Chapter 171 Chapter 171
The hospital room was quiet except for the sound of machines beeping softly. Adrian sat beside Savannah’s bed, holding her cold hand tightly. His eyes were red and tired, but he refused to close them. He couldn’t bear to look away from her face — so pale, so still.
He had never felt so scared in his life. One moment she was walking down the stairs with a bright smile, and the next, she was lying unconscious on the floor.
“Doctor, please,” he said for the tenth time when the doctor entered, “tell me she’s going to be fine.”
The doctor sighed and looked at him with calm eyes. “She’ll be fine, Mr. Adrian. She hit her head, but there’s no serious injury. She just needs time to wake up. Let her rest.”
Adrian nodded slowly. “Thank you, doctor.”
When the doctor left, he turned back to Savannah and gently brushed her hair away from her face. “You really scared me, baby,” he said softly. “You don’t know how empty I feel just sitting here without your voice.”
He leaned forward, his forehead resting on the back of her hand. “Please wake up. I don’t know what I’d do if I lose you. You’re my everything, Savannah.”
He stayed like that for hours, sometimes whispering to her, sometimes just staring at her face. He remembered how she laughed that morning when he teased her about her hair, how she called him her “baby husband.” The memories hurt, but they also gave him hope.
At the mansion, Aunty Lisa couldn’t rest either. She sat in the living room with Liam sleeping beside her. Every few minutes, she would look toward the door, hoping for good news. The maids were also awake, worried and whispering prayers for Savannah.
Back at the hospital, Adrian was still holding Savannah’s hand. His voice was low as he spoke to her. “When you wake up, I’ll take you to that quiet beach you love so much. Just you, me, and Liam. No noise, no stress. I promise.”
He smiled faintly through his tears. “You’ll laugh again, and I’ll tell you how beautiful you are every single day.”
The night dragged on slowly. By 3 a.m., his eyes were heavy, but he didn’t want to sleep. Still, his body gave up, and he leaned his head on the bed beside her hand, falling into a light sleep.
A few hours later, just before sunrise, Savannah’s fingers moved slightly. Adrian woke up fast, his heart racing. He lifted his head and stared at her.
“Savannah?” he said softly.
Her fingers twitched again. He stood up quickly, calling for the nurse. “She’s moving! She’s moving!”
The nurse rushed in, checking her pulse and eyes. “It’s okay, sir. She’s waking up.”
Adrian’s chest filled with relief. He could barely breathe as he watched her eyes slowly open.
“Savannah?” he whispered again.
Her eyes met his weakly. She looked confused for a moment, then whispered, “Adrian?”
“Yes, it’s me, baby,” he said, smiling through tears. “You’re safe now. You’re in the hospital. You fell down the stairs, remember?”
She blinked slowly, trying to recall. “I fell?”
He nodded. “You scared me to death.”
Savannah looked at him, her eyes watery. “I’m sorry.”
Adrian held her hand tighter. “Don’t ever say that. I’m just happy you’re okay.”
She smiled faintly and whispered, “I love you.”
His eyes softened, and he leaned closer to kiss her forehead. “I love you more, Savannah. Please don’t ever do that again.”
She gave a weak laugh, and he smiled wider. The sound of her voice alone made his heart calm.
The nurse walked in again and told him she’d need to stay for some observation. Adrian thanked her, then sat back down, refusing to leave her side.
Hours passed, and Savannah slowly regained her strength. Adrian helped her drink some water and talked softly to her about everything that happened while she was out.
He told her how Aunty Lisa was taking care of Liam, how the maids wouldn’t stop praying, and how scared he was.
Savannah smiled weakly and said, “You didn’t have to worry too much.”
He laughed softly. “You think I can help it? You’re my wife. Worrying about you is part of loving you.”
Her heart melted as she looked at him. He kissed her forehead again and whispered, “Let’s go home soon, okay? We’ve both had enough drama for one week.”
Savannah nodded gently, her eyes slowly closing again, this time not from weakness but peace.
And as she drifted to sleep, Adrian sat there watching her, his hand still holding hers — thankful she was still his, thankful she was still breathing.
