Chapter 78 LXXVIII.

Chapter 78 LXXVIII.
George's POV.

I searched all over the party for Izzy but she was no where to be found. Where could she be? I saw her friends Raine and Sam, but I didn't want to talk to their snooby asses right now. Also if I go up to them and ask for Izzy's whereabouts, they might get suspicious.

I headed upstairs and found my self in an empty hallway, and there I found Izzy and Ethan talking. I hid behind a wall to eavesdrop on their conversation.

"Stop Izzy, this is wrong!" Ethan snapped as he pushed her away.

"But I love you Ethan, I've loved you for so long." She cried in a slurred voice that instantly told me she was drunk. She tried to grab Ethan again but he pushed her back harshly.

"Stop this Izzy! Don't you understand that what you're doing is wrong? I'm Raine's boyfriend and she's your friend. Don't you feel ashamed doing something like this to her!"

Izzy scoffed out a cold laugh. "Ashamed?!" She spat bitterly, "she's the one who should be ashamed. She stole you away from me! I confessed to you first, but you rejected me because of her!"

Ethan ran a hand through his hair in frustration. He looks like he wanted to be anywhere but here, "Izzy I thought we were over this. I thought you were over me."

Izzy stepped closer to him again. "I was never over you Ethan. I still love you so much." She wrapped his hand around his neck and made to kiss him, but this time he pushed her so hard that she fell to the floor.

My first instinct was to go help her, but I held back. I don't want them to know that I was eavesdropping on their conversation.

"I can't give you what you want from me Izzy. I can never betray Raine and you shouldn't either." He dusted himself like he was trying to get her stench off him, "what you did just now is disgusting. I hope you'll stay away from me from now on."

Even I flinched at his words. I know he doesn't love her, but common man. That was too harsh.

I watched him walk away quickly while Izzy remained on the floor crying.

For the first time since I got to know her, I felt really sorry for her. Was this what she meant when she said she knew what it feels like to play with someone's feelings?

However I knew I was right about one thing. Izzy loves someone else and that someone happens to be her friends boyfriend. Was that why she couldn't leave Ethan's group?

Slowly I approached her, but instead of helping her to her feet, I sat beside her on the floor with my back to the wall.

She stopped crying for a second and looked at me with confused drunken eyes. She looks a mess. Thanks to whatever makeup she had on, she was crying black tears.

"Are you okay?" I asked gently and she glared at me.

"Do I look okay?!"

I chuckled nervously, "sorry my bad. That was a stupid question."

Silence fell again before she continued. "You saw everything, didn't you?" I nodded and she looked away as if ashamed. "Then you must have seen how pathetic I was just now. It must have been entertaining to watch the person you hate the most get her heart broken by the person she loves the most."

I sighed staring up at the ceiling. "I may not like you all that much, but I don't hate you Izzy, and someone getting their heart broken is never a nice feeling. Why should I be happy about it." I looked at her and she was staring at me surprised. I smiled, "if anything, I understand you better now, and my dislike kind of lessen."

Tears rolled down her eyes and she looked away again. "Is it so wrong though? Is it so wrong to love someone." She sobbed. "What's so wrong with me that he can't choose me? I've loved him for years and he knows that. Why can't he just be with me instead?"

"That's just it Izzy. It's not your fault. You're not what he wants, and you have to accept that."

"But I can't," she cried. "What does he want? I can be whatever he wants me to be!"

I couldn't help chuckling a bit. "It doesn't work that way Izzy. You can't change yourself for someone else. You'll never be happy if you do that. The best thing is to let him go and find someone who would love you for you."

She sighed, but thankfully stopped crying. She stared at me, "you suck at giving advice, you know that right?"

I laughed a bit, "you're the first to tell me that."

To my surprise, she leaned her head against my shoulder, and I gulped and tried my best to remain calm. This is unexpected.

"Thank you George, I can see why Trisha likes you."

I frowned to confusion. Trisha likes me? Wait a minute, TRISHA LIKES ME!!!

Was I the person she was talking about when she said she likes someone? Is she afriad to tell me because she doesn't want to ruin our friendship? Was that why she asked me if I've ever been in love?

Or maybe I was overthinking things. Maybe Izzy meant 'like', as in platonic like. That makes more sense.

I saw that Izzy was falling asleep and I quickly called Trisha. She picked up at the second ring, "hey Trisha."

"George where are you? You've been gone for quite long now."

I looked at a sleeping Izzy, "sorry Trisha. I'm with Izzy. She fell asleep on me, and I need you to come show me to her car so we can take her home."

There was silence on the other line before Trisha spoke again. "What do you mean she fell asleep on you? How did you guys end up together?"

Something in her tone of voice left me stunned. Was that jealousy?

What the fuck! Does Trisha really like me?

"Uh... It's not something I can explain over the phone. Come over so we can get her home. I'm in an empty hallway up the stairs."

She said nothing more as she cut the call. That left me wondering deeply if Trisha really like me like I think she does. That would make perfect sense.

But I don't like her in that way and I seriously don't want to hurt her feelings. To me she's just a friend who I see as my little sister, and I don't want to ruin our friendship.

It's okay though. I won't say anything for now. I'll pretend like I don't know until she tells me herself, then I'm going to reject her as gently as possible.

Yeah, that's what I should do.

Trisha arrived minutes later and she didn't look so happy to see the position we were in, but she hid it well.

"What happened?" She asked staring at Izzy with worry.

"I think she's drunk and she has some confrontation with Ethan which made her sad. We talked a bit and she fell asleep."

Trisha fell on her knees staring at Izzy in concern. She brushed a strand of hair from Izzy's face and sighed. "Let's take her home." She stood up while avoiding my eyes, "she's going on a trip with her parents tomorrow and she needs to be home early."

Trisha was acting weird which heightened my suspicious about her liking me. But I played dumb and helped pick up Izzy bridal style as Trisha lead us out of the mansion towards the direction of her car.

When we got to Izzy's car, I helped secure her in the passenger side as she let out cute drunken mumblings.

I looked at Trisha after shutting the door. "Where's her keys?"

Trisha bit her lips, "it's fine. I can take her home."

I raised my brow surprised. "You can drive?"

"Of course I can, I'm not that dumb!" She snapped which shocked me a bit.

"Um... Sorry, I never meant to imply that you're dumb Trisha. It's okay, you can take her home."

She sighed and let out a calming breath. "I'm sorry George, I didn't mean to snap. You look tired. You should just go home and rest."

I nodded with a smile, "sure. Take care of yourself and take care of Izzy too."

She nodded as she hurriedly got into the car and drove off. I was shocked to find that she really could drive.

Two things disturbed my mind though. I found out Trisha is in love with me and also, Izzy is leaving tomorrow.

How am I supposed to ask her about her twin and get Isabella's number. I might just have to wait till she gets back.

That sucks!
