Chapter 230 Chapter 230

Chapter 230 Chapter 230

The sun was already up, painting the whole mansion with a warm golden glow. Adrian stood by the window in his white shirt, sipping a cup of coffee and thinking about how peaceful everything felt lately. Savannah was still asleep, curled up softly on the bed with her hand on her baby bump. Liam had gone to school early that morning, excited about his class project.

Everything looked perfect.
Or at least, it did — until Adrian’s phone suddenly rang.

He frowned when he saw the number. It wasn’t saved, and the digits looked strange. For a second, he thought it might be a wrong number. But something in his gut told him to pick it.

“Hello?” he said in a calm voice.

There was silence for a moment. Only a faint sound of wind came through the phone. “Hello?” he said again, this time louder.

Then a voice came — low, shaky, and nervous. “Mr. Adrian…”

Adrian stiffened. “Yes? Who is this?”

The voice whispered, “I don’t have much time. Please listen carefully. Your wife… Savannah… she’s not safe.”

Adrian’s heartbeat skipped. “What do you mean she’s not safe? Who is this?”

“I can’t say who I am,” the voice continued quickly. “But someone’s planning to hurt her. I’ve heard their plans. You need to keep her away from the hospital for now. Please… don’t let her go out alone.”

Adrian’s hand tightened around his phone. “What are you talking about? Who’s planning to hurt her?!”

The voice trembled. “I can’t say more. They’ll kill me if they know I talked to you. Just… trust me, sir. Don’t let your wife out of your sight. And watch everyone around you.”

Before Adrian could say another word, the line went dead.

He stood frozen for a moment, still holding the phone to his ear. His heart was pounding fast now. He quickly tried calling back, but the number was already disconnected.

He stared at the phone screen, his chest tightening. Was this some kind of sick joke? Or was it real?

He turned toward the bed and saw Savannah slowly waking up, rubbing her eyes. “Good morning,” she said softly, smiling when she saw him.

He forced a smile. “Morning, love.”

But his voice came out flat.

She noticed the look on his face and frowned. “What’s wrong? You look worried.”

He hesitated. “Nothing serious,” he said quickly. “Just a strange phone call. Maybe a prank.”

Savannah sat up and touched his hand. “You sure?”

Adrian looked at her for a moment, his eyes softening. “Yeah,” he lied quietly. “Don’t worry about it.”

She smiled a little and leaned back against the pillow, but Adrian’s mind was racing. He couldn’t shake off the voice. The fear in that caller’s tone had sounded real — too real to be a prank.

After breakfast, he told Rose to double-check the security cameras around the house and make sure the gates stayed locked all day.

“Sir, is everything okay?” Rose asked carefully.

Adrian nodded but his tone was firm. “Just routine check. I want everything tight. No strangers coming in.”

Rose nodded and hurried away.

When he went back inside, Savannah was sitting in the living room, reading a baby magazine. Her face was glowing, full of excitement about the new baby. Adrian stared at her silently for a while — her calm smile, her gentle eyes — and something inside him burned with protectiveness.

He walked over and sat beside her, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

She looked at him and smiled. “You’re quiet today.”

“I just want to hold you,” he said softly. “Promise me you won’t go anywhere without me from now on, okay?”

She frowned slightly. “Adrian, what’s going on?”

“Just promise me,” he said again, his voice firm but gentle.

Savannah sighed and nodded slowly. “Okay… I promise.”

He kissed her forehead. “Good. That’s all I need.”

But even as he tried to calm his heart, the warning replayed in his mind over and over.
“Don’t let her out of your sight.”

That night, he sat awake long after Savannah had fallen asleep. The room was quiet except for her soft breathing. Adrian’s eyes stayed fixed on his phone, still hoping that mysterious number would call again.

It didn’t.

He clenched his jaw and whispered into the dark, “Whoever you are… if you try to hurt her, I swear you’ll regret it.”

Outside, far away across the city, Clara sat on her couch with Ray. They were finalizing their move, unaware that Adrian had already been warned.

And for the first time in a long while, Adrian knew something terrible was coming — he just didn’t know when.
