Chapter 262

Chapter 262

It's an upscale restaurant.

Nash glanced at it and immediately gasped.

I know this place—at least two thousand dollars per person.

With several of them going, it'll cost quite a bit.

I saw Nash grit his teeth.

I watched him borrow ten thousand dollars and send it to Eleanor.

Eleanor immediately took the money but didn't reply.

Nash sent Eleanor a few more messages, but got no response.

He was about to put away his phone when he suddenly received a call from Eleanor.

His heart leapt with joy, and he was about to call her name, but Eleanor's cold voice came through the receiver.

Even from far away, I could hear it clearly.

"Nash is nothing. I don't care about him at all. He's just an old man.Does he really think he's that important?"

Nash, who had been smiling just moments ago, instantly froze.

But Eleanor kept going on and on: "Nash actually thinks I could be with him, when I'm about to go abroad."

"He should look in the mirror—as if he's worthy!"

Eleanor's best friends kept mocking him too.

"Nash has no idea. If he knew the truth, he'd be crying his eyes out."

"Did you see how embarrassed Nash looked just now? An old man like him can't compare to Paxton!"

Eleanor's mocking laughter still echoed through the phone as Nash's face turned awkward.

I looked coldly at this so-called "Miracle doctor," now reduced to this state, and couldn't help showing a mocking expression.

Nash gripped the game disc so tightly that he crushed it, blood dripping all over the floor.

Pitiful people must have hateful qualities.

I felt no sympathy for him whatsoever.

"Nash," I didn't hesitate any longer and walked toward him. "Long time no see."

Liam followed me, approaching and quietly blocking Nash's path.

Nash frowned at me, confusion flashing in his eyes. "Who are you?"

I nodded. "Makes sense. After all these years, you've probably forgotten me."

Nash stared at me, then suddenly exclaimed, "It's you! The sick daughter from the Davis family!"

"So you do remember me." I asked casually, "Back then, you and the Sanchez family joined forces. To get that project, you deceived my family, saying I only had a few hours to live. Did you ever think about today?"

"I..." Nash looked panicked. He tried to back away, but Liam didn't give him a chance to leave, stepping forward to block his path and trapping him against the bookshelf.

Seeing he couldn't escape, Nash could only say awkwardly, "The Sanchez family forced me to do it. I'm innocent."

"Look at my situation now. If I were really that capable, how would I have ended up like this?"

Nash glanced at us and said, "If you're looking for the mastermind, you shouldn't come to me—you should go to the Sanchez family."

"You're pretty good at deflecting." I sneered and said casually, "As far as I know, you don't have much money left, right? You gave all your money to Eleanor, and now it's all been for nothing. How you'll even survive is questionable."

At the mention of this, Nash looked troubled.

He didn't ask how I knew.

With my current status, finding out about him was incredibly easy.

"What exactly do you want?" Nash lowered his head, his voice hoarse. "You came looking for me specifically—it can't just be to mock me, right?"

My eyes turned cold as I said directly, "I want to know who saved me back then and how to contact him!"

Hearing this, Nash narrowed his eyes.

A calculating look flashed in his eyes. Though it disappeared quickly, I still caught it.

"I know this person," Nash deliberately held back, "but he's not easy to find."

He rubbed his hands together in a seemingly casual way.

Clearly asking for money.

I laughed coldly.

This man was truly shameless, still trying to extort money even in this situation.

"In that case, there's no need for us to talk," I turned around, pretending to leave. "I should probably buy off Eleanor instead. She should know about everything you've done."

"Or not just her," I said with a playful expression. "From now on, any woman you're interested in should learn about you first before deciding whether to be with you."

Liam immediately played along: "What do you think—if they knew Nash doesn't have much money and goes around deceiving people, would they still want to be with you?"

Nash's expression immediately changed.

I knew these words had hit home.

At his age, and still alone, what he wanted most was a companion!

Sure enough, as soon as the words left my mouth, Nash suddenly shouted, "Don't!"

He showed a pleading look. "Please don't do that!"

I raised my chin, looking at him coldly. "That depends on whether what you say is worth it."

"Tell me everything you know!"

Nash stood there, his expression constantly changing, until finally he sighed. "Back then, I signed an agreement with the Sanchez family. Apart from the two of us, no one else knew about these things."

"But since you're pressing me today, I can only break that agreement."

As he spoke, a look of admiration and envy appeared in his eyes. "The person who saved you at the Davis family home was the Miracle Doctor from the black market."

"Why he happened to be at your house, I don't know. I called myself the Miracle doctor just to scam some money, but he's the real Miracle doctor."

I silently repeated the name in my mind, then continued asking, "Why did all my memories disappear after he treated me?"

"Well," Nash hesitated, then explained, "I don't fully understand either, but I guess he encountered some difficulty during treatment and could only seal your memories so you could survive."

"As a last resort, the Miracle doctor used this method. Although you recovered normally later, the painful memories disappeared. This is also a form of treatment."

My heart trembled.

"Do you know where he is now?" I nervously asked my final question.

Nash smiled bitterly. "Funny enough, I actually know his location."

"He's currently living in seclusion on Mistveil Mountain in the suburbs," Nash said helplessly. "I happened to run into him. I wanted to become his apprentice, but he refused."

I didn't expect he'd had such plans.

Nash said, "Ms. Davis, I've told you everything I know. Can you let me go now?"
