Make me a warrior
Ken

“No, I won't promise anything," I said, stalling.

Enoch's smile faltered, but he persisted. "Ken, think about the future of our pack. We can't afford to isolate ourselves."

Victor spoke up, his voice measured. "Ken, Gamma Enoch has a point. Our scouts have reported increased demon activity near our borders."

I clenched my jaw, unwilling to concede. "Fine, I'll consider it. But that doesn't mean I have agreed," I said finally.

Enoch's eyes lit up. "That's all I ask," he said.

As they left, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was walking into a trap. The werewolf convention. It sounded like a recipe for disaster. But what choice did I have? The demons, witches, and vampires were closing in.

And then there was Sicilia. Her presence lingered in my mind like a ghost. I couldn't explain why, but I felt drawn to her. Was it fate? Or was it a manipulation? I needed answers.

"Enoch!" I called out.

Enoch reappeared, his expression curious. "Yes, Alpha?"

"Find out everything you can about Sicilia," I ordered.

Enoch's eyebrows rose. "William's relative?" I nodded.

“Why are you so interested in a woman? I mean you always treat them like puppets,” Enoch said with furrowed brows.

I put my hands inside my pocket and squeezed my face. “I am not interested in any woman. It's my duty as an Alpha to keep my pack safe from intruders, so I have to make sure that Sicilia is clean,” I lied through my teeth. But then again, it was one of the reasons.

“Intruders?” Enoch arched his eyebrows at me. “If you're really against the intruders, you will be in the werewolf conversion,” he replied.

I glared at Enoch, my eyes narrowing. "Don't twist my words," I warned.

"I'm just stating the truth, Alpha Ken." Enoch held up his hands in defense.

I sighed, my frustration simmering. "Just investigate Sicilia. I want to know her past, her motivations, her relationship with William... everything."

Enoch nodded, his expression serious. "I'll dig deep, Alpha. But be warned: if she's hiding something, it might not be easy to uncover since William is wild."

I nodded curtly. "See that you do."

“Okay, but don't forget to think about the conversion,” Enoch reminded me and quickly ran out of the room.

I sighed deeply, ‘Being the leader is harder than it looks,’ I muttered and opened the door, ready to leave. But to my surprise, Sicilia entered breathing heavily, it looked like she had run miles.

I wasn't expecting her, and I didn't bother to hide my questioning gaze. “What are you doing here? I am not in the mood to chat!” I informed her curtly.

Sicilia widened her eyes and blocked my path.

'This lady just keeps surprising me with her fearless behavior!’ I thought.

“I know what I want,” she informed me with an excited voice.

“You know what you want?” I paused momentarily, thinking. I was in a bad mood, but hearing her request might clear the air. To me, ‘She was just like every other woman who would ask to be my mistress,’ but Sicilia being Sicilia decided to shock me.

“I want to be part of the warriors! Not just part, I want to have a huge position, probably one that brings me closer to you,” she said with a seducing voice and winked at me.

I was speechless, and kept staring at her for hours. How can a beautiful lady think of joining the warriors? Isn't she afraid to die? I wondered, but then she killed one of my guards a few days ago, so she wasn't scared of death.

My jaw dropped, stunned by her audacity.

"You want to join the warriors?" I repeated, incredulous.

Sicilia nodded, her eyes sparkling with determination. "Not just join, Alpha Ken. I want a high-ranking position."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. A woman, asking to join the warriors? It was unheard of. And yet, Sicilia's confidence was captivating.

"I'm not sure you understand what you're asking for," I said, trying to reason with her. "The warriors are the elite fighters of the pack. It's not a place for... fragile things."

Sicilia's smile was radiant. "I'm not fragile, Alpha Ken. I'm stronger than you think. In fact, I will conquer you in a duo,” she boasted.

Her words sent a shiver down my spine. Was she serious? Did she think she could handle the warriors, much more me? And what was her motive? Was it truly to serve the pack, or was there something more?

I searched her eyes, looking for answers. But all I saw was determination. And something else… A spark of anger. Damn it! I couldn't deny it, I was drawn to her.

"Very well," I said finally. "I'll consider your request."

Sicilia's face lit up. "Thank you, Alpha Ken!"

But I raised a hand, stopping her. "Under one condition."

Her eyes narrowed. "What condition?"

"You'll have to prove yourself worthy," I replied.

Sicilia's smile grew wider. "I'm ready for the challenge."

I was surprised at how quickly she agreed. I had expected her to back down or complain. “What is your motive?” I asked with raised brows.

“My motive?” Sicilia mumbled, and for a second, I could swear that I saw pain and fire in her eyes

“I want to be able to protect you,” she replied.

“Protect me? Sicilia, as a warrior, you wouldn't live in the pack. You will always be needed on the war front, so it will be impossible to protect me. Moreover, you told you that I need your protection?” I asked with furrowed brows, pretending to be offended.

Sicilia's smile faltered for a moment, and I saw a glimmer of vulnerability.

"No, Alpha Ken," she said softly. "I just want to prove myself worthy of your trust."

Her words struck a chord within me. No one had ever offered to protect me before, not even my mother.

I was the Alpha, the protector. Not the protected. But Sicilia's words awakened a deep desire within me. To be protected, to be cared for. I pushed the feeling aside, focusing on the task at hand.

Sicilia must have realized how I felt because she smiled broadly at me. “If I pass the trial, I would like to be your personal guard and also a warrior!” She demanded.
