Chapter 336 Start Talking

Chapter 336 Start Talking
After leaving the Hemsworth residence, Mrs. Cole immediately got back into her car and drove toward the address the butler had given her, her mind filled with worry and uncertainty as she tried to imagine what she would find when she got there, she knew Ryan was her only hope of finding out where Derek and Rebecca had been taken to, and if he truly knew something about their whereabouts, then she needed him to tell her everything.

The drive felt longer than it actually was because her thoughts refused to settle, and every few minutes, she found herself glancing at the address again to make sure she was still heading in the right direction.

When she finally arrived, she immediately noticed several cars parked outside the house, and for a moment, she wondered if she had somehow arrived at the wrong place, but after checking the address once again, she realized that she was exactly where she was supposed to be.

She parked her car a short distance from the entrance and remained inside for a few seconds, she took a deep breath as she tried to gather herself, because she knew she couldn't afford to panic, at least not at the moment, she needed answers, and she wasn't leaving until she got them.

Stepping out of the car, she walked toward the entrance of the apartment, her handbag hanging tightly from her arm as she climbed the few steps leading to the door.

When she reached the door, she raised her hand and rang the bell, and for a few seconds, there was no response, she waited for a few more seconds again and realizing nobody was coming, she rang it again.

This time, she heard footsteps approaching from inside, and when the door finally opened, Mrs. Cole's expression immediately changed, because standing on the other side of the door was a young lady.

The two women stared at each other in surprise.

Mrs. Cole was surprised because she had been expecting to meet a man named Ryan because that was the name she had been given, and she had been told that this was his home address, so seeing a woman standing in front of her immediately made her wonder if she had somehow been given the wrong information.

Amelia, on the other hand, was equally confused by the older woman's sudden appearance.

"Good evening," Amelia greeted cautiously, her eyes moving over Mrs. Cole's face as she tried to understand who she was and why she had come.

"Good evening," Mrs. Cole replied, but her eyes remained on Amelia for another few seconds before she finally looked down at the address written on the piece of paper in her hand.

She checked it carefully before looking back at the house, and she was definitely at the right place.

Amelia noticed her confusion.

"Can I help you with something?" she asked politely.

Mrs. Cole looked at her.

"I'm looking for Mr. Ryan," she replied. "I was given this address as his home address."

Amelia's eyebrows lifted slightly.

"Ryan?" She asked and Mrs. Cole nodded quickly.

"Yes." She replied, almost sounding desperate.

Amelia turned her head slightly toward the inside of the house.

"Let me call him," she said, causing Mrs. Cole to nod, relieved that she was truly at the right address.

"Okay," she replied.

"Please excuse me for a moment," Amelia said before gently closing the door.

Mrs. Cole remained outside, staring at the closed door while her heart continued beating heavily inside her chest.

She didn't know what was happening inside that house, but judging from the number of cars parked outside, she had a feeling that Ryan and the young lady were not alone.

A few seconds later, the door opened again, and this time, it was a man whom she assumed to be Ryan standing there.

He looked at Mrs. Cole for a moment before speaking.

"I was told that you were looking for me."

Mrs. Cole nodded hurriedly.

"Yes."

Ryan's expression remained cautious.

"May I know why?"

"I came because of Rebecca and Derek," Mrs. Cole replied immediately, her voice filled with urgency. "I think I may have an idea of who kidnapped them."

"I came because of Rebecca and Derek."

Ryan's expression immediately changed.

"Rebecca and Derek?"

"Yes." Mrs. Cole swallowed. "I believe something has happened to them."

Ryan frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Mrs. Cole looked between him and Amelia.

"My son might be behind their kidnapping."

Silence fell.

Amelia slowly straightened.

"Kidnapping?"

Ryan stared at Mrs. Cole as though she had just spoken another language.

"What are you talking about?" he asked.

"They were kidnapped," Mrs. Cole repeated.

Ryan shook his head.

"No. That's not possible."

"I wouldn't have come here if I didn't believe it."

"You must be mistaken," Ryan said firmly. "Derek and Rebecca aren't missing. At least, no one has told us they're missing."

Mrs. Cole's face tightened.

"I know what I heard."

"From whom?"

"That's not important right now. What matters is that they are in danger."

Ryan took a step back.

His mind was already racing.

If Derek and Rebecca had really been kidnapped, why hadn't he heard anything?

Why hadn't either of them contacted him?

And why was this woman standing in his house telling him something that sounded completely impossible?

Amelia moved closer to him.

"Ryan, maybe she has the wrong people."

Mrs. Cole shook her head.

"No. I'm talking about Derek and Rebecca."

Ryan immediately pulled out his phone.

"I'm calling Rebecca."

He dialed her number.

Everyone waited.

The call didn't connect.

Ryan frowned and tried again.

Nothing.

He called Derek next.

The result was the same.

"His line is unreachable," Ryan muttered.

Amelia quickly pulled out her own phone.

"Let me try Rebecca."

She dialed.

A few seconds later, her expression changed.

"Same thing."

Ryan stared at his phone.

A strange uneasiness settled in his chest.

He had spoken to Derek recently. Rebecca had always answered her phone. Neither of them simply disappeared without saying anything.

He looked at Mrs. Cole again.

"How long have they been missing?"

"I don't know exactly."

"You said you know they were kidnapped."

"I believe they were."

"Then tell me what you know."

Mrs. Cole hesitated.

Ryan's voice became harder.

"Who told you? Where were they taken? When did this happen?"

"I don't have all the answers."

"Then why are you here?"

"Because I think my son is involved."

Ryan's eyes narrowed.

"Your son?"

Mrs. Cole nodded slowly.

"My son might be the person behind this."

Ryan stared at her.

For the first time, the possibility began to feel real.

He turned toward the men gathered around the table.

"Check every available record. Find out when Derek and Rebecca were last seen. Check their phones, vehicles, everything."

The men immediately began working.

Ryan then faced Mrs. Cole again.

"Now tell me everything you know."

Mrs. Cole took a shaky breath.

"My son's name is Adrian Cole."

Ryan went completely still.

The name meant nothing to him at first.

But the certainty in Mrs. Cole's voice made his suspicion deepen. Just then, he remembered who he was and how Derek had mentioned his interest in Rebecca.

"Adrian Cole," he repeated slowly. "And you believe he kidnapped Derek and Rebecca?"

Mrs. Cole nodded.

"I believe he might have."

Ryan's jaw tightened.

"And why would your son do that?"

Mrs. Cole lowered her eyes
.
"Because there's something about him you don't know."

Amelia looked at her anxiously.

"What?"

Mrs. Cole slowly raised her head.

"My son is not the man everyone thinks he is."

Ryan's expression hardened.

"Then start talking."
