Chapter One Hundred And Twenty Three

Destiny

“Whoa!” Dad says after David gave us a long explanation as to who Dura is and how he found out about Dura. I am just as shocked as he is, and at the same time, I can’t keep my eyes off Max, who looks like a sleeping beauty right now. I’m worried about him, I hope David isn’t planning on letting him die. I just met him and I don’t want to lose him again.

“Don’t worry, no one is going to die well-Max is the only one that’s going to die.”

“What?” I’m glad everyone shares my shock and sentiment because I’m not the only one who asked the WH question.

“David, what the fuck? Don’t tell me this was your plan all along.” Jeremy says, and everyone looks at David in shock, like he’s a madman. I bet he is a mad man and I will treat him like such because there’s no way I’m going to be allowing him to do harm to my brother. No way.

“No, no. Max will die but he’ll be brought back to life,” he says, so sure of himself.

“Oh, son, I don’t think that’s how it works,” Dad says. Yes, Max has nine lives, but you know Dura can easily end those lives in a second.

“Yes, I know but…Jeremy, you remember when we fought Michael.”

“How could I ever forget, it cost my cousin his life.”

“Yeah, right, of course, you remember,, sorry. But while people were fighting Michael’s puppets. Michael found a way to stab me with the golden sword, you know the sword that ends the life of a werecat completely. I was dead, for good all of my lives were good. But then I was brought back to life by the uniters.”

“Oh, yes I remember. The other uniters who joined in the fight brought you back.” Says Jeremy pointing at him.

David snaps his finger loving the fact that he remembers. “Exactly, and now you know where I’m going with this?”

“Yes, yes I do, but doesn’t that only work for uniters and not normal werecats?” he asks, and this reminds me of a study I did back in Egypt when I found out uniters were being killed by Michael. Most uniters were living in solitude so they didn’t know any other uniters. And some didn’t know there was a hack and uniters have to stick together to be stronger. I did so much research on werecats, Bastet and everything.

So to answer Jeremy’s question.

“Yes, it will work on Max,” I say, and everyone’s focus is on me, and that’s when I remember a huge detail from my studies. “Oh my God, I’m such an idiot. When a uniter’s mate dies he can be brought back to life by the uniter. But it can only be done once.”

“Whoa! Really?” Harper asks looking at me all skeptic. They’re all sceptical of me, except Dad, who is looking at me, wanting to know more.

“Yes,” I say confidently. “It’s known as a myth though I don’t know how true it is. But I did read about it and under it it’s been stated it has never been done or it has been done but has never been recorded.” so I guess we’re back to square one because I’m only saying this based on a mythical theory I’m not sure if it’s all going to work.

“It has happened before,” Dad says and we all look at him now. But he doesn’t look at any of us. Although I can see the sadness on his face even with his head down. I can sense that he’s thinking of an old harsh memory.

“What is it, Dad?” I ask him.

“It was Dinah, Max’s mother. I died, and she brought me back to life,” he says, and then he finally looks at me. The whole room is in shock. If Max can hear us then I bet he’s in shock as well.

“Dad, what?”

“I didn’t know it for sure because Dinah and Adel didn’t want to tell me they wanted to keep it from me. I was shot by a silver bullet. It was a robbery gone wrong. I swear I could feel my spirit being lifted out of my body. I could see my physical body but it was all bloodied. It was obvious I had received the gunshot, and I had died. I could see Dinah and Adel crying, and then the next thing I saw, Dinah put her claws into my chest and…”

He stops and everyone stares at him.

“And?” Asks Ryan, David’s ex-boyfriend.

“And I was brought back. I remember receiving a hug from both my mates. I knew I should have died, but they told me it was a gold bullet, but I remember now it was silver and it had killed me. I was supposed to die but Dinah brought me back to life.

All this while, I thought it was just a mere dream, but it wasn’t a dream; it was real. I was healed and brought back by Dinah who was a uniter.”

“Holy shit.” I hear David whisper and yes, holy shit indeed. “So that means it’s going to work.” Says David. “My parents will stay in Arizona, and I’m going to bring Max back to life if Daniel kills him,” he says it like he’s so simple, but why do I have a feeling it’s not going to be as simple?

“I’m going to look for Daniel and tell him that I will not be calling my parents to tell them to come here. But first, someone has to tell Sara about what’s going on.”

“I’ll go,” Jeremy says. “And Destiny, since you’re family, you have to come with me,” he says to me, and my focus is still on my dad. “Yeah,” I say staring at him. I still cannot believe that my father died once. If it weren’t for Dinah, he would have died, and I would not be alive. Holy shit what a day this has been.

“Wow, it’s like watching an American soap opera but with supernatural creatures.” Says Felicity who has been standing there quietly listening to us. She’s my girlfriend I had to bring her.

“Tell me about it.” Harper agrees and Felicity is right. So, if this is an American soap opera, that means the shocking twists we’ve received today are nothing compared to the ones we’re about to face in the future, and I know there’s more to come.

“Hey, Destiny,” David says walking over to me. He places his hands on my shoulders like a big brother would do his little bro. I look into his eyes and they’re filled with courage and innocence.

“I’m not going to let anything happen to Max okay?”

I just stare at him, and then I nod my head right then and there because Max is like a brother to me, and I trust him. He loves Max as well and I know he’ll do anything in his power to make sure that Max is safe and secure.

“I know,” I say, and then we look at each other, smiling. I look away from him, and I turn to Dad, who still looks shaken up by the memory. Oh, poor guy.

“Dad, I’ll see you later, okay? We’re just going to go see Sara.”

“Want me to come with you. I do need to pay her a visit.”

“No, you can visit her some other time. She needs one visitor at a time; right now, please stay with Max and the others.” I plead, and Dad nods his head.

“No worries son.”

I wrap him up in a hug. “I love you, Dad.”

“I love you too.” I release myself from the hug, and I gesture for Jeremy to follow me out of the penthouse.

Sara

I’ve been in this institution for like three days and all I can say is that. It’s not all that bad; I’ve made lots of friends because, of course, I have, the activities here are worth participating in, and I never thought I’d see myself like the fact that I’m seeing a therapist. This place isn’t heaven but I believe that I’m going fix myself in here.

Everywhere is so peaceful and calm, I’m nowhere close to the outside world and I’m loving it. Right now, we’re doing yoga, and I feel so at peace right now. Yoga is one of my favourite things to do. And I’ve been so good at stretching and meditating, eradicating all of what was in my brain and replacing it with nothing but emptiness that gives me peace.

After yoga, I go to meet Max, but at least I think it’s Max because it was announced that my family member is here to see me. But these aren’t visiting days, but then they said it was urgent, so now I’m a bit scared.

When I walk into the empty visiting room, I see that it’s not Max at all, but my brother and Jeremy. My eyes light up when I see him, I never thought I’d see him again after our last conversation. I thought he’d be pissed at me for drinking werewolf’s blood. But he doesn’t look pissed. He smiles at me and I smile back.

But I still don’t understand what’s going on. Why are they here? What’s going on?

“Hey, Destiny.”

“Hey, Sis.” we both hug, and then I move over to Jeremy, and I hug him as well, but it’s awkward.

But then there’s no time for awkwardness because I know that they’re here. After all, something is wrong.

“Alright cut to the chase,” I say sitting down and folding my arms. “What the fuck happened now?”
