Chapter 65 Chapter 65
Cassandra sat in the living room, wearing a silk robe and holding a glass of wine. The morning sun shone through the big window, making the gold curtains glow. She looked relaxed, but her mind was far from peaceful.
Nathaniel came down the stairs, fixing the buttons on his shirt. He was getting ready for work. Cassandra looked up and smiled sweetly.
“Good morning, darling,” she said, crossing her legs.
Nathaniel gave her a small nod. “Morning.”
She watched him for a moment, then stood up and walked to him, wrapping her arms around his neck. “You’ve been so busy lately, my love. You hardly have time for me.”
He sighed and gently moved her hands. “You know I have a lot to handle at the company.”
Cassandra frowned slightly. “Company, company, company… that’s all I hear every day. What about me, Nathaniel? Don’t I matter anymore?”
Nathaniel picked up his car key from the table. “You have everything you want here. I take care of you, don’t I?”
Cassandra smiled again but her eyes were sharp. “Yes, you do, but there’s one thing you haven’t done.”
He looked at her. “What is that?”
She walked slowly to the sofa and sat down again, pretending to act calm. “The property documents,” she said softly. “You promised to make me your partner. To transfer some shares and properties into my name.”
Nathaniel stopped for a moment, then sat down across from her. “Cassandra, you know this isn’t the right time. Things are not stable yet.”
Cassandra forced a small laugh. “Not the right time? Nathaniel, when will it ever be the right time? I’ve been with you through everything. I left my whole life for you.”
He rubbed his forehead tiredly. “I know, Cassandra. I haven’t forgotten what you’ve done for me.”
She leaned forward, her voice softer. “Then show me. Let me have something in my name. I don’t want to wake up one morning and see everything gone.”
Nathaniel looked at her in silence. He didn’t like how desperate she sounded. “You have my word, Cassandra. You’re not going anywhere, and neither am I.”
She smiled, but deep inside, she was angry. His word? That’s not enough, she thought. I need something real — documents, power, everything he owns.
Just then, Vanessa walked in with her usual bold smile. “Good morning, lovers,” she said, sitting beside Cassandra.
Nathaniel nodded once and said, “Morning,” before focusing on his wristwatch.
Vanessa laughed. “Cassandra, you look so serious. What’s going on?”
Cassandra smiled weakly. “Just trying to convince my man to do something for me.”
Vanessa’s eyes sparkled. “Let me guess — the properties?”
Cassandra gave her a small nod.
Vanessa chuckled. “You’ll get them, trust me. Men like him always fall when they think they’re in control.”
Nathaniel looked up at her. “Vanessa, don’t start.”
Vanessa smiled innocently. “Just saying the truth, sir.”
Nathaniel stood up, clearly annoyed. “I’m going to work. We’ll talk later.”
He picked up his jacket and walked out of the house without another word. The door closed behind him.
The moment he left, Cassandra dropped her fake smile and hissed loudly. “I’m tired of waiting! He keeps giving me promises like I’m a fool.”
Vanessa laughed. “You just need to play your cards well. Don’t push too much or he’ll get suspicious. Be sweet. Be soft. Then strike when he least expects it.”
Cassandra smirked. “You’re right. I’ve come too far to lose everything now. I’ll get those documents, one way or another.”
Vanessa took a sip of her drink. “You will. Just don’t forget your best friend when it happens.”
Cassandra smiled slowly. “Don’t worry, Vanessa. I’ll make sure you get your share. Once those documents are in my hand, I’ll be the real queen of this house.”
They both laughed softly, the sound echoing through the quiet mansion.
Outside, the gardener watered the flowers, and the maids worked quietly, pretending not to hear their conversation. But deep down, everyone in the house could feel it — something dark was brewing.
Cassandra looked at her reflection in the glass door, her smile fading. “Savannah may be gone,” she whispered to herself, “but I’m still here. And soon, everything will belong to me.”
She lifted her glass again and took a slow sip, her eyes cold and full of greed.
Meanwhile, far away, in a peaceful mansion across town, Savannah sat on the balcony, rubbing her baby bump gently as Adrian came out with two cups of tea.
The two worlds — one full of greed and lies, the other full of quiet love — were moving closer without knowing what fate had planned for them next.
