Chapter One Hundred And Twenty Two
Maxwell
I have never been told to make such a serious decision in my life. This isn’t the kind of decision where you’re required to make up your mind quickly. It’s not choosing what you’d eat in a restaurant or choosing between throwing a Disney-themed party or a Barbie-themed party for a little girl or boy. This is a life or death situation I’m being asked to save a life while killing another.
I’m being asked to save my mate while killing my parents. This is a hard decision to make but an angry part of me wants to call my parents so they’d get here and come face to face with the baby boy they kicked out of their lives.
I want to do that to them because they lied to me all these years. All this while, I had a twin brother, and they didn’t say a thing; all this while, I thought I was the only child, and meanwhile, there was a man who looked just like me.
I’m sure it was easy for him to find me because I’m always active on social media; I’m a social butterfly, a party animal who has the aim of telling everyone to live their lives to the fullest. He must have seen my Instagram account. I bet he already knew what our parents did to him because the person they sent to get rid of him didn’t get rid of him at all, instead, they took him in and decided to raise him.
And maybe he’s been trying to get revenge ever since. Who knows? I just want to call on him and talk to him, but I doubt that will solve matters because he’s filled with so much rage, so much anger that he would summon a powerful demon and allow it to go on a killing spree just so that the demon would become powerful enough.
I know what the demon wants; he wants to take over the world, but what does Daniel want? I’m sure he doesn’t just want to kill our parents or Max because if he does will he really be satisfied with himself? Will he finally be happy that he reached his end goal? I doubt it, which is why I want us to have a reasonable conversation with our parents included in the matter.
I gently lay Max on the bed, and he remains unmoving, and he’s so fucking ice cold. It’s like he’s already dead, but he’s not; his heart is still beating, and even though I cannot hear his thoughts, I know that he’s happy that I haven’t left him, and I know that he’s glad I’m here.
I can’t believe I thought of leaving him. So what if Jeremy didn’t talk some sense into me and I left? What would have become of Max would Daniel have killed him? I don’t want to think of Max dying; he’s not going to die,, and even though I’m angry with the,m, neither are my parents.
I move closer to my parents, and I place my right hand on his bony face, and I just stare at him; he’s so beautiful even when he’s unconscious; everything about him is beautiful. I want to just stay here and kiss him and tell him how perfect he is.
“I’m sorry that I left you in the first place,” I whisper to him hoping that he’s listening to me. He has to know that I feel so bad for not believing him. He didn’t deserve that. I want him to know that he’s the love of my life, and nothing will ever change that, and that he’s not going to die, and I’m not going to allow him to die.
Oh, Max, you’ve been through so much. You don’t deserve this; you don’t deserve this at all. Imagine being privileged your whole life just for death and suffering to come knocking on the doors to meet you and your parents. I feel so bad for him
“David, what are we going to do?” Jeremy asks as he stays there in the background quiet as ever.
I have to find a way to get us out of this mess. But I don’t even know where to start. I feel like what Daniel is doing is pretty harsh and it’s nothing but cruel, but then, at the same time, I feel like I understand where he’s coming from. If I were him, I’d be angry that my parents abandoned me and never loved me in the first place, but they have all the love in their hearts for my other sibling.
That would have sparked a kind of jealousy and rage in me that I don’t think anyone would understand, no one would understand. Which begs the question. Should my parents have given in to the fear-mongering and abandoned Daniel, or should they have already given Daniel a chance?
Thinking about being abandoned by my parents just fueled my anger in me. Could it be that Daniel was never born evil but the prophecy of him becoming evil was fulfilled because my parents abandoned him?
If I were abandoned instead of Daniel, wouldn’t I have become evil? Daniel isn’t an evil person. He’s just been misunderstood. He wasn’t born this way, circumstances made him this way.
I move away from Max, and I face Jeremy, who looks just as worried as I am about the whole situation.
“I don’t know what we’re going to do next,” I tell him, pointing black because I don’t have all the answers. “But I do think we should reassemble. We have to tell the others about what happened and who summoned Dura,” I say with a heavy sigh; this is all just so tiring.
“Everyone, including Sara.”
“Sara? But she’s at rehab do you think she should be thinking about all this?” Jeremy asks.
“Well, her brother is in a coma and she would want to know what’s happened to him.” I say, “Only family is allowed to visit her, and luckily, Destiny is her brother, and we can use him to get in there.”
Jeremy shakes his head because I know Sara is supposed to be recovering from all this. She doesn’t need all this stress because, at this point, she has to think of herself and how she’s going to get back on her feet. It’ll be hard to tell her that my twin brother has put her brother in a coma. I don’t know if that will get her back to taking the substance but it’s worth the try.
Fuck, she hasn’t even been in there for long and she’s already going to be faced with more problems. But I want to assure her that she should free her mind of any problems and I will be dealing with them.
I have to talk to Daniel, that is all I want for us brothers to have a conversation. I know he’s hurting, I do, and if he does what he’s threatening us to do, then he’s going to seriously regret it.
“What about your parents? They still think that you’re coming to Arizona. You have to call them one way or another to tell them if you’re coming or not, and the next call would be to tell them to stay where they are or to come here.” Says Jeremy, and I just stand quietly, looking at him as if I don’t know all these things. I’m the one making the decisions here.
“If I tell them I’m not going to be going to Arizona, they’re going to continue to stay there, and they’ll be able to live their lives,s, but Max will die. But at the same time if I call them to come over here. Max will live his life and my parents will die.”
Death and parents should not be in the same sentence but there are a lot of people who have lost their parents. Like Max.
“How sure are we that that man is even going to be keeping his promises?” Jeremy asks, and that’s a good question because what if I bring them here and Daniel kills both Max and my parents?
But wait a minute, Max is a supernatural creature, a werecat my parents are just humans.
“I think I have an idea but I don’t know if it’s going to work. We just have to do more research first. No one has to die.”
Jeremy just looks at me confused. “What’s your plan?”
“Just gather the others and let’s meet up here to talk about this plan. I’m not going to allow Daniel to allow his hate to consume him. He’s done a horrible thing, but he’s hurt; he’s not the enemy here. The true enemy is Dura and we have to find a way to either destroy him or send him back to the underworld.”
“What about the angel that sent him to the underworld in the first place? Can’t we just summon them for them to take Dura back?”
“I doubt it’s going to be easy to do that, and that’s why Dura is taking people’s souls to become stronger and stronger.” Jeremy nods his head. I’m glad we’re on the same page, and he can see where I’m coming from.
“Daniel might even be under the deep influence of Dura, making him more angry and vengeful than before.” that makes a lot of sense because we’ve already established that Dura can get into one’s mind and do a lot of damage.
“Just gather the others, okay? We’re going to save Max and my parents, and we’re going to get Dura back to where he belongs.
“Okay, I cannot wait to hear this plan. I’ll go look for the others you stay here and look after Max.” Jeremy says.
“Thank you, Jeremy.”
“Don’t mention it, you’re like a little brother to me. Elijah would have wanted us to shut this shit down,” he says and I nod my head in agreement. I’m so glad to have a friend like Jeremy. Jeremy walks out of the room and heads over to the elevator leaving me along with Max.
When we’re alone again, I move over to Max and put my hand on his chest. I wonder what’s going on in his head. All I know is that it can’t be good.
“Don’t worry Max,” I say to him. “We’ll get you out of this.”
