Chapter 335 In Danger

Chapter 335 In Danger
After leaving Henry's house, Mrs. Cole immediately turned toward the Hemsworth residence instead of driving home, because there was only one thought running through her mind, and that was the possibility that Rebecca was in danger, and if what she had learned from Henry was true, then she could no longer sit back and wait for someone else to act.

Her hands tightened around the steering wheel as she drove, her mind going over everything Henry had told her, and with every passing minute, the guilt inside her seemed to grow heavier, because she kept remembering the day Adrian had first told her about Rebecca, the way he had spoken about her with so much excitement, and the way she had tried to warn him because she knew that Rebecca was already married, she had assumed he wouldn't go that far, and instead of acting first, she had sat back, and now her ignorance and negligence were about to cost them a lot.

She kept praying silently as she drove, hoping that somehow she would arrive at the Hemsworth residence in time to speak with Derek before anything happened, because she needed to warn him, she needed to tell him what she had discovered, and most importantly, she needed to find Rebecca before Adrian's actions caused something that could never be undone.

When she finally arrived at the Hemsworth residence, she slowed down as she approached the large gate, but before her car could get too close, the security personnel stationed there stepped forward, immediately signaling for her to stop.

She immediately came to a stop just a few feet away from where they stood, and when she noticed they were not going to come any closer to her, she came down from the car and stood beside it, as she looked at the men standing in front of her, trying to remain calm despite the urgency she felt inside.

"Good evening," she greeted quickly, but the security men remained cautious, it took a few seconds of communicating between themselves before the older of the two stepped closer to the car.

"Good evening, ma'am," he replied respectfully, but his expression remained serious. "I'm sorry, but we cannot allow you to enter."

Mrs. Cole's heart sank slightly.

"What?" she asked in disbelief. "Please, I need to speak with Mr. Hemsworth."

The younger security man exchanged a quick look with his colleague before looking back at her.

"Ma'am, we have strict instructions not to allow strangers into the compound without proper confirmation from the family," he replied.

"I understand," Mrs. Cole replied quickly, her voice becoming more desperate as she realized she was losing precious time. "But I am not here to cause any trouble, and I am not asking you to simply let me walk into the house without a reason, I came because I believe Mrs. Hemsworth may be in danger, and I need to speak with Mr. Hemsworth because I believe I may be able to help."

The two security men exchanged another look, this time longer than the first, clearly unsure about what to do, the older man finally cleared his throat as he turned back to her.

"Ma'am, please wait here for a moment, let me call the butler and explain what you have told us," he replied.

Mrs. Cole immediately nodded.

"Please do," she said softly. "Please, I just need someone to listen to me."

The security man nodded before turning around and walking toward the house, while Mrs. Cole remained beside her car, watching him disappear through the entrance, she clasped her hands together tightly, her fingers trembling slightly as she whispered a quiet prayer under her breath.

"Please, let them be safe," she whispered, her eyes closing briefly. "Please, let Rebecca be safe." She didn't know Rebecca personally, but her son's life depended on her safety.

A few minutes later, the security man returned, and Mrs. Cole immediately straightened as he walked toward her with a more relaxed expression than before.

"The butler said you can come inside, ma'am," he murmured, opening the small gate wider so she could walk inside, she released a breath she hadn't realized she had been holding.

"Thank you," she said quickly, giving the men a grateful nod before walking toward the entrance as fast as she could without appearing completely panicked.

As she approached the main entrance, she noticed an elderly man standing outside the door, waiting for her, the moment he saw her approaching, he stepped forward.

"Good evening, ma'am," he greeted politely.

"Good evening," Mrs. Cole replied, her eyes immediately searching behind him as though she expected to see Derek or Rebecca appear at any moment. "Are you the butler?"

"Yes, ma'am."

Mrs. Cole nodded quickly.

"I was told that I could come in because I said Mrs. Hemsworth might be in danger."

The butler's expression immediately became more serious.

"Mrs. Hemsworth might be in danger?" he repeated, looking at her with concern while she nodded.

