Chapter 217

Eleanor's eyes turned red, and tears streamed down her face.

"No, that's not true, Chase. We've known each other since we were kids. What does Victoria have compared to us? She doesn't even love you—the person she loves is Aiden."

Veins bulged on Chase's forehead, his eyes growing even darker and gloomier.

"Shut up! Who she likes is none of your business. As for you... you must abort this child today and promise never to tell anyone about this. Otherwise, I don't mind killing you myself."

The veins at his temple throbbed, his face full of disgust.

He just wanted to deal with Eleanor quickly.

If Victoria found out about this, she would definitely be angry.

Eleanor touched her belly, her eyes falling on the pills on the table.

She kept backing away. "No, I won't! I won't take those pills. This child is mine. If you don't want the baby, I'll raise it myself!"

"I told you, you're not worthy." Chase picked up a pill from the table. "Last time I watched you take the morning-after pill with my own eyes, but the child wasn't aborted. Yesterday you went to the hospital and bribed the doctor. Do you think I'll still trust you?"

The white pill was tightly gripped in Chase's hand as he kept moving it forward.

Eleanor's face turned deathly pale in an instant.

She shook her head helplessly. "This is my only child, Chase. Even if you don't like this baby, it's okay—I can raise it! Why are you pushing me to this point!"

Chase didn't want to waste any more words. He grabbed her jaw directly, forcing her to open her mouth.

The pill was forced down her throat.

Eleanor looked terrified, her eyes wide open. She tried to struggle but couldn't break free, only feeling a burning pain in both cheeks.

The pill stuck in her throat. Eleanor desperately tried to break free, constantly clawing at her throat.

She had to keep this child!

She understood Chase—as long as this child was born, Chase would be with her out of responsibility.

Chase was quick to grab her hand, picking up the now-cold water from the table and pouring it down her mouth.

Eleanor didn't even have time to resist. The pill rushed down to her stomach with the cold water.

She collapsed on the sofa in a mess, tears welling up in her eyes, then suddenly burst into laughter.

"You think aborting my child means Victoria won't know? Chase, I saw Victoria this afternoon when I was buying baby supplies! I already told her the child in my belly is yours!"

Her hair was disheveled, matted to her face with sweat, and she looked utterly wretched.

Chase froze, grabbing her neck in disbelief. "What are you saying! Eleanor! How dare you let Victoria know! You're looking for death!"

Eleanor gasped for air, her lips gradually losing color as a strong sense of suffocation surged through her.

Chase's eyes showed uncontrollable panic and fear, even his voice was trembling.

"No, impossible. Victoria knows? Is what you're saying true?"

Eleanor desperately opened her mouth, her eyes rolling back continuously, as if she would suffocate and die the next second.

She reached out weakly and grabbed Chase's arm, saying feebly.

"Yes, why should I help you hide it? Chase, you wanted to destroy me, so I'm going to destroy you too. Let's go to hell together!"

Looking at this crazed woman, Chase felt a breath stuck in his throat.

Victoria already knew. The enormous panic wrapped around him like vines, almost drowning him.

Chase applied a bit more force with his hand.

His eyes were bloodshot as he suddenly flung his hand.

Eleanor was thrown like a rag doll, hitting the corner of the table before falling to the ground.

She quickly felt a sharp pain in her abdomen, as if a knife was constantly cutting the flesh of her belly.

Eleanor clutched her stomach and collapsed on the ground, her eyes terrified and helpless. "My... my child, Chase, I'm begging you, save our child!"

She reached out desperately trying to grab Chase's pant leg.

Chase bent down cruelly, his eyes filled with deadly intent.

"How could you tell Victoria? Eleanor, you and your child both deserve to die!"

Eleanor read the murderous intent in his eyes and shuddered.

"No, this is your child too... Chase, save me, don't do this to me."

Chase slowly stood up, a bitter smile tugging at his lips.

In an instant, his body seemed drained of its soul, leaving only a shell walking forward.

He staggered out the door, not looking back no matter how the person behind him called out.

Outside the door, his legs gave way.

He crashed heavily to the ground, his knees and arms bleeding.

As if he couldn't feel the pain, he stumbled to his feet and got back in his car.

In this enclosed space, Chase finally released all his pent-up emotions!

His hand raised high, slamming against the window again and again, beast-like roars coming from his throat.

He was unwilling and afraid!

He had to go back now. He had to explain everything clearly to Victoria—this wasn't what he wanted!

Chase slammed on the gas, heading toward Victoria's villa.

He was afraid that if he went too late, Victoria would leave like when she faked her death years ago.

What was originally a 40-minute drive was compressed into 20 minutes.

Chase stopped his car in front of the villa. The villa was brightly lit, but he didn't dare knock or go in.

Victoria was inside, but he hadn't figured out how to explain.

He didn't know how to face Victoria either.

He waited outside for half an hour.

Chase finally gathered his courage. He got out of the car, each step feeling like it was filled with lead, and heavily pushed open the door.

Victoria had been waiting in the living room.

On the table sat a full glass of water, but it had already gone cold.

Seeing Chase return, a slight smile curved her lips.

"Chase, where did you go? Why are you back so late? Do you want to eat?"

Her questions were the same as usual.

But the more normal they were, the more panicked Chase felt.

His body stiff, he finally came before Victoria.

When he raised his head, Chase's eyes were already full of tears.

He dropped to his knees with a thud.

Victoria was so startled she stood up immediately, reaching out to help him. "Chase, get up! Why are you kneeling?"

"About Eleanor—Victoria, I want to apologize and tell you everything. After what happened that day, I watched her take the morning-after pill with my own eyes, but just a few days ago..."

Chase told her everything about his interactions with Eleanor.

Victoria's hand paused in mid-air, then withdrew.

She hadn't wanted to expose the secret they both tacitly understood. Although there were reasons behind it that could be understood, the whole sordid affair was truly disgusting.

Ten minutes passed.

Chase had finished speaking. He knelt before Victoria, utterly humble and pleading.

"Can you forgive me?"
