Chapter 91 The Moore's Family Loss - Part 1
"What happened to Angela?" Bryce asked, and Zora turned to look at who had held her by the arms, only to meet the gaze of Bryce.
Zora recognised Bryce immediately despite his disguise. She was about to yell at the person who had disrespectfully grabbed her arms, but seeing it was Bryce, she calmed herself down.
"She is in the emergency room," Zora replied, her face stained with tears.
"What happened?" Bryce asked.
"I am not sure. I went to take a shower, and when I returned, I couldn't find her anywhere. I later found her lying on the ground motionless," Zora reported.
"Did she fall or something?" Bryce asked, trying to understand what happened exactly.
"I don't know," Zora said. "We were both inside. I don't even know when she left the room," she added sadly with her head lowered.
The doctor exited the emergency room, and Zora, seeing the doctor, walked towards him, freeing herself from Bryce's grip.
Bryce was processing what Zora had just said when Zora moved. He shifted his gaze in the direction Zora had moved and also followed her, seeing the doctor approach Zora. Marcus followed Bryce.
"She is fine. She just had a shock. What happened?" the doctor asked.
Zora was not sure if she should mention she found Angela next to another motionless body, but after thinking it through, she spoke.
"I am not sure what happened, but I found her lying next to another motionless body in a pool of blood," Zora said, and Bryce panicked, knowing Angela was pregnant.
"Okay, that explains...," the doctor began, but Bryce interrupted him.
"Is the baby alright?" Bryce asked, his heart racing against his chest, hoping the baby was okay.
"The baby is fine. Her clothes were stained with blood, and it didn't look like that was her blood," the doctor said, and Bryce felt relief. "She has been moved to one of the wards. She will be discharged soon," the doctor said. "Excuse me," he added after showing them where to find Angela.
"You go ahead," Zora said to Bryce, and he nodded.
The trio heads in the direction the doctor had shown them, and Bryce enters the ward. It was a ward for two, but it was just Angela in there at the moment. The room had been divided by a curtain. Bryce went to Angela's bed. Angela stared at him as he walked towards her bed.
"How are you?" Bryce asked, his voice very gentle.
"I .." Angela tried to answer, looking away as the image of Elena was stuck in her mind, preventing her from completing her statement.
Bryce sat on the edge of the bed. He felt some calmness within him upon seeing Angela again. He held Angela's hand in his, rubbing the back of her hand gently. Angela was trembling.
"Calm down," Bryce said. "What happened?" he asked, and Angela shifted her gaze to Bryce, her face stained with tears.
She stared at him for a while, and tears started streaming down her face as she couldn't tell him what had happened to Elena.
"Calm down. Whatever it is, just calm down. You know you are with a child," Bryce said to her, cupping the side of her face in his hand.
Bryce leaned forward and planted a kiss on her lips, happy to see her. Angela remained still when she saw Bryce draw closer till she felt his soft lips on her. Angela didn't move but allowed him to kiss her. She had equally missed him.
"You will be fine, okay," Bryce said after the brief kiss. "Just get some rest, okay? You will be discharged soon," he added, and Angela just nodded.
"Sir, there is something you need to see," Marcus, who was with Bryce all this while informed him after checking his phone.
"Let it wait," Bryce said.
"Sir, it's very important. It's about your sister, Ms Elena," Marcus said, and Angela tensed up immediately.
Bryce felt Angela's tension as he was holding her hands in his. He rubbed her hand to calm her.
"What about my sister?" Bryce asked, not ready to leave Angela's side.
"She is also here," Marcus said, unable to give the news he received to Bryce.
Bryce stood up, hearing that his sister was also in the same hospital.
"I will be back, Angela," Bryce said to Angela and planted a kiss on her forehead before leaving with Marcus.
"What happened to my sister?" Bryce asked as they exited Angela's ward.
"Sir, you should see for yourself," Marcus replied.
While Bryce was with Angela, Zora decided to wait in the hallway connecting to the waiting area to give Angela and Bryce some privacy. Zora peeped into the waiting area, and she saw an officer. She turned around and pressed her front to the wall, and with her one eye staring at the officer, she decided to eavesdrop as the reception was not far.
"A patient was brought in here alongside a dead one. Ms Angela Anderson," the officer said to the receptionist after displaying his badge.
"Yes," the receptionist.
"Where is she?" the officer asked.
"I am not sure. Give me a minute to call," the receptionist said.
The officer received a call, and he stepped aside. Zora stared at the officer and read his lips.
I have located the murderer of Ms Elena. I will bring her to the station soon.
Zora gasped after reading the officer's lips. She turned around and bumped into Marcus. Marcus steadied Zora, preventing her from falling.
"I am sorry," Zora said and quickly freed herself from Marcus, who froze for a minute staring into Zora's beautiful brown eyes.
"Please look after Angela, I will be back," Bryce said, and Zora nodded before hurrying her steps towards Angela's ward like she was running away from someone.
Bryce and Marcus walked into the reception, and Marcus led the way to the place sent to his phone.
"Why are we heading for the morgue?" Bryce asked after seeing the sign, which read morgue and Marcus just stared at him.
Bryce immediately understood what was happening. He hurried his steps in the direction, hoping it was a mistaken identity.
"Do you need anything?" A man in scrubs asked Bryce.
The man had just exited the morgue area.
"I am Bryce Moore. I want to see the body brought here," Bryce said.
"Sure, let me get someone for you," the man said and vanished using a different direction.
An officer walked into the hallway with two medical practitioners. Bryce had taken his nose mask and cup off.
"Mr Moore, good you are here. I will need you to ID your sister's body," the officer said upon getting closer to Bryce.
They entered the morgue, and lying on the table was Elena, looking very white. She had a bullet wound on her forehead.
Bryce stared at his sister lying on the table inside the cold room.
"Who did this?" Bryce asked.
"That is why we are here?" the officer said, and Bryce shifted his gaze towards the officer.
