.The next morning

Emma was walking through the hallway. She was trying her best not to be deluded by what happened yesterday night. She knew he wasn't going to come back after going to see Mia. She already threatened to keep them apart, but she's not ready to cause trouble. So she better adjust to her new life. She went to the maids quarters and demanded the present of her maids, and they were called out.

"I want you both to show me around the palace to check if everything is in order," She said in a meek tone.

"Yes, my Lord." They bow slightly. She starts walking away, and they follow her behind. She was supposed to go on her own but didn't want to cause any damage; she's wolfless and didn't know who her enemies and friends were in the palace, so she had to be guarded. They showed her different places and also had to walked to where the slaves were kept. She was surprised to see the children around working so hard.

"What are these children and this people doing here? she demanded, her eyes filled with anger.

"Your Majesty, they are the slaves and their children; most of them have been here for years, and even though they are giving freedom to mates, they can't move around anyone how they like; their lives belong to his Majesty, "Clara explained.

"So they buy slaves in this pack." Her expression changes to a void one which was unusual about her; she can't believe people can be enslaved when they have a great Alpha like Nathan.

"No, your Majesty, they don't buy slaves; all these slaves are the ones they captured from past wars" Benita added.

"No matter how it does, slavery shouldn't be allowed in this pack. Not under our regime. I need to see his highest with immediate effect." She spoke out, walking away fast. Her maids followed suit as she walked upstairs and then to the king's room. She places a knock on his door.

"Who's there? he demanded from inside.

"Emma," She replied, turning back to her maids.

"You both can leave for now; I will call you when I need you." She pressed the knot, and it opened. She entered the room with an aggressive face. Alpha Nathan was trying to know why she had that face, so he thought she was angry about not showing up in her room.

",I am sorry I stood you up again. I actually came but you were asleep, but I didn't want to disturb you after a stressful day" he apologized.

"So you came? I thought you weren't going to show up, so I slept off" she asked

"Didn't you get my letter? he asked, and she nodded a no in reply.

",I never got any letters; what's in the letters? she asked, and Alpha Nathan scratched his head, blushing.

"Alpha, please, I am not here because you didn't come to my room on time. We had a very important issue to deal with." She spoke, and Alpha Nathan looked at her, trying to understand what she was trying to explain.

"What's that, Luna Emma? he mumbled under his breath, staring at her with curiosity-filled eyes.

"I found out there is still slavery in this palace. Those people deserve their freedom. I can't bear to see the children working hard with those parents; it's heartbreaking." She stood on her feet.

"Slavery in my palace I never told them to enslave anyone. I have been thinking that all this year's captured slaves will later be released to live in freedom. That sounds new to me; how could I not be aware."The sincerity in his tone said it all.

"I guess I have been too busy; ever since I have been staying in this palace, I haven't checked all around. Maybe that's why I never noticed." He gritted his teeth with anger-filled eyes.

"Now that you know, what are you going to do about it?" She asked, looking into his eyes.

"I will have to have a meeting with my beta and the elders of the cabinet. At least they must be aware of this; all the slaves Will be free, and we shall redeem their hopes by giving them compensation. Even though I find it difficult to believe such is happening in this palace" he bit his lips, regretting not having focused more and trusting his Beta to always do everything.

"You don't have to be hard on yourself; at least you were able to find out before it's too late. I will like you to come and see them yourself." She said that, and he nodded as they both walked out of the room, passing through the hallway. They walked for like 15 minutes before getting to the place.

"I never realized this palace is so deep. I am proud of you. I haven't noticed this" She smirks without uttering any words.

They finally get there, and the slaves are surprised to see him. One boy of nearly 12 years ran to him.

"You must be Alpha Nathan; I heard that you are very nice. I have been hoping you come to save us one day. I always prayed to Mother Goddess every day for you to come to our aid. It seems my prayers have been answered. I didn't give up like my parents did. They said they were suffering the punishment of their cruel Alpha, who only cares about himself," the boy explained, and tears dropped down Emma's face. Alpha Nathan took a deep breath and bent to his level.

"Your prayers were all answered; you and everyone here are free from today onwards; no more slavery in this palace" he declared, and the guards released everyone of them.

Alpha Nathan stood to address them. "I am sorry that you have to go through this; I never knew there was slavery going on in my palace. I am sorry for noticing this late.
