Chapter 232 : Chapter 232
Adrian stood at the window, watching the sunrise slowly stretch across the sky. The light was pale, soft, and quiet — the kind of morning that should have brought peace. But inside him, there was no peace at all. His chest felt heavy, his head full.
He looked back at Savannah, still sleeping. Her face looked calm, almost like she was dreaming of something good. Her hand rested on her small baby bump. That sight made him smile weakly, even though his heart was storming.
He whispered, “You don’t deserve any of this. Not fear, not pain. Only peace.”
But he knew peace would not come easy. Not after that message. Not after Nathaniel.
Adrian walked quietly out of the room, careful not to make a sound. He went downstairs and called Detective Henry again.
“Detective, good morning. Did you find anything yet?”
Henry’s voice was firm. “Good morning, Mr. Blake. We traced the number that sent the message ‘We are close.’ It’s a disposable sim card — unregistered, very professional. Someone is covering their tracks. But don’t worry, we’re tracking the tower signal. Stay alert and act normal. Don’t tell your wife yet.”
Adrian nodded slowly. “Alright, thank you.”
He ended the call and sat on the couch, his hands clasped together. His thoughts were all over. He couldn’t believe Nathaniel was still trying to reach Savannah after everything. And that message — We are close — what did it mean? Was someone watching them already?
He rubbed his face and sighed deeply. “No, I won’t let this happen,” he whispered to himself.
Just then, Rose came from the kitchen, yawning softly. “Good morning, sir. You’re up early.”
Adrian forced a small smile. “Morning, Rose. Just… couldn’t sleep well.”
Rose nodded and said, “Madam wasn’t feeling too good yesterday. Maybe she needs to rest more.”
Adrian looked toward the stairs and nodded. “Yes, I’ll make sure of that.”
He made coffee but didn’t drink it. His hands were shaking slightly. He walked back upstairs quietly and placed the cup on the bedside table for Savannah. She was still sleeping, curled up, her hand on her stomach. He watched her for a moment longer.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed again — a message alert. His heart skipped a beat. He picked it up quickly before it could wake her. It was from the same unknown number.
> “You can’t hide her forever.”
Adrian froze. His fingers trembled as he stared at the screen. Whoever this was, they were threatening him now. He knew he couldn’t keep this from Detective Henry anymore.
He quickly took another screenshot and sent it to the detective with a short message:
> Just received this now. They’re getting bold.
Then he turned off the phone and placed it back beside Savannah.
A few minutes later, Savannah slowly woke up. She rubbed her eyes, then smiled softly when she saw Adrian sitting beside her. “Hey…” she said weakly. “You didn’t sleep, did you?”
He smiled back, hiding everything behind calm eyes. “I just couldn’t. I wanted to make sure you and the baby are okay.”
She touched his hand gently. “You worry too much.”
“Because I love you too much,” he replied softly.
Savannah smiled shyly and looked down at her bump. “Our baby is growing.”
Adrian smiled too, though his heart still raced. “Yes. And we’ll keep both of you safe. Always.”
He kissed her forehead gently, then stood up. “Rest, okay? I’ll handle everything today.”
Savannah nodded, her eyes half closed again. “Alright, my love.”
He left the room and went straight to his study. He locked the door and opened his laptop. He began searching for Nathaniel Brown — recent news, business updates, anything. When the page loaded, he froze. Nathaniel had recently sold one of his companies and disappeared from the media spotlight. No public appearances. No interviews.
“Where are you, Nathaniel?” Adrian muttered under his breath.
Then, he scrolled down and saw something that made his blood run cold. A news report. Nathaniel Brown last seen leaving a dinner event weeks ago. Sources say he has been acting strange and obsessed with finding someone.
Adrian clenched his jaw. “He’s coming for her. I know it.”
He quickly wrote a short note on his phone:
> Double the security. No one comes close to Savannah without my permission.
He sent it to the head guard at the gate.
Then, he looked at Savannah’s photo on his desk — the one they took on their wedding day. She was smiling so wide, so full of light. He whispered softly, “No one will touch you, Savannah. Not him, not anyone.”
He stood and walked to the window again, looking outside. The morning sun had fully risen now. Birds flew past. Everything looked peaceful — but Adrian knew that somewhere out there, danger was waiting, planning, and watching.
And he was ready to fight it with everything he had.
