Chapter 34: The Dates
Chapter 34: The Dates
Maddox’s P.O.V.
As the night drew to a close, I found himself lingering just a little longer beside Remy, reluctant to break the warm, easy silence between us. The city lights cast a soft glow over Remy’s smile, making it even harder for me to look away. I savored the moment, committing every detail to memory—the gentle laughter, the way our hands brushed, the feeling that something new was beginning. With a final, quiet promise that they'd do this again soon, I slid into the driver’s seat, glancing over at Remy as I prepared to head back to Aston’s bar for the late shift. The ride was quiet but comfortable, we shared smiles hinting at the connection that had deepened over the course of the evening.
Jessica’s P.O.V.
I couldn't help but grin as I watched Russell nervously straighten his jacket, his usual confidence softened by a flicker of anticipation. He’d chosen a cozy Italian bistro with flickering candlelight and the scent of garlic and basil swirling in the air. We slid into a corner booth, close enough to talk in hushed tones, and I caught the way his eyes crinkled when he laughed at my stories. Over plates of pasta and shared tiramisu, the conversation flowed easily—sometimes silly, sometimes thoughtful, always natural. There was a moment when the background faded, and it felt like it was just the two of us, our hands brushing as we reached for the same spoon. As the evening wore on, I realized I hadn't stopped smiling since he picked me up. By the time Russell walked me back to the bar since we both had to work that night, I felt lighter, as if hope were blooming quietly between us, promising something more with each gentle goodnight.
Stepping out into the cool night air, I hugged my jacket a little closer, feeling the buzz of laughter and music from Aston’s bar lingering behind me. Russell caught up, his hands stuffed deep into his pockets, and for a moment we just stood there, the city humming softly around us. He looked at me with an intensity that made my heart flutter, then took a breath, smiling nervously. “Jessica,” he began, his voice gentle but steady, “would you... do you want to be my girlfriend?” The words hung in the air between us, and I felt warmth bloom in my chest, the kind that makes everything feel possible.
“Yes, Russell I will be your girlfriend!” I answered him with excitement. Hearing my answer, he grabbed me around my waist bring me close to his chest and right their in front of my brother’s bar he gave me the sweetest kiss that I have ever gotten. Breaking apart from the kiss he then takes my hand in his and opening the door for me I walked into the bar with him still holding on to my hand for the whole bar to see. Now that is love, if only Remy could get a taste of it then she wouldn’t be self-destructive anymore. Yes, I am disappointed that tit didn’t work out between her and Aston and that she won’t be my sister-in-law, but maybe just maybe there is another way for that to happen. I think this to myself as I look over at Russell with nothing but love in my heart for him.
Remy’s P.O.V.
As the night is almost over I decided to take my last break of the night. Walking towards the break room I think back on the night with Maddox, did he take me out just to cheer me up or is it more than that? (Nah girl, get a grip on yourself, a guy like that wanting you, you are simply good enough for the guys that want you to think that they really give a damn about you. Someday I hope to feel the same love that my parents had. I get to the break room and before I can our myself a cup of coffee to keep me awake the break room door opens, then closes and then the guy that came in after me locks it.
“Gilbert what are you doing?” I aske with fear breaking out inside of me, it must have shown on my face because he jogs over to me and embraces me.
“Hey Rem, it’s ok I am not going to hurt you I promise you that. I just have something that I want to confess to you, if you will let me that is.” He says this like he is some nervous high school kid asking his crush for a date or a chance to be with him. I look at him confused and then I look up at him giving him my full attention.
“Ook, what is it that you could possibly have to confess to me.”
“I like you Remy, I mean a lot, in fact I think I may be falling in love with you.” He says this as he starts to take my clothes off.
“I don’t know.” I say as I start to take his off as well. “Wait what am I thinking!” I say in total shock of what I almost have done.
“Hey, it’s alright, I know how these pregnancy hormones are getting to you, come let your boyfriend take care of you.” He says as he continues to undress me and now himself. I just shake my head in agreement. (What could possibly go wrong with a man like Gilbert by my side, I mean he did confess to me, and he is the type of guy that I seem to be good enough for. Not guys like Jett, Maddox or even Gio. I need someone who is low just like me.) That is why I agreed to go out with him to be is girlfriend because I won’t be able to do any better. With that thought in my head I feel him thrust hard into me as he has me laid out on top of the break room table. He bangs me so hard that by the time we are done I am so sore I am surprised that I could walk back to mine and Jess’s office. At least it looks like Russell will get his happy ending.
Back in our office I am looking over the employee schedule in front of me and the website for the promotion. First I need to consult with Russell o a promotion idea and then find out if Gilbert will be willing to switch days with Jericho. So, as I am seeking around for either guy on the bar floor I hear a bunch of giggling coming from the dance floor as I look on in shock, regret, disbelief and most of all pain. I drop my things in shock and don’t even notice when Maddox comes over to me and picks my things up from the floor. I don’t realize he is standing right next to me until he speaks to me.
“Hey Rem, you ok? What’s wrong?” He asked sounding really worried about me and concerned. I couldn’t speak for the longest time all I could do is point to what as me so distraught out on the dance floor.
