Chapter 155 The Explosion
Zora sat in front of the TV with a cup of tea as she stared at the screen. She heard a knock on the door, drawing her attention in that direction. A smile appeared on Zora's face; she believed it was Angela at the door. She put her cup of tea on the small round table. She stood up and slipped her legs into the slippers she had found in the bedroom. She walked towards the door in her morning coat with a broad smile plastered on her face.
"Girl, I know you had a wonderful night. Don't tell me you people didn't do the do. I will if I find myself next to an attractive man like Mr Moore." Zora happily said these words as she walked towards the door, as if the door were so thin that Angela would hear her on the other side.
She reached for the doorknob and turned it to open the door. In her mind, she was already imagining the look on Angela's face. The smile vanished from Zora's face as she came face to face with the person behind the door. Her eyes did a quick scan of the man dressed like a military man in a war zone. Only his eyes were visible to Zora.
"What do you want?" Zora asked, wondering what a Davis guard would be doing in the place where she had spent the night in the early hours of the morning.
Back in Bryce and Angela's room, they had ended up in the bathroom. They still couldn't get enough of each other. Bryce couldn't stop pleasuring Angela, and she just sat in the bath with him, enjoying every bit of it.
Bryce heard his phone ringing but chose to ignore it. He was enjoying Angela's lips, and his hand caressed her body. The ringing stopped and started again.
"Maybe you should check. It might be something important," Angela said, and Bryce rolled his eyes behind her while he trailed kisses down her neck.
"It's Martin, I already spoke with him this morning," Bryce said and continued to kiss her neck.
Angela pushed against his chest a little, putting a distance between them.
"Maybe you should...." Angela began, but the ringing started again before she could complete her statement.
"Okay," Bryce said. "I would go check it out, but you and I have unfinished business," he added, and Angela smiled.
"I am not going anywhere," Angela said, tapping the petals on the surface of the water, and Bryce smiled.
Bryce entered the bedroom and walked towards the bedside. He angrily picked up his phone, and it was Martin calling.
"You'd better have a good reason for interrupting my perfect morning," Bryce said.
"Sir, you need to get out of that building," Martin said.
"What do you mean?" Bryce asked, " Is the brow meeting at the glabella.
"Sir, the place is going to explode," Martin said. "The bomb sensor went off five minutes ago," he informed him. "I received an alert on my phone. I am just four minutes away from the club," he added.
"Shit!" Bryce said and knocked on the bathroom door, grabbing his clothes.
"Angela, come out. We need to leave now," Bryce said.
"Why?" Angela questioned from inside the bathroom, still sitting in the bathtub and running her fingers through the water.
"The place is going to blow up," Bryce said, putting on his trousers.
Angela got out of the bathtub and grabbed a robe from the stand. When she entered the bedroom, Bryce was putting on a shirt. He left the shirt unbuttoned and swept Angela into his arms, heading for the door.
"Zora," Angela said.
"We will get her on our way out. She is just down the hall," Bryce said and hurried down the hall, but found Zora's door open.
"Zora!" Bryce called out to her but realised the room was empty.
"Zora!" Angela called out to Zora once Bryce put her down, and they both entered the room.
Angela checked the bathroom, and it was empty.
"She is not here. Let's go," Bryce said and carried Angela again.
He hurried down the hall towards the back exit. When he got there, it was locked. He returned the same way to use the exit through the VIP room, but that was when the first bomb went off. Angela screamed, hearing the sound of the explosion. Bryce quickly turned his back to the direction of the sound and protectively held Angela. The sound came from the direction of the VIP room Bryce wanted to use. Smoke quickly filled the hallway, and the heat of the VIP room was burning quickly filled the hallway.
"There is only one way out now, the back door," Bryce said and headed back in that direction.
Angela was already scared, crying and screaming, but Bryce remained calm, thinking of what to do. At the door, he put Angela down.
"Stand here," he said and moved towards a door to his left.
