Chapter fourteen: You're just a mistress

“I can’t accept your challenge because it’s clearly obvious you are just trying to make me angry.” Catherine said while Sophie stared at her with a smirk.

“Are you that scared I might take what you worked so hard for?”sophie asked why she patiently waited for Tyler to make a move to seal the trap she had set for both of them.

“I am not scared of you, I am just trying to keep my respect.” Catherine said suddenly feeling big about herself while she prayed Tyler would continue to pretend he couldn’t hear any of their agreements.

“Okay, since you aren’t interested in my net I would just…..” Sophie was about to end the conversation when Tyler cleared his throat louder making both lady’s to look back at him.

“Why would you want to end the bet Freya?” Tyler asked.

“Because,Catherine isn’t confident enough.” Sophie replied even more happily that Tyler might give her a go ahead.

“That’s one more reason for you two to go ahead with the plan,I want to see how fun it would be..” Tyler began but got stopped by Catherine.

“Alpha, why would you accept this if I am already your Luna..” Catherine began.

“You are not….I repeat you are not my mate, you are just my mistress.” Tyler corrected her, making Sophie chuckle out loud.

. Sophie continued to pressure Catherine to accept the challenge, taunting her about her lack of confidence and how it was a sure sign of weakness. Catherine, feeling a surge of anger, finally agreed to the bet.

“Fine, I accept the challenge.” Catherine said through gritted teeth.

“Good, this is going to be fun.” Sophie said with a grin.

“Alpha, are you sure about this?” Catherine asked, looking up at Tyler.

“Absolutely. I want to see who is really worthy of my heart.” Tyler said, sealing the bet with a nod of his head.

Catherine felt a sense of nervousness but also excitement. She had spent so long trying to gain Tyler’s attention and affection, and now she had a chance to prove herself. She was determined to win the bet and show Tyler that she was the one for him.

And at the same time she wanted to make an agreement that Sophie won’t have the upper hand because Tyler finds Sophie attractive.

“And one more thing alpha.”Catherine began.

“What’s that?” Tyler asked.

“Don’t favor Freya too much by making her always by your side.” Catherine said while Tyler just stared at her in confusion.

“And why would I have to change that? For One thing we both know it, you have more advantage of winning than Freya because you were here right from when Sophie was my mate.” Tyler said to Catherine who had a much bitter stare because this clearly meant Sophie was feee to do whatever she wanted in the palace and with Tyler without being questioned.

“What’s taking you so long to say yes Catherine?” Tyler continued bringing Catherine back to reality.

“Yes I agree to the bet.”Catherine said, making Tyler chuckle as he stood up and left the dining table.

Catherine sat still, clenching tightly to her spoon as she grunted her teeth together in anger, meanwhile Sophie who thought that was all was about to stand up when Catherine stopped her.

“Sit back down.” Catherine murmured with her hoarse clearly meaning she was very angry.

“What do you want from me now?” Sophie asked taking her seat back in a more relax mode like Catherine voice wasn’t threatening to her at all.

“You bitch, you knew Tyler would listen to you that’s why you brought up a bet idea in his presence.” Catherine began staring directly into Sophie’s eyes.

“I wasn’t at all confident in Tyler, I was just trying to make you know your place since you seem to be confusing your rightful place.” Sophie said about to leave but Catherine who always never seemed to be tired of getting into trouble pulled Sophie back to her seat forcefully as Sophie stared back at her in shock.

“You can’t leave until I tell you so and you also can never try to label me weak just because I give you the chance to be a rebel.” Catherine warned but Sophie who was proving stubborn stood up anyways.

Catherine's anger flared up as Sophie continued to mock her. She locked eyes with Sophie, her voice trembling with rage.

"I warned you, Freya . Cancel the bet. This is your last chance," Catherine said, her voice filled with determination.

Sophie laughed dismissively, her smirk growing even wider. "Oh, Catherine, you're so predictable. Always trying to assert yourself when deep down, you know you're no match for me. You can't handle the truth, can you?"

Catherine's fists clenched, her nails digging into her palms. She took a deep breath, trying to regain her composure. "You underestimate me,Freya. I may have been silent for too long, but I won't let you belittle me anymore. I will prove to Tyler, to you, and to myself that I am worthy of his love."

Sophie scoffed, rolling her eyes. "Worthy? Please, Catherine. You're just a pawn in this game. Tyler will always be drawn to me, no matter how hard you try."

Catherine's eyes flashed with determination. "We'll see about that. I won't let you manipulate Tyler any longer. I will show him my strength, my loyalty, and my love. And when I win this bet, you will have no choice but to accept your defeat."

Sophie's laughter echoed through the room. "Oh, Catherine, you're so naive. You think you can outsmart me? You're just a weak little girl playing at being a queen. Tyler will see through your facade soon enough."

Catherine's anger burned hotter with each word. She leaned closer to Sophie, her voice dripping with venom. "You underestimate me, Freya. But mark my words, I will make you regret ever crossing me. The bet may be the start of our rivalry, but it won't be the end."
