Chapter 156 The Plan Revealed - Part 1
"Your room is nowhere on this floor. So what brings you here?" Matilda asked, making herself comfortable as she offered Mrs Anderson a seat.
It was a bedroom, but it had a mini living room area. Mrs Anderson sat down and stared at Matilda, who appeared not to be bothered by her.
"I came to see you," Mrs Anderson said bravely. "It's getting to 9 am. Angela and Zora are not in their room. I don't know where they went," she informed her.
"Oh," Matilda said and smiled. "They are two adults. You don't have to babysit them, do you now?" she asked, staring at Mrs Anderson.
"I don't need to tell you what is going on. They are not safe going out alone," Mrs Anderson pointed out.
"Who said they are alone?" Matilda said. "Don't answer that. What did you hear when you were behind my door pressing your ears to it like a lizard?" she asked.
"Nothing?" Mrs Anderson replied, looking away.
"Hmm," Matilda said. "That is not what your face is telling me," she said. "And oh look, you are trembling," she pointed, and Mrs Anderson folded her arms across her belly like she was feeling cold.
Matilda smiled and stood up. Matilda walked to her dressing table, opened it and under Mrs Anderson's gaze, she pulled out a gun. Mrs Anderson felt her blood rush to her brain.
"Whether or not I will use this is dependent on you," Matilda said with a smile plastered on her face as she returned to her seat.
At the club, the police went into what was left of the building after the fire had been put out. The chief led them as they looked around, trying to find the cause of the fire, even though it was reported that there were some bombs planted in the building.
At the hospital, Angela was just being pushed out of the emergency room to one of the wards. Bryce followed, but he was asked to wait at the door as Angela was sent inside the ward.
"Doctor, how is she? And how is the baby?" Bryce asked two questions at the same time as soon as the doctor exited the ward.
"Both the child and the mother are doing okay. I would advise you to keep her away from anything that would stress her out. Ensure she is relaxed at all times," the doctor said.
"I would," Bryce replied. "Can I see her?" he asked.
"Yes, you can," the doctor said and walked away as Bryce walked into the ward.
Bryce entered and found Angela lying on the bed with her eyes closed. There was a pulse oximeter on her finger. Bryce pulled the chair and sat on it, staring at her face. He gently held her hand in his and planted a kiss on the back of her hand.
"Bryce," Angela whispered his name sounding tired.
"Angela," Bryce called out her name, staring at her face.
"What happened?" Angela asked, but quickly recalled everything that happened before Bryce could reply. "Have you found Zora?" she asked, suddenly looking agitated.
"Hey, ssssshh, calm down, my love," Bryce said, trying to keep her calm. "Martin is looking for her. We will know where she is soon," he said.
"Call her," Angela suggested.
"I would do that," Bryce said. "The doctor said you need to get some rest. The baby is fine too," he added, and Angela had a reason to smile.
Bryce sat by Angela until she fell asleep again. He stepped out of the ward and was glad his phone was inside his pocket. He was about to call Marti,n but Martin's call came through.
"Sir, the police just left the location of the club. They were there for only 20 minutes, and in less than 5 minutes after leaving, they posted the report of their findings on social media platforms," Martin reported. "I also went into the building. Some parts of it were still intact. I checked the bomb sensor at the back of the building, which was saved from the fire, and it was no longer there. It has been removed, and it's like, it was never there," he added.
"Any news on Zora's whereabouts?" Bryce asked.
"Her phone is off, and still no sign of her. I reached out to her friend, Elorm, and according to him, the last time he spoke with her was 5 am today," Martin reported.
"Have you checked if perchance you returned to the Davis family home?" Bryce asked.
"Yes, sir. She is not there," Martin reported.
"Do everything you can to find her," Bryce said and ended the call.
Bryce went online after the call and read the news, which left him livid.
The popular club in town, owned by Mr Bryce Moore, caught fire early this morning. More than 60% of the building was lost in the fire. According to the police report, there was no casualty reported as the building was almost empty except for Mr Bryce Moore and Ms Angela Anderson who were both inside the building. However, they safely got out of the building with the help of the firefighters who arrived on time to help battle the fire. A report from the police flags a suspicion of faulty wiring resulting in the fire, or possible power overload from one of the machines being used inside the club. Whatever the cause of the fire might be, the police intend to find out.
Bryce read and frowned. He recalled what Martin had told him about the Davis family. He was not a Davis. He also remembered the report. He went into his email and checked the report Martin had sent to him. He went through, and as Martin rightly said, the evidence pointed to the fact that Angela Anderson was the one working with Eva in the murder of Patricia and Elena Moore. Bryce frowned after reading.
"What game are you playing, Matilda Davis?" Bryce asked under his breath.
He went back into the ward. At this moment, he was not sure whom to trust aside from Martin, with whom he was working. Devon and Susan have teamed up against him, and now Matilda, who appeared to be on his side, had plans of her own. He thought of calling George, who was with Matilda; how could he think that he would not be part of a scheme if there was one?
Bryce knew that going back to the Davis family would not be a good idea. He quickly checked his account and he had enough to rent a new apartment. He fetched his phone and called Martin.
"Martin, I want you to rent me an apartment in a safe location. Once Angela gets discharged, I don't want her to go back to the Davis family," Bryce said.
"Yes, sir," Martin acknowledged.
"Martin, find a way and check up on Mrs Anderson. She is still at the Davis family home," Bryce added. "Also get rid of the car and get another one," he added.
"Yes, sir," Martin acknowledged, and the call ended.
Martin drove the car to a nearby car dealer. He sold the car to the dealer at a very low price. He requested an Uber and was dropped off at another location, which was not far away from a car garage. He walked towards the garage, ensuring he was not being followed.
Martin drove out of the place with a new car and started looking for an apartment at a different location. He found one drive there and checked it out. He made the payment and informed Bryce about it. He called Mrs Anderson's phone, but it was off. He requested an Uber from Bryce's newly rented apartment to the Davis family home.
He walked through the front door easily and went straight to where he would find Mrs Anderson. The room was cleaned, and it appeared Mrs Anderson had packed her stuff and left. The bed was without a bedsheet, though.
"Have you seen Mrs Anderson today?" Martin asked a servant who entered Mrs Anderson's room carrying some bedsheets.
"Yes, I saw her carrying a small travelling bag heading in the direction of the staircase. Mrs Davis just asked me to clean her room," she replied.
Martin left the place and asked the man at the security post.
"Did you see Mrs Anderson leave this compound with her bag?" Martin asked.
"Yes, that was three hours ago," the man replied, and Martin thanked him.
Matilda was with George, and they both watched Martin looking for Mrs Anderson.
"Have someone follow him. I want to know what he is doing at all times," Matilda said to George, stood up and exited George's room after he had acknowledged.