It was a storage room. He searched the place for anything he could use to open the door while he prayed for safety, as he didn't know where the next bomb was planted and when it was going to explode. Again, he didn't know if it was one bomb or multiple bombs, and that scared him, but he needed to be strong for Angela. She was already scared, but he couldn't express his fears.
Outside, Martin arrived at the club and realised the entrance and half of the building were already in flames. It didn't take long for sirens to be heard getting closer to the location. Martin got out of the car after parking at a safe distance and hurried towards the back of the club. He realises the back door has been nailed shut with two long pieces of wood. He returned to the car and grabbed a wheel spanner. He started running towards the back, believing Angela and Bryce could be trapped in the hallway behind that door. The fire services people arrived at the scene and quickly started setting up to quench the fire. One of the firefighters spotted Martin running towards the back.
"Hey!" he screamed and went after Martin.
"There are people trapped in the building," Martin announced hearing someone scream from behind him but he didn't stop.
He quickly ran towards the back. The firefighter went to the car, grabbed a tool and headed back in the direction he had seen Martin go. Meanwhile, his other colleagues had already started pouring water on the side of the building that was on fire.
Inside, Bryce found an axe in the storage room. He picked it up and started hitting the door with it. Angela stood on the side crying.
"I would get us out," Bryce said and continued hitting the door with the axe.
Outside, the firefighter used his tool to remove the wood that had been used to nail the door shut. Bryce and Angela got out of the building. Just then, another explosion was heard coming from inside the building.
They all ran out of the place towards a safe place. The firefighter joined his colleagues to continue putting out the fire. The paramedics at the scene quickly came to attend to Bryce and Angela, but Angela collapsed. It was at that moment that Bryce noticed she was bleeding.
"No, no, no. Please help her. She is pregnant," Bryce said to the team.
Angela was put in the ambulance, and Bryce went with them after instructing Martin to find Zora and also who had planted the bombs.
At another location, Zora was tied up to a chair with a blindfold on. She had a cloth tied around her lips, preventing her from making any noise. Zora sat with tears streaming down her face as she could not move and also didn't know where she was. It only felt cold in the room, and it had a bad odour like there were some dead animals in there with her. She could hear some people talking, but she could not hear exactly what they were saying.
In another room, George was with four of the Davis guards while on a call.
"We have her. Bryce and Angela safely got out of the building," he reported.
"Good," Matilda said on the other end of the call. "You have spoken to the chief, right?" she asked.
"Yes, so he would take care of everything before anyone Bryce would assign to look into it got to the scene. His findings would not be different from what the police would have," George said.
"Good, keep that girl there. We would use her to get Angela, and we will use Angela to get to Bryce," Matilda said.
"Okay," George said, and the call ended.
"You will stay here and keep an eye on her. Be vigilant and do not underestimate Bryce," George said and left the place.
Back at the Davis home, Matilda, after the call, felt she was not alone. She quickly went to her monitor and turned it on. She saw Mrs Anderson tiptoeing away from her front door.
"So that witch was eavesdropping," Matilda said under her breath. "You were not part of my plan, but you are now," she said and walked towards her door.
She opened the door and stepped into the corridor.
"Mrs Anderson, I know you here. Don't let me come searching for you. There is no way out of this building. So come to me, let's chat in my room," Matilda said.
Mrs Anderson had reached the staircase and was about to descend. She had come to see Matilda after realising Angela and Zora were both out of the room. When she got to the door, before she could knock, she heard Matilda talking on the phone. Hearing her mention the chief, she decided to continue to listen, and that was when she heard her mention Angela's name and Bryce's name. She was leaving the place the same way she had come in, intending to alert Bryce about what she had heard, but Matilda caught her.
Mrs Anderson turned around and walked back in the direction she had come from. She came face-to-face with Matilda standing in front of her door.
"Come, let's have a chat," Matilda said with a smile, and Mrs Anderson had no option but to go to her.
