wait till tomorrow." She said and Mark hummed.
" It's fine, it's not like I was doing anything." He said.
Amelia rolled her hair in her hands, this was the opportunity she was looking for. Why wasn't he in a hurry to tell her to hang up? Maybe he liked her company the way she liked his too, " okay, then, I guess I better let you sleep. I hope your wife is not angry at you answering a call this late. I could apologize to her." She tactfully inquired.
His next answer would tell her what she needed to hear.
" No, she won't. We are not together here."
And that was what she had been looking for! " Alright, sir. I'll be at the shop tomorrow. I hope you would have gotten inspiration from this. I hope you are good with this." She asked.
" Yeah, it's fine. We'll meet at five p.m."
The door swung open revealing Lacey who was staring at him as though he did something wrong.
" Are you okay?" Mark inquired immediately.
" Yeah, I'm good, I'm just wondering why you would be taking calls this late? I'm sure it's business related huh?" She spoke sarcastically.
Mark raised a brow at her in surprise, was that jealousy he heard in her voice. Lord, this must be the day!
" Oh, don't you think it is?"
