Chapter 70 Rage

Chapter 70 Rage
\[Lilia\]

Flavio snapped angrily, wiped my spit off of his face, and then waved his hand in the air as if he were ordering everyone else to leave the basement. Additionally, he was the one who moved towards the door without looking back to see if his men followed him behind.

My cheek was throbbing with a numbing pain and aching like hell, and I could feel the corner of my lips busted from the blow. Yet, I ignored it and focused on what was happening.

I have no idea what he just commanded, but the giant man that was holding my arms began to drag me out and I turn my attention to Aya, wondering why no one was sparing her a glance. She had her eyes pinned on me. Her chinky gaze widened and a look of absolute horror appeared in her eyes realizing that she'll be left here alone.

Suddenly the pain on my cheek faded, and dread began consuming me as registered to my mind that we are about to get separated.

“What about Aya?” I yelled out in a panic while simultaneously pinning my feet to the ground in an attempt to resist the giant guy. Despite the fact that my strength was no match for his, I still did my best to put up a fight, and I refused to let them take me away without Aya.

Flavio halted on his steps right before the door and looked at me over his shoulder. He only looked at Aya not longer than a second before his eyes were back on me and he snided. “She’ll stay.”

“What? No!” I exclaimed out in protest, wriggling viciously out from the iron grip, but still no use. My tears streamed down in mixed frustration and fear, looking at Aya helplessly. Her eyes started to water and I know she was holding her tears back, but I could see her lips trembling.

I heard Flavio groan in annoyance and his steps pounded heavily on the floor as he walks back toward me. His brows furrowed and panned his gaze toward Aya, and then flashes her a sly smirk.

“Yes. Now, do what I say and your friend will stay alive,” he said and returned his attention to me.

I swallowed my sob, my shoulders shaking with rage, but I couldn't do anything to help my friend. This devil holds us by the neck, and if I refused once again, Aya's life might be in jeopardy.

If Kael is indeed here, most likely, Val too. I'll do my best to get help from him. I am sure he will not hesitate to bring Aya to safety. I somehow trusted that brute more than how I perceived what trust could be.

“Aya, I’ll come back,” I breathe out, calming my raging nerves.

My chest twisted at the sight of a single tear rolling down on her cheek as her head shakes, her eyes pleading, telling me not to leave her behind.

“I promised,” I croaked, tasting the salty tang of my tears. My shoulders shook and my chest heaved as I keep holding my sob.

“Stop wailing, start walking!” Flavio hollered again, pushing me to move my feet and the huge man whose name I still do not know lifted me off the floor. An ear-piercing shriek ripped through my throat in surprise as he hauls me over and slung me over his shoulder.

The air in my lungs knocked over as my stomach pressed roughly on the blades of his shoulders, my vision turned upside down and my blood rushes to my head.

“Why do you have to be so cruel?” I scream once again, my throat hoarse, kicking aimlessly as I arched my back, trying to lift my head and look over Aya as the door finally slammed close.

A rapid series of gunfire erupted above the floor that we were in. Flavio let out a string of expletives in his native tongue while entirely ignoring me as he lifted his head as another explosion erupted that shook the entire basement hallway.

I couldn't see much from this vantage point of view as mostly my eyes could catch the running boots pounding on the floor, while I sway vigorously on the huge man's shoulder. I just hope that the skirt I wore wasn't that short, or else my butt would be showing for everyone to see, although that was the least of my concern as of now, I couldn't help but think of it and worry.

I feel like I'm going to throw up, my gut heaved from motion sickness while I keep pounding my fist on his back, screaming, and hoping that Kael could somehow hear me.

“Let me go!” I screamed once again, kicking my legs and twisting my body, heedless about the fact that if he'll let go of his hold on my back, I would slip off from him and injure myself, but I am willing to take that risk than let them carry me like a sack of potato.

My knees hit his chest and I know that my kneecap struck hard enough on his pectoral portion, yet he ignored my assaults and followed Flavio as they weaved through the labyrinth of corridors.

I even lost track of how many turns we have already gone because there have been so many. The gunshots becoming louder and louder, seemingly that the hellfire is getting near.

“Help! Kael!” I scream again, but this time I screamed at the very top of my lungs even though I was short with my breath from all the rigid jolting motion.

I have no idea what came over me and why I suddenly shouted his name, but I am desperate to free myself in this situation and they are the only hope that I have to save Aya too. As much as I hate him, there are no other people that could get us out of here.

If this were in different circumstances and Flavio happens to be a good guy, I would definitely beg him not to tell Kael where I am and I'm never ever going back to that luxurious prison.

“Presto! Presto!”

(Quick! Quick!)

Flavio snarled ahead to his man, and I noticed that we are now taking up a narrow, spiraling staircase, ascending to wherever the hell the area they are going to take Kael.

I couldn't focus my gaze on the stairs, my vision sways excessively and it feels like my brain would fall out anytime through my nose.

The gunshots were getting louder and closer than I could even hear the barks of orders from the other side, noticing a specific voice among the rest.

“They are taking the stairs to the rooftop!” Kael bellowed, followed by another eruption of bullets whizzing across the walls.

He's here. He's definitely here.

“Kael!” I called his name once again, arching my back to the point where I thought my spine would break. Fortunately, my voice ricocheted into the hallway and transcended over the bullets hitting the wall and spraying concrete debris.

“Lilia!”

Right at the last step on the stairs, I caught a glimpse of Kael's face, but it soon faded as the giant man carrying me instantly dropped me on the rough surface. My body rolled over the floor, my breath cut short as my back bore the brunt of the contact, and my arms bent to an awkward angle, eliciting a sharp cry from me as the pain erupted on my shoulders and elbows.

I haven't even got the chance to recover from the pain, when a large hand clamped over my head, yanking my hair forcibly, feeling like my scalp would get ripped off from my skull.

“Stand up, you little puttana!” Flavio roared loudly into my ears, compelling me to stand even though my legs could barely hold my weight. I was wailing in pain as he drags me from the floor with my hair while I was trying to keep my footing and twisting my ankle. My throat became coarse as my voice faltered. I could feel a warm, thick liquid trickling down my nose, and from the scent of it, I immediately know it was blood.

I frantically veered my blurred gaze around the place. We were on the rooftop and it was still dark outside, aside from the fluorescent lights installed at the corner. My attention snaps towards the door in front of the stairs where I was dropped when it suddenly burst open.

A familiar face emerged from the clouds of dust and smoke. And for a moment, I thought it wasn’t him, thinking that a demon had actually possessed him with his expression twisting up in a menacing, blood-hungry snarl ready to devour his victim.

“Kael…” In my anguish, I muttered his name out loud.

His gloomy, mossy eyes darted across to mine almost instantly, flashing with an intensity of rage that I have never saw in him before.

“Get your fucking hands off her!”
