Lacey shrugged nonchalantly, it was none of her business whatever Mark decided to do with his life. She only thought that it was impolite for him to be receiving calls at night, it was nothing personal, but she wouldn't say a word lest he began to feel important.
" I don't care whatever you do in your spare time, I just feel that if a woman cannot respect your time then I think you should have a rethink about the kind of people you let into your life, it's nothing personal."
" Hmm, I can see that." He responded and Lacey's eyes flew toward him.
Her gaze narrowed at him as she wore her perfect bitch reaction," What's that supposed to mean?"
" I mean, that I understand. Is there supposed to be a secret meaning to it?" He pretended to be oblivious to what she meant.
" You and I know that it's not true but you are trying to pretend like it is. It wouldn't cost you anything to admit that you are a bit upset that I am answering calls at night from a woman. It's just a business related call."
" That involves you telling everyone who cares to know that we don't sleep in the same room. How do you even do it?" She waved her hands in the air as she tried to comprehend his attitude. wasn't he seeing the point she was trying to make?
He sighed tiredly, with her nagging, he was soon going to get a migraine and the only way he could avoid that was by apologizing, " I don't know what you want me to say Lacey. I'm sorry for answering calls and washing our dirty linens in public, it won't repeat itself."
Lacey stared at him, she didn't think his apology was genuine. What happened to the man she married?
'You mean the man you called spineless and mocked for loving you more than himself? C'mon!' her subconscious replied to her.
" I don't have time for this. You can go on and frolic with all the girls you want, just don't bring that nonsense under my roof, if not I will not hesitate to throw you out." She raised a hand, " And I mean it this time. It's my word against yours and guess who will win for infidelity? Moi!" She swiveled into her room and shut the door yet with another loud bang.
" Wow." Mark breathed as he walked into his room. He couldn't remind her that they agreed to stay in the same room for he knew that she was going to chew and spit him out without remorse.
I guess I'll be sleeping alone again!
It was getting frustrating because he had been feeling a tightening in his crotch with no one to alleviate his pain.
He was determined to remain faithful to her even in her anger. He was just biding his time patiently as she made noise.
He rested his head on the headboard, she knew what she was doing, and he wondered how she was coping sexually.
He met her as a virgin so he wasn't worried about her philandering. He also knew that she detested Alistair with all her might and that gave him an assurance that everything is good.
When there was no problem, she was very receptive to him and sometimes initiated sex but now she was as cold as the Arctic region, unwilling to even pursue any form of intimacy with him.
" I don't know what to do." He muttered and scrolled through his phone. Now he was wide awake but it was for a completely different reason but for the same source.
This lady had casted a spell on him and that was the only thing that he could say because he didn't know how other women managed to pale in comparison to her. It was either Lacey or no one else.
He picked up his phone and texted the therapist.
" Good morning, ma'am. I hope this is not too late, but I need a favor from you." He typed and dropped his phone, leaning sideways to switch off the lamp and snuggling under the sheets in the cold weather.
Surprisingly, his phone beeped and he rose, " May I ask what it is Mr. Mark?"
" I need you to please encourage my wife and I to sleep in the same room throughout the process of this ordeal."
" I'll assess the situation to know if it warrants that."
" Good then, it warrants it, she doesn't want me around her at all and it's beginning to affect me." He typed back. He didn't mind of his made jest of him or anything as long as he got what he was looking for that was the most important thing.
" I'll see what I can do about that. Your session's tomorrow, I hope you are aware of that, sir." She said.
" Yeah, thanks for your reception, I'll not forget this act of kindness." He replied and finally went to sleep happily.
Meanwhile, Lacey was fuming angrily when she remembered that he was talking to someone. She clapped her hands in amazement, so someone out there was tripping for Mark? Mark who couldn't pay his bills? She wondered.
if her mother had told her she would never have believed her. He was cheating on her?
Her inner mind was thinking of what you do with this information she got. So he was talking to a lady at night? That was not even what annoyed her. It was the fact that he seemed fit to spread the good news that they weren't together. The lady on the other end of the phone would have figured out what was going on.
Must Mark make her a laughing stock before deciding to let her go to leave her life? She wondered.
For this reason her heart became more rigid. Let's see how you want to win me back. She said turned on her phone, played music on the boom player and drifted to sleep.
Tomorrow will take care of itself.
