Chapter 106 Glint of hope

Chapter 106 Glint of hope
Dr. Peters nodded slowly, clearly intrigued. “Alright,” he said, tapping a pen lightly against the desk as he thought. “That’s an important detail.”
Just then, a soft knock came from the door.
A nurse stepped in holding a file.
“Lucas’s card, sir.”
“Thank you,” Dr. Peters said, taking it and opening the folder.
He scanned through the records for a moment before looking up again, his expression thoughtful.
“Lucas,” he said carefully, “what you’re describing could be a very significant step in your development.”
Lucas felt his heart begin to pound. “Is… is that good?” he asked nervously.
Dr. Peters smiled again. “Yes,” he replied. “It means your body might finally be responding the way we hoped it would.”
Alex felt a wave of relief pass through him. He squeezed Lucas’s hand again.
   But the doctor wasn’t finished.
“So,” Dr. Peters continued gently. “Think carefully… what exactly was happening when it occurred?”
Lucas’s eyes slowly drifted toward Alex again. And suddenly, the room felt very, very quiet.
Lucas hesitated, his fingers tightening around each other as nervousness crept up his spine.
“Well… well…” he stuttered, unable to continue.
Dr. Peter Peters studied him for a second, then smiled gently as if he understood exactly what the problem was. He slowly pushed his chair back and stood.
“Alex,” he said politely, turning toward him. “May I speak with you outside for a moment?”
Alex didn’t question it. He immediately rose to his feet. “Sure.” He gave Lucas a reassuring look before following the doctor out of the office.
The moment the door closed behind them, the doctor spoke in a lower voice. “Alex,” he began calmly, “I think Lucas is feeling shy discussing this in your presence. Some patients find certain topics difficult when someone close to them is around.”
  Alex nodded in understanding.
“Could you give us a few minutes alone?” the doctor added.
Alex smiled lightly. “Of course, doctor. I’ll wait here.” He walked over to the patient waiting bench outside the office and sat down, leaning back while clasping his hands together. Even though he agreed easily, curiosity and concern still lingered in his eyes.
Inside the office, Dr. Peters returned without wasting time.
Lucas looked up when the door opened again.
“Where is Alex?” he asked quietly.
The doctor sat down again, keeping his tone casual. “He stepped out to use the restroom,” he said. “He’ll be back shortly.”
Lucas visibly relaxed. His shoulders loosened, and he exhaled softly.
Dr. Peters noticed the change immediately. “I thought so,” he said with a knowing smile. “You were feeling shy because he was here.”
Lucas lowered his gaze with a small embarrassed smile.
The doctor leaned forward slightly. “So,” he continued gently, “I’m guessing Alex might be the one triggering those erections you mentioned. Am I right?”
Lucas hesitated only briefly before nodding. “Yes, doctor.”
   “And it sometimes scares you?”
“Yes,” Lucas admitted honestly. “Sometimes it really does.”
The doctor shook his head reassuringly. “You don’t have to be afraid, Lucas,” he said kindly.
“What you’re describing is actually a very natural response. It simply means your body is reacting normally to attraction.”
   Lucas listened carefully, still unsure.
“Tell me,” the doctor continued, “How often does it happen?”
Lucas thought for a moment before answering. “It happens whenever he kisses me for a long time… or when he hugs me tightly.” He paused, trying to find the right words. “Sometimes… even the way he looks at me.”
He rubbed his hands together nervously. “Doctor, it’s hard to explain,” he continued softly. “It feels like everything about him makes my senses and my body behave strangely.”
Dr. Peters suddenly chuckled warmly. “Oh my goodness, Lucas,” he said with amusement. “That’s actually very simple.”
   Lucas looked up in confusion.
“You’re in love with Alex.”
Lucas’s face immediately flushed. A shy smile slowly spread across his lips. “Yes…” he admitted quietly. “I think I love him very much.”
   Then his smile faded slightly.
“But the problem is,  he wants me to share his bed and I… I…”
“You don’t want to?” the doctor asked gently.
Lucas shook his head quickly. “No, I want to,” he confessed. “But I’m worried.”
   “Worried about what?”
Lucas hesitated before answering. “You once told me that my reproductive system is underdeveloped,” he said carefully. “So I was surprised that I’m having such strong feelings and such strong reactions.”
Dr. Peters’ expression softened immediately. “Lucas,” he said calmly, “Having an underdeveloped reproductive system or hormonal imbalance doesn’t make you any less human.”
   Lucas looked up at him.
“You’re still capable of love, attraction, and emotional connection just like anyone else,” the doctor continued. “Those feelings are completely natural.”
   Lucas listened in silence.
“So don’t deny yourself happiness because of fear,” the doctor added kindly. “You deserve to experience life and love like every other person.”
Lucas still looked uncertain. “But what about the underdeveloped womb you mentioned before?” he asked quietly.
The doctor leaned back slightly, thinking. “Bodies can change over time,” he explained. “Hormones can shift, systems can develop further. Medical history is not always a final verdict.”
   Lucas’s eyes widened slightly.
“Really?” he asked. “Is that possible?”
Dr. Peters nodded. “Yes, it is.”
He tapped Lucas’s file thoughtfully.
“In fact, the fact that you’re now experiencing stronger and more consistent erections is already a significant sign that your hormonal activity may be changing.”
Lucas leaned forward slightly, his heart beginning to race.
“Which means,” the doctor continued, “there is every possibility that your ovarian system may also be going through some form of development or adjustment.”
Lucas stared at him in stunned silence. For the first time since entering the hospital, hope quietly began to rise inside him.
The doctor adjusted his glasses and looked at Lucas thoughtfully. “If you will allow us to run some tests, we’ll be able to determine whether there have been any hormonal changes.”
Lucas straightened in his seat, the sudden rush of hope making his chest tighten. “I want to do the tests,” he said quickly, almost breathless. “Please schedule them for me.”
The doctor studied him for a moment before nodding slowly. “Alright, Lucas… but,” he paused carefully, choosing his words, “don’t get your hopes up too high.”
Lucas gave a small, hopeful smile and shrugged lightly. “Hmm… okay, doctor. But you never can tell, right?”
The doctor chuckled softly. “Fair enough.”
He scribbled a few notes on a sheet of paper, then clipped it neatly to Lucas’s medical file.
“I’m really glad to see this new development in your attitude, Lucas,” the doctor said warmly as he stood and extended his hand.
Lucas rose and shook it. “Thank you, doctor.”
“You’ll receive a notification for the appointment soon,” the doctor added. “Let me walk you out.”
They stepped out of the consultation room and into the hallway. Alex was sitting on a chair nearby, speaking quietly on the phone. The moment he saw them, he stood up.
“Are we done?” he asked, covering the mouthpiece with his palm.
“Yes, Alex,” the doctor replied with a friendly nod. “And take good care of Lucas.”
Alex smiled politely as they shook hands. “I will, doctor.”
