Chapter thirteen: I challenge you Freya

Sophie returned to her room, feeling a mix of disappointment and anger. She couldn't believe that Tyler had referred to her as a mere slave, despite her intentions of giving him a positive answer. His words cut deep, making her question her own worth and place in the palace.

As she sat on her bed, her mind replayed the events of the day. The rejection from Catherine, the confrontation with Tyler, and now the realization that her hopes of a future with him had been shattered.

Sophie couldn't understand why Tyler would say such hurtful things. She had thought that their connection was genuine, that he saw her for who she truly was. But now, it seemed like all of that had been nothing more than an illusion.

Feeling a surge of determination, Sophie decided that she wouldn't let Tyler's words define her. She wouldn't allow herself to be treated as a mere slave or be belittled by anyone. She had her own strength and worth, and she would prove it to herself and to others.

And mostly now she knew what exactly she wanted and that was revenge towards Tyler and initially the only thing stopping her was Tyler new found kindness towards her but now it was now very clear that he was only being kind to her just to get hers to accept what he wants and maybe again suffer from accepting to be his mate.

“You betrayal, even after killing me you still want me to be a servant in your bed in my second life but too bad now I am nothing like that.” Sophie said to herself while memories of how he ordered for her to be killed came rushing back into her mind.

As Sophie continued to reflect on her past life, memories of Tyler's manipulation flooded her mind. She remembered how he had always twisted her words and emotions to suit his own desires. He had played with her heart, making her believe that he cared for her, only to discard her like a used toy when he no longer needed her.

Tears streamed down Sophie's face as she recalled the countless times she had fallen for his lies. She had been so naive, so blinded by her love for him that she had allowed him to control her every move. But not anymore.

In her second life, Sophie vowed to never let herself be manipulated by Tyler or anyone else again. She would stand up for herself, reclaim her power, and seek revenge for all the pain he had caused her.

The next morning eased the first day of her revenge and she was more than confident she would get her revenge and that was going to start from Catherine, during breakfast Sophie made sure to take her time to look more than marvelous as she took her seat beside Tyler just as he had commanded before, and didn’t even bother to issue any greetings to Tyler and she immediately started having her breakfast.

As Sophie confidently took her seat beside Tyler at breakfast, Catherine couldn't help but notice her lack of greetings. Frowning, Catherine leaned closer to Sophie and questioned her in a hushed voice.

"Why didn't you greet anyone at the table, Sophie?" she asked, her tone laced with annoyance.

Sophie glanced at Catherine, a small smile playing on her lips. "Oh, I'm sorry. I must have forgotten. I was just too engrossed in enjoying my breakfast," she replied nonchalantly.

Catherine's eyes narrowed, sensing a shift in Sophie's demeanor. She had expected Sophie to act submissive and fearful, but instead, she was met with confidence and indifference. It unsettled her.

Tyler, who had been observing the exchange, remained silent. He was curious to see how Sophie would handle the situation and whether she would rise to the challenge or falter under Catherine's scrutiny.

Catherine, determined not to let Sophie get the upper hand, pressed on. "You should show some respect, Sophie. We are all here as guests in the palace, and it's customary to greet each other. Or are you too good for such pleasantries?"

Sophie's smile widened, a glint of mischief in her eyes. "Oh, I assure you, Catherine, I am well aware of the customs and traditions. But I believe actions speak louder than words. So instead of wasting time on empty greetings, I prefer to focus on showing respect through my actions."

Catherine's frustration grew, but she quickly regained her composure. She couldn't let Sophie's words and confidence undermine her own position. She needed to regain control and show Sophie that she was not to be underestimated.

With a calculated smile, Catherine leaned in closer to Sophie. "Actions, you say? Well, let's see if your actions match your words. Let's see if you have what it takes to earn the respect and trust of everyone in this palace."

Sophie met Catherine's gaze, her eyes filled with determination.

“What do I have to do?” Catherine questioned.

“Become the Luna before me.”

Sophie held Catherine's gaze, her determination unwavering. "I'm glad you're finally willing to acknowledge the importance of actions, Catherine. But I must admit, I find your reluctance to accept my challenge quite telling. Perhaps you're afraid that your actions won't be able to match up to mine."

Catherine's eyes narrowed, her expression turning defensive. "I am not afraid of anything, Sophie. I simply have more important matters to attend to than engaging in petty challenges."

Sophie chuckled softly, her voice laced with sarcasm. "Oh, I see. So what you're saying is that you're too scared to face me, too scared to prove your worth as a Luna. It's quite amusing how you claim to hold power and authority, yet you seem to crumble at the mere thought of a challenge."

Catherine's face flushed with anger, but she remained composed. "I don't need to prove myself to you, Sophie. I am already the Luna, chosen by Tyler himself. My position is secure."

Sophie leaned back in her chair, a smirk playing on her lips. "Is it? Because from where I'm sitting, it seems like you're desperately trying to hold onto something that you know deep down you don't deserve. If you truly believe in your abilities as a Luna, then why not accept my challenge? Prove to everyone, including yourself, that you're worthy of the title."
