Chapter 229 Chapter 229

The night was quiet, the only sound in Clara’s apartment was the ticking of the wall clock. She sat on the couch, her eyes glued to her phone screen. On the screen was a picture of Savannah and Adrian, smiling with Liam between them.

Clara zoomed in on Savannah’s face and her jaw tightened. “Look at her,” she muttered. “She’s living the life that should have been mine.”

Ray, who was sitting by the window cleaning his nails with a small knife, looked up lazily. “You’re still talking about her again?”

Clara gave him a sharp look. “Don’t start, Ray. You don’t understand what it feels like to lose everything because of one woman.”

Ray chuckled. “You mean Adrian? That man has moved on. You should too.”

Clara stood up and glared at him. “Move on? After he dumped me like trash for her? After she came into his life and took everything I ever wanted? No, Ray. I’ll never move on until she feels what I felt.”

Ray sighed and dropped the knife. “So what’s the plan now? You’ve been talking for weeks. When are we moving?”

Clara crossed her arms, her eyes cold and hard. “Soon. Very soon. Savannah is pregnant, and that’s the perfect time to strike. She’ll be weak and easy to get. Once she’s gone, Adrian will pay anything to get her back.”

Ray frowned. “Pregnant? You sure?”

Clara smiled, her lips curling up slowly. “Yes. I have my sources. I paid a nurse from the hospital she visits. She tells me everything — her appointment dates, her condition, even the time she comes and leaves.”

Ray whistled. “You’re dangerous.”

“I’m smart,” Clara corrected him. “And this time, I’m not just going after her. I’m going after everything she has. Her peace, her joy, her love — all of it.”

Ray shook his head and stood up. “Alright, boss lady. I’ll handle the car and get a safe place ready. Somewhere far from the city where no one will find her.”

Clara nodded slowly. “Good. And make sure it’s clean — no traces, no mistakes. I want everything to be perfect.”

Ray hesitated for a second. “And what about the boy, Liam?”

Clara’s eyes turned sharp. “Not him. We don’t touch the boy yet. He’s too young, and Adrian loves him too much. If we take both of them, the whole city will be on fire. We start with Savannah. Once Adrian breaks down, everything else will follow.”

Ray smirked. “You’ve really thought this through.”

Clara walked toward the window and stared outside. “I’ve been thinking about it since the day Adrian left me. Do you know what it’s like to watch someone you love look at another woman the way he used to look at you? To see him smile like you never existed?”

Her voice cracked a little, but her eyes were cold. “That pain never left me. But now, I’ll make sure Savannah feels it too.”

Ray got up and stretched. “Alright. Just tell me when to move. I’ll be ready.”

Clara turned to him and smiled faintly. “Soon. I just need to confirm her next hospital appointment. That’s when we take her. No guards, no Adrian. Just her.”

Ray nodded and headed for the door. “I’ll keep the van ready.”

When he left, Clara stood in front of the mirror. Her reflection stared back — tired, angry, but determined. She could hardly recognize herself anymore.

“You used to be sweet,” she whispered to the mirror. “Now you’re a storm. And Savannah is the reason why.”

She walked back to the table and spread out a few pictures — Savannah in the park with Liam, Savannah in a café with Adrian, Savannah walking out of the hospital. Every photo made her anger grow stronger.

Clara picked one picture where Savannah was laughing with her hand on her baby bump. She traced it with her finger slowly.
“So, you’re having another baby, huh?” she said under her breath. “Let’s see if you’ll still smile when I take everything from you.”

Her phone buzzed. It was a message from Ray.

Ray: “The place is ready. Just waiting for your word.”
Clara: “Good. The next checkup day, we move.”

She dropped the phone and leaned back on the couch, her lips curling into a wicked smile.

Outside, the city was calm. Somewhere far away, Savannah was peacefully asleep in Adrian’s arms, unaware of the danger waiting in the dark.

Clara whispered into the quiet night, “It’s almost time, Savannah. Your peace ends soon.”

And the clock on the wall kept ticking — slow and steady — counting down to the day Clara would finally strike.
