Chapter 58 Chapter 58
Savannah sat quietly in the living room that morning, her hands resting gently on her stomach. The house was bright, the air smelling fresh and clean. Maids moved around, arranging flowers and dusting the shelves. She smiled at how peaceful everything felt.
Adrian had gone out early for work, but before leaving, he told her a doctor would visit. He didn’t want her moving too much, especially now that she was eight months gone.
A few minutes later, one of the maids walked in and said politely, “Ma’am, the doctor is here.”
Savannah nodded, and soon the doctor entered with a soft smile. He was tall, wearing glasses, holding a brown case. “Good morning, Mrs.—” he paused, unsure what to call her.
Savannah smiled shyly. “Just call me Savannah.”
“Alright, Savannah,” he said kindly. “How are you feeling today?”
“I’m fine, doctor. Just a bit tired.”
He nodded. “That’s normal at this stage.” He checked her pulse, then her blood pressure. “You’re healthy,” he said, “and the baby’s heartbeat is strong.”
Savannah’s face brightened. “Really?”
“Yes,” the doctor said with a warm smile. “But you need to rest more. Don’t stand too long or stress yourself. Your due date is close, so you must avoid anything that will make you weak.”
“I understand, doctor. I’ll be careful,” she said softly.
The doctor turned to one of the maids. “Make sure she eats on time and sleeps well. No heavy work at all.”
“Yes, doctor,” the maid replied.
When he finished checking her, he packed his things and gave a small paper to the maid. “These are vitamins. She must take them daily.”
After he left, Savannah leaned back on the couch. She touched her stomach and smiled softly. “You’re growing fast,” she whispered to the baby.
A few moments later, Adrian called to check on her. “Has the doctor come?”
“Yes,” Savannah said, smiling at the sound of his voice. “He said everything is fine.”
“Good,” Adrian said. “I’ll be home early. Don’t move around too much.”
Savannah laughed lightly. “You sound like an old man already.”
Adrian chuckled. “I’m serious, Savannah. You mean a lot to me. I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
Her heart skipped a beat, but she said nothing. “Alright, sir,” she teased softly.
After the call ended, Savannah looked around the big house again. She felt a strange warmth in her chest. For the first time in months, she was not afraid. Maybe, just maybe, things were beginning to change for the better.