"Yes, that is why I came," she replied, her voice filled with urgency. "I need to speak with Mr. Hemsworth as soon as possible."

The butler hesitated for a moment before giving her an apologetic look.

"I'm afraid you may have arrived at the wrong time, ma'am," he replied gently, while Mrs. Cole's heart immediately dropped.

"What do you mean?" she asked, already fearing the worst.

"Mr. and Mrs. Hemsworth went out earlier this evening," he explained. "They were invited to a birthday party hosted by one of Mr. Hemsworth's business associates."

For a moment, Mrs. Cole simply stared at him.

"They went out?" she asked, while the butler nodded before replying.

"Yes, ma'am."

"Both of them?"

The butler nodded again.

"Yes, ma'am. They left together."

Mrs. Cole's face immediately lost its color, she took a small step backward as the meaning of his words settled into her mind, and for a second, her knees nearly gave way beneath her but thankfully, the butler reacted quickly and reached out to steady her.

"Ma'am," he exclaimed with concern. "Are you alright?"

Mrs. Cole took a shaky breath, trying to regain her balance.

"Yes..." she whispered, though her voice clearly betrayed how frightened she was. "Yes, I'm fine."

The butler continued holding her arm until he was certain she could stand properly.

"Perhaps you should sit down for a moment." He suggested but Mrs. Cole shook her head.

"No," She replied quickly, shaking her head. "I can't sit down, not now." She doesn't have neither the luxury nor the time to sit down.

The butler looked at her with concern.

"Then please tell me what is going on, ma'am, because you came here saying Mrs. Hemsworth might be in danger, and if there is something I need to know, you should tell me so that I can inform Mr. Hemsworth as soon as he returns."

Mrs. Cole looked at him, her heart pounding heavily, she wanted to tell him everything, but she couldn't bring herself to do it yet, because from the way he was speaking, it was obvious that nobody in the house knew what had happened to Rebecca and possibly Derek, because if Rebecca had gone to the party with Derek, then there was a very high possibility that Derek had been taken as well, and that thought alone terrified her.

"Is there..." she began, but her voice faltered slightly but the butler said nothing , he just waited patiently for her to finish her sentence.

"Is there anyone I can speak with?" she finally asked. "Someone close to Mr. Hemsworth, someone who might know where they went tonight?"

The butler frowned slightly.

"You can tell me what the danger is, ma'am," he said, but Mrs. Cole shook her head.

"I will explain everything when I know exactly what is happening, but right now I need someone who might know where they are."

The butler studied her face carefully, clearly realizing that she was not ready to tell him everything.

"Is there someone?" Mrs. Cole asked again, desperation slowly entering her voice. "Please, I need to speak with someone who is very close to Mr. Hemsworth, someone who might know the venue of the party or might be able to reach him."

The butler thought for a moment before finally nodding.

"Yes, ma'am."

Mrs. Cole immediately breathed out in relief.

"Who?"

"Mr. Hemsworth has a very close friend," the butler explained. "If there is anyone who would most likely know where he is tonight, it would be him."

"Then please," Mrs. Cole said quickly, "I need his details."

The butler nodded.

"Of course, ma'am. Please wait here."

He turned around and walked back into the house, leaving Mrs. Cole standing outside with her arms wrapped around herself, she stared into the darkness beyond the compound, her mind filled with fear, she continued whispering silent prayers to God, or whoever was out there to hear her and help her.

Please let them be safe, please let Rebecca be safe, and please let Derek still be alive, she knew her son and, with the way Henry had explained his intent, she knew what he was capable of doing.

A few minutes later, the butler returned, holding a small piece of paper in his hand, causing her to immediately step toward him.

"Is that the information?" she asked, almost desperately.

"Yes, ma'am," he replied, before he handed the paper to her, and she hurriedly took it, unfolding it with slightly trembling fingers.

Her eyes quickly moved across the paper until she saw an address written clearly on it, she read it first before she looked up at the butler.

"Who is this?"

The elderly man gave her a calm but serious look.

"If there is anyone who would know about Mr. Hemsworth's whereabouts, ma'am, it would be his best friend, Mr. Ryan."
