Her maid
Her maid
Sicilia
“You must be the new maid?” Lady Patricia asked me with a grimace.
It was at that moment it clinked, and I realized that she was the head maid Gamma Enoch had spoken about.
“Yes, I am,” I replied politely. I felt pity for her at first, but the expensive attire she wore explained that she was not the beggar I imagined.
Patricia nodded her head at my words, and her eyes fell to the floor. “What happened to the cupcakes?” She asked, scrutinizing Crystal and I.
I kept quiet, {Silence is the best answer after all}, but that blabbermouth Crystal decided to run her mouth.
“My lady, I caught her stealing the cupcakes. In fact, she ate a bowl of buns,” Crystal lied smoothly, trying to gain the head maid's favor.
I furrowed my brows, “They always like to overdo, don't they?” I asked myself rhetorically.
“Lady Patricia, indeed I took a piece of cupcake because I was hungry, but when Crystal came in, she tried cajoling me to steal from the buns; when I refused, she took a handful of cupcakes, while trying to escape, she hit the tray, and out fell the little cakes,” I explained with a remorseful look. “I am so sorry for taking the cake without your permission,” I apologized, trying to act like the victim.
Crystal was shocked, she didn't expect me to come up with an excuse, and she began to stutter, unsure of what to say. “L- Lady Patricia, she is lying. I swear I didn't….”
“That's enough!” Patricia thundered and the room became silent.
Crystal was crying, I guess she regretted her actions and I felt sorry for her, but I didn't say anything, because sometimes it's better for the guilty to pay for their crime.
'When next you're reborn, you will remember to avoid me like a plague. You'll always mind your business,’ I thought, smiling menacingly.
I was about to say that ‘life in the mansion is easier than I expected’ when Lady Patricia's words echoed in my ears.
“You will both bake twenty cupcakes as a punishment, and there's no lunch for you!” Patricia said with a firm voice, and I was caught by surprise.
“But Patricia, Crystal should be the one doing the baking, not me,” I chipped in angrily.
Lady Patricia squinted her eyes at me, “Firstly, it's Lady Patricia. Also, I am the one who determines who gets punished, so I will advise you to get to work, except you're ready to sleep on a hungry stomach.”
Crystal cleaned her eyes, and quickly picked up the cupcake tray, while I stood still giving Lady Patricia a challenging gaze.
Patricia and I looked at each other before she left the room. I sighed softly, I had thought that I’d get along with her, but as usual, fate had a plan of its own.
I reluctantly agreed to carry out my punishment. "Thanks to you, we'll both starve," I muttered, snatching the mixing bowl for Crystal.
Crystal trembled, avoiding eye contact.
"You should have kept your mouth shut," I hissed. “Always trying to be the white sheep, even when no one cares.”
Crystal's tears flowed anew, but I didn't sympathize, I felt really angry, also I read her emotions, and I knew she wasn't remorseful.
We worked in silence, measuring ingredients. As we mixed and baked, my mind wandered to Priya's plan.
How would I seduce Ken without losing myself? How do I carry out my revenge in the most painful way?
Unable to come up with a solution, I growled. “Argh! This bitch has made me angry!” I said, giving Crystal an intimidating gaze.
Few hours later, the cupcakes were baked to perfection, filling the kitchen with sweetness. But my mood remained bitter.
Just as we finished, Lady Patricia returned.
"Present them to Alpha Ken," she ordered, and without waiting for our response, she left.
My heart skipped a beat. At that moment, I wished Tessa was around because she would have served Ken, while I hid in a corner. It wasn't about me being a coward, it was about not wanting to see the face of the man that murdered me.
‘Make him fall in love with you, then your revenge will be sweeter,’ I remembered Frank's advice. This was my chance to begin Priya's plan.
I carefully arranged the cupcakes on a platter of gold. Crystal's eyes widened as I transformed into a vision of elegance.
"Let's go," I said, striding out of the kitchen. I paused momentarily, took a piece of cupcake, and stretched it to Crystal.
“Although you are a liar, it would be unfair if you don't taste the cupcake,” my voice was plain. I gave her the cupcake as an 'I don't hate you' offering
Crystal was hesitant to collect the cake from me. I frowned at her, and she swiftly ate it, trailing behind, awestruck.
In the dining hall, Ken awaited, his eyes narrowing as I approached. I told Crystal to stay behind while I deal with the rude and pompous Alpha, as the popular saying goes, ‘Only a beauty can help a beast, but I wasn't a beauty neither was I here to help any motherfucker, I was here to steal, kill and destroy.
My eyes locked onto his, and I smirked mischievously as I curtsied.
"Alpha Ken, your cupcakes," I announced, my voice husky.
Ken's gaze lingered on mine, a flicker of surprise dancing within. His eyes roamed over me, taking in my transformed appearance.
Priya's words echoed in my mind: "Make him fall in love with you. Gain his trust...".
I smiled, my lips curling upward, “I hope these are to your taste, we put our soul into making it.”
Ken's expression softened, his eyes crinkling at the corners, but he quickly put on a frown, trying to look intimidating. “What took you so long? Did you plan to starve me to death?” He asked with raised brows when I dropped the tray on the table.
'This is just dessert, you've eaten the main meal.’ I had the urge to tell him these, but I kept quiet, focusing on my mission.
“I apologize. Please have a bite,” I urged him. Ken wanted to take a piece of the cake, but he paused, furrowed his brows, and looked at me.
“Do you think I am that easy?” Ken asked suspiciously and pushed the tray away from his side.
“Huh?” I was surprised by what he meant.
“Have a bite, so I would be sure I am not getting poisoned.” Alpha Ken demanded with a smug.
I gasped, feigning offense. "Poison?" I repeated, my voice laced with innocence.
"How dare you, Alpha Ken!" I added, playing the hurt maid.
Ken's expression remained skeptical, but a hint of amusement danced in his eyes. "Prove it's safe," he said, his voice firm.
I smiled, anticipating this. "I'll take a bite," I offered, picking up a cupcake.
Ken's eyes widened as I brought the cupcake to my lips.
"Wait!" he ordered, his hand grasping my wrist. Our skin touched, sending shivers down my spine. Ken's eyes locked onto mine, a spark of electricity between us.
"Let's make this interesting," Ken whispered. His hot breath caressed my ear, sending my heart racing.
"What do you propose?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. This wasn't what I had planned. I’m supposed to seduce and kill him, not the other way round.
Ken's smile was wicked. "If the cupcakes are safe, I'll grant you a favor."
My mind racing, I nodded. "I accept."
Ken released my wrist, his eyes never leaving mine. "Take a bite," he commanded.
I took a deep breath, my heart pounding. This was it. The game had begun.
I bit into the cupcake, the sweetness exploding in my mouth. Crystal's baking skills were exceptional.
Ken's eyes watched mine, searching for any sign of deception. I chewed, savoring the moment. Then, I smiled.
"Delicious," I mumbled, licking my fingers playfully.
Ken's expression softened. "Very well," he said. His gaze never left mine as he took a bite of the cupcake.
Ken savored the cupcake, his expression changing from surprise to delight. His eyes widened in surprise, and I smiled inwardly.
“Not bad," he murmured, acting uninterested.
My smile grew. "Thank you, Alpha Ken."
'Get ready to die soon,’ I said in my head, smiling like a fool.
“By the way, what is your request?” he inquired.
