Chapter 216
Chapter 216
Brandon couldn't hold it in anymore and burst out laughing beside them.
"Ms. Spencer, I really love your temper."
Victoria nodded at him. "Things are settled here. I'll leave the rest to Brandon and the doctor. I'm heading out."
Then she drove away.
Only the doctor, Brandon, and the other servants remained.
The doctor looked at Brandon with an indescribable expression. "Where on earth did you find such a demon?"
"I actually think she did nothing wrong. That bastard should have learned his lesson a long time ago."
"That may be true, but he's still the only heir. Does Brian really agree to treat his grandson like this?"
"Who says he's the only grandson?" Brandon smiled.
It was precisely because things had succeeded on the other end that Brian dared to make a move against this so-called grandson.
If this grandson could be straightened out, they could still leave him some way out. But if he refused to change, then there was no need to keep him around.
The two were so busy talking that they forgot about the two patients in the basement.
Finally, a servant couldn't stand it anymore and quietly reminded them, "Brandon, Alexander is still lying down there."
"I almost forgot." The doctor slapped his forehead and quickly directed people to run into the basement.
If someone really died in there, they wouldn't be able to explain it.
Soon, the servants carried two bloody, mangled figures out of the basement.
Some people around with weaker stomachs couldn't help but vomit.
The doctor ordered, "Quick, get them to the hospital! Be careful not to touch their wounds!"
Soon the two were gone. Brandon watched the car drive away, unable to hide his worry.
He didn't know if Brian's decision this time was good or bad.
Could Victoria really help the Carr Family?
At that moment, Victoria was at the mall. She was in the jewelry business herself, but she'd heard that Ralph preferred coffee.
She was planning to pick out something he liked to bring when she visited him.
After all, on the surface, that man had helped her a lot.
She still didn't know what his purpose was in doing all this, but she needed to observe proper etiquette.
After picking out the coffee, Victoria turned a corner and saw Eleanor.
She was in a mother and baby store, selecting baby products.
Victoria felt curious. Could Eleanor be picking things out for Hannah?
But when Hannah was suffering, why didn't Eleanor come out to help?
Somehow, Victoria suddenly remembered the obstetrics department she'd seen that day, and her suspicions grew stronger.
She carefully followed behind the woman, watching Eleanor gently stroke her belly, her face radiating a maternal glow.
Victoria's heart sank, and an unwelcome guess formed in her mind.
Was Eleanor pregnant? Then whose child was it? Chase's?
Victoria's breath caught. She bit her lip, thinking of Chase's strange behavior these past few days, and couldn't help but believe this guess.
But... no matter what, she needed to hear Chase admit it to her personally.
Rather than guessing here, she might as well go ask Chase directly.
Victoria was about to turn and leave.
Eleanor's voice came from behind her. "Ms. Spencer, what are you doing here too?"
She was carrying mother and baby products in one hand, while the other gently rested on her belly.
Victoria calmly scanned the items she was carrying, her eyes darkening.
"Just passing by." Her voice was cold, clearly not wanting to engage with her.
But Eleanor wouldn't let it go. "Ms. Spencer, why are you in such a hurry? Why don't you keep me company and look around the baby store? I don't have any friends here, and don't you want to know whose child I'm carrying?"
A triumphant smile hung on her face.
Victoria turned back to look at her, her tone cold as frost.
"What are you so proud of? You mean it's Chase's? Fine, even if it is his, what does that have to do with me? He won't let you have it."
Eleanor's face immediately darkened, but soon she resumed her superior attitude. "That's right, this child is, of course, his. After all, he's the only man I have. That night he made love to me so many times. Oh, and although he was quite vigorous with me in bed, he was calling out your name."
She smiled brightly, deliberately saying these things to disgust Victoria.
Victoria did feel somewhat nauseated. "It's just a baby. Getting pregnant is your luck, but whether you can actually give birth to it... depends on your ability."
Eleanor immediately stepped back, her eyes wary.
"He's a very responsible person. As long as I give birth to this child, he'll definitely come back to me. Victoria, you can't take him away."
Victoria didn't have time to waste words with her. No matter how hurt she felt inside, she couldn't show it in front of her.
"He's not a piece of merchandise. He has his own thoughts. Ms. Hartley, honestly, I used to admire you. After all, it's very difficult for a woman to establish herself in this market. But today you disgust me."
Victoria took her coffee and, not caring about Eleanor's state, turned and left directly.
Eleanor stood alone behind her, resentment in her eyes. Then she touched her belly, and her eyes became gentle again.
This child was her biggest bargaining chip.
Chase had grown up in a dysfunctional family. More than anyone, he longed to have a family of his own.
As long as this child was born, Chase would marry her for the child's sake, and then Victoria would be the one abandoned.
Eleanor returned to the mother-and-baby store, bought all the most expensive items, left a suburban address, and then left.
But she never expected that Chase was already waiting at the villa.
When Eleanor returned to the villa and saw the door she had originally locked was now wide open, she felt a little scared.
This place was too remote. Besides her, no one should come here. Who was in the villa?
Eleanor gathered her courage and pushed open the door.
Chase was sitting in the living room with medicine in front of him. When he saw her return, a cold smile curved his lips.
"Ms. Hartley, the most important thing about being human is integrity. Since you can't do that, I'll teach you."
Eleanor was startled and immediately turned to run.
But the villa door was closed from the outside.
Only then did Chase raise his head, murderous intent practically overflowing from his eyes.
Eleanor was terrified, her lips trembling. "No... Chase, the baby in my belly is yours too. Don't you want to have a family most of all? After I give birth to this child, we'll get married, and you'll have a complete family."
Chase looked as if he'd heard something hilarious. "A family? From beginning to end, I only want to have a family with Victoria. As for you and the child in your belly, you only make me sick!"
