Chapter 80 Chapter 80
The night was quiet. The sound of crickets filled the air, and the moonlight slipped gently through the curtains. Savannah lay on the bed, her eyes half-closed. She was tired after the long day out with Adrian.
She turned slowly, placing her hand on her belly. The baby had been kicking more than usual that evening. She smiled a little and whispered, “You’re almost here, my little one.”
After a while, she felt a sharp pain in her lower stomach. She gasped softly and sat up. “Maybe it’s just a small cramp,” she told herself. She lay back again, but a few minutes later, the pain came again — stronger this time.
Her breathing grew fast. “Oh God…” she whispered. She held her belly and tried to stay calm.
Adrian was still in his study downstairs, reading through some papers. When he heard a small sound from upstairs, he stopped and listened. At first, he thought it was nothing, but then he heard her call weakly, “Adrian!”
He dropped everything and rushed up the stairs. When he entered the room, Savannah was holding her stomach tightly, her face pale.
“What’s wrong?” he asked quickly, running to her side.
She groaned softly, “I think… it’s time. The baby… it’s coming.”
Adrian’s eyes widened. For a moment, he froze. Then he quickly helped her sit up. “Okay, okay, don’t panic. I’m here.”
Savannah tried to breathe slowly. “It hurts,” she whispered, sweat already forming on her forehead.
Adrian shouted for help. “Maria! Anna! Get the car ready! Call the doctor now!”
The maids came rushing in, their eyes wide with fear and worry. “Sir, should we call the hospital too?” one asked.
“Yes, now!” Adrian said firmly.
He turned back to Savannah, holding her hand. “You’ll be fine, okay? Just breathe.”
She nodded weakly, tears rolling down her cheeks. “I’m scared…”
Adrian squeezed her hand gently. “Don’t be scared, I’m here with you. Everything will be fine.”
Within minutes, the maids brought a small hospital bag that had been packed weeks ago, just in case. Adrian lifted Savannah gently into his arms and carried her down the stairs.
The maids quickly opened the door, and Adrian placed her carefully in the car. He got in beside her, while one of the guards drove as fast as he could.
Savannah cried softly as another wave of pain hit her. “It’s too much,” she whispered.
Adrian held her close. “Just a little more, Savannah. We’re almost there.”
The car raced through the quiet streets until they reached the hospital. Nurses rushed to meet them at the entrance. They placed Savannah on a stretcher and pushed her into the maternity ward.
Adrian followed closely, his heart beating fast. The doctor came out quickly — the same one who had treated Savannah before.
“Mr. Adrian, please wait outside,” the doctor said calmly. “We’ll take care of her.”
Adrian looked worried. “Can I stay with her?”
The doctor shook his head. “Just wait here. We’ll call you if we need anything.”
Adrian nodded slowly, watching as they pushed Savannah inside. He stood by the door, running his hands through his hair, pacing back and forth.
Inside the room, Savannah gripped the bed tightly, trying her best to stay strong. The nurses kept telling her to breathe, but the pain was too much. Tears rolled down her face.
She whispered softly, “God, please help me. Please keep my baby safe.”
Outside, Adrian couldn’t sit still. Every time he heard her cry, his heart broke. He kept asking the nurse, “Is she okay? Is everything fine?”
“Yes, sir,” the nurse said gently. “She’s strong. The doctor is doing his best.”
Minutes turned into hours. The night felt long and endless. Adrian stood by the window, looking up at the sky. “Please, let her be okay,” he whispered to himself.
After what felt like forever, the door finally opened. The doctor came out, smiling tiredly.
Adrian rushed to him. “Doctor, how is she? Is she okay? The baby?”
The doctor smiled wider. “Congratulations, Mr. Adrian. It’s a baby boy. Both mother and child are fine.”
Adrian froze for a moment. Then he let out a deep breath of relief, his eyes bright. “A boy?” he said softly, as if testing the words.
“Yes,” the doctor said. “She’s resting now. You can go in and see her.”
Adrian nodded quickly and walked into the room.
Savannah lay weakly on the bed, her eyes half open. When she saw him, a small smile formed on her lips. In her arms, she held a tiny baby wrapped in a soft white blanket.
Adrian walked closer slowly, his heart beating fast. He looked down at the small face — peaceful, innocent, perfect.
“He’s so beautiful,” he whispered.
Savannah nodded weakly. “He looks like you,” she said softly, her eyes full of tears.
Adrian laughed lightly, shaking his head. “No, he looks like you — calm and beautiful.”
Savannah smiled tiredly. “We made it.”
Adrian sat beside her and touched the baby’s tiny hand. It was so small and warm. “Thank you, Savannah,” he said quietly. “Thank you for bringing him into this world.”
She looked at him with gentle eyes. “You were here for me, Adrian. I don’t know what I would have done without you.”
He smiled softly. “You’ll never have to face anything alone again. I promise.”
The baby made a small sound, and they both looked at him. Adrian chuckled softly. “Looks like he’s already trying to talk.”
Savannah laughed weakly, wiping her tears. “Welcome to the world, my little one.”
Adrian looked at her, his heart full of peace. That night, he realized something — he didn’t just love Savannah, he loved the little family they had become.
Outside, the stars shone brightly in the sky, as if blessing their new beginning.
