Chapter 345 Shoot Derek

Chapter 345 Shoot Derek
After bathing and changing into one of the clean outfits that had been left for her, Rebecca slowly walked out of the bathroom, still trying to clear her mind and make sense of everything that had happened to her, but the moment she stepped into the bedroom, she stopped abruptly when she noticed that she was no longer alone.

A man was standing near the bed, close to the tray of food that had been brought earlier, and for a brief second, Rebecca's heart stopped when she recognized him as one of the men she had seen during the attack the previous day, one of the same men who had taken her away after she had been drugged.

The man had his phone pressed against his ear, and although he had his back partially turned toward her, Rebecca could clearly hear what he was saying.

"She still hasn't eaten anything," he said into the phone, his voice low and serious, and after listening to whoever was speaking on the other end for a few seconds, he continued, "No, she hasn't touched the food at all, she is in the bathroom."

Rebecca's eyes widened as she realized they were talking about her, he was telling whoever was at the other end about her.

The realization sent a fresh wave of fear and anger through her body, and instead of dwelling on the fear, she chose the anger, she quickly walked toward him, desperation pushing her forward before she could even think about what she was doing.

"Who are you talking to?" she demanded when she got about five feet away from him, her voice trembling with both emotions. "What do you want from me, and where is my husband?"

The man, on hearing her voice just behind him, immediately turned toward her, and for a few seconds, he simply stared at her without saying anything, his expression giving away nothing.

Rebecca stepped closer when he didn't say anything.

"I'm talking to you," she said, her voice becoming more desperate. "Where is Derek? What happened to him? Is he alive? Did you hurt him?" she asked, the questions tumbling out of her before she could control herself.

Whoever was on the line must have heard her because the man lowered the phone from his ear and looked at her carefully before answering.

"My boss wants to talk to you," he said, his voice cold and clearly lacking emotion.

Rebecca frowned slightly.

"Your boss?" she asked, wanting to make sure she had heard him correctly, and the man nodded once before extending the phone toward her.

She hesitated for a moment, staring at the phone as though it might somehow contain the answer to every question that had been tormenting her since she woke up, then finally, she reached out and took it.

"Hello?" she said cautiously, and for a few seconds, there was nothing but silence on the other end.

Then, after a few more seconds of silence that had Rebecca removing the phone from her ear to check if the call was still connected, a voice finally came through.

"Why haven't you eaten?" the person asked, causing Rebecca to immediately frown.

There was something strange about the voice, it sounded like a man's voice, that she could make out, but it did not sound natural, it was almost as though the person was deliberately changing or masking his real voice so she would not be able to recognize him.

"Who are you?" she demanded, gripping the phone tightly. "Where am I, and what have you done with my husband?" she asked. This reaffirmed her belief that it wasn't Michael who kidnapped her, Michael wouldn't have gone to such an extent to hide himself from her. He wouldn't have cared about her finding out it was him that kidnapped her, which meant that whoever this mystery man was, he was someone afraid of her knowing his identity.

"I asked you why you haven't eaten," he repeated, deliberately ignoring her question, his voice calm in a way that frightened her more than shouting would have.

Rebecca's eyes narrowed on seeing how concerned the man was about her eating.

"I'm not eating," she replied firmly.

"Why?" the man asked.

"Because I don't know who you people are, I don't know where I am, you kidnapped me, took my phone, then locked me inside this room, and you expect me to calmly eat the food you bring me as though everything is normal," she replied angrily, stating the obvious. There was a brief silence after her outburst before the man finally spoke again.

"Do you want to harm yourself and your child?" he asked slowly, causing Rebecca to immediately place one hand protectively over her stomach. With this question, she knew this person was close to her because only a handful of people knew about her pregnancy, the question now was who had betrayed her, who had gone as far as to kidnap her and hurt Derek.

"Don't you dare bring my child into this," she snapped, tears already beginning to gather in her eyes. "If you want to threaten me, threaten me, but don't talk about my baby as though you have any right to."

"I don't want to hurt you or the child," the man replied calmly. "I want you to eat." Even through the voice changer or whatever the man was using, he sounded almost concerned, almost as if he cared, and that caused Rebecca to frown again. Her mind ran down every male she knew who would kidnap her and still be delusional enough to care, but she came up empty.

"No," she replied when she could find her voice again.

"You need to eat," the man said adamantly.

"I said no," she replied firmly again.

"You can continue refusing if you want, but that isn't going to change anything," the man said, causing another wave of anger to bubble inside Rebecca.

"And you can keep bringing food from today until tomorrow, bring enough food to fill this entire room if you want, but I am still not eating anything you people give me until you release me."

The man was silent for a moment, but when he finally spoke again, his voice sounded colder.

"I would hate to force you."

Rebecca swallowed dryly, the change in his voice scared her, but she still decided to stand by her answer.

"I don't care."

"If you refuse to eat, then you leave me no choice but to shoot Derek,"
